The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, says the government is behind oil theft in the country.

Obi, who is the guest speaker at the Private Sector Economic Forum of Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), asserted that no one can steal oil except the government.

“Subsidy is organised crime,” he said while addressing the audience at the event on Monday in Lagos. “We need an aggressive production of local refining.”

“Make resources available to ensure a private-sector led oil refining,” the former Anambra State governor advised the Federal Government.

The presidential candidate who made the remarks while answering questions from panellists at the event also reacted to a question on the issue of cost of governance.

“I have allergies to waste,” declared Obi who obviously took a swipe at the government again.

He insisted that there was a need for an overhaul of the security architecture in the country, proposing multi-level policing from the federal to the community security system.

Oil theft, debt burden, subsidy regime, foreign exchange, and other economic issues were core areas the forum expected each of the candidates to address ahead of the 2023 elections.

The LCCI, which has organised the event for the past 16 years, said it was interested in the economic agenda of each of the candidates aspiring to take over the leadership mantle at the end of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.

Nigeria urgently needs a turning point. Everybody including even some of Tinubu’s close associates and urchins know that Tinubu does not represent the future. Unfortunately, Nigeria cannot afford a Tinubu presidency. After eight years of maladministration by Buhari, we cannot waste one more day of our national life on another deadwood. Such a person in charge of the resources of the entire nation will build a pipeline from the national purse to his private pockets. If anything, Tinubu’s poor judgement on leadership selections is more than enough proof of his lack of managerial acumen by helping to bring the disaster called Buhari to power. Today he is running away from identifying with Buhari in his campaign for 2023 presidential election and wants Nigeria to vote APC back to power. Never again!

40 years ago, we used to project and build refineries to match our population, even export refined petroleum products.

2022, we can't refine 1 barrel of crude when a small country like Singapore refines 1.3 million barrels/day!

APC promised 1 refinery per year but in 8 years can't build one nor maintain the ones they met!

Refined petroleum products take 35-40% of our Forex (drowning the Naira), while subsidy scam is threatening to take 40-50% of our national budget!

Yet, APC & PDP want another 8 years!

With Peter Obi as president, the old narratives of how politics is played in Nigeria will change forever.
Fresh and intelligent men/women will join the government while the old politicians will start thinking of retirement.

We desperately need a new Nigeria.

oluwaseyi0:

Peter Obi if elected President, is likely to remove oil subsidy without first ensuring there is local refining of crude oil and that there is uninterrupted electric power supply.

Even Buhari had to apply wisdom to reinstate subsidy, despite that there was no protest from the comatose opposition parties when he removed it.

Obi will prove to be senseless and eventually drive Nigeria into the same mess he drove Anambra youths who took to drug trafficking to survive the hardship in Peter Obi's Anambra.

That is why I always remind Nigerian youths that Peter Obi has no knowledge of the manifesto of the Labour Party he gatecrashed at the 11th hour just so he could desperately secure a Presidential ticket.

Sir,
We know.
Bouhari as Pet. Minister continues to be clueless.

If people are paid what they are worth and the economy is thriving, what is the need for subsidy..

Empower people so they can live and stop existing... They know these things yet refuse to do it..

Na the useless slave minded followers I pity
