mostob:Yeah @ bolded. I said it here when he wanted to go for the surgery that he wanted to treat a growth "something" that has been disturbing him since so the club advised him on the surgery since he won't be making England's WC squad. Hopefully, Shaktar suppose gree now. They wanted to pit we and Chelsea head in a bidding war so that they'll have a great deal. Thank God Mudryk insistence on choosing us played a good part too |

Spy360:I never denied Nketiah won't get more goals than him nor did I ever counter the claim. The issue is not about Jesus not staying in the box, it's about Jesus not being clinical like Nketiah. I wonder how someone who has the most touches in the box and most shots in the box in EPL and most big chances missed in EPL (before his injury) Is accused of not staying in the box. I've debunked this farce that last year. Unless he learns how to be clinical (which I believe Arteta is working on him on that aspect as he was already showing signs in the wolves match), Nketiah will still be getting more goals than him and not because of any "staying in the box" claim. |

Jodera:Yea... They should finalize the deal before weekend abeg. What is even worrying is that were not working on any other target. Maybe Edu want to keep it silent like Fabio's. |

Jodera:Take a careful look at your words in the emboldened. You are implying that Nketiah is a better striker than Jesus. Because for a striker the primary duty is to score goals. Nketiah scores more than Jesus. And you have claimed that Jesus is not clinical- misses big chances etc. If it is true, then why is Jesus benching him? |

Spy360:Between Gabriel and Nketiah , nketiah is a poacher and a better goal scorer and given equal minutes ,will outscore gabriel , even now their goal ratios are similar , but Gabriel bring so many other things to the game that nketiah hasn't developed. |
| Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Spy360(m): 9:51am On Jan 11, 2023 |
Izurejoice:So who is more preferable? A poacher or one that brings other things? As a matter of fact, I prefer Jesus and he is a better player than Nketiah by all standards. I have stated that his poor goals output is due to his over involvement in the build up. Note the qualifier 'over'. He should spend more time in the box and making goal scoring runs and focusing a bit more on scoring than in build up. His goals output will surely improve. So though he is better than Nketiah, but Nketiah is wise to focus more on goals scoring. |
| Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Jodera: 9:57am On Jan 11, 2023 |
Spy360:The reason why Jesus is benching him is 1.... He's a new signing specifically ordered by Arteta and Edu. So it's normal for any striker coming in (in such circumstance) to bench the 2nd choice striker of last season. 2... He's more experienced in all ramifications than Nketiah. This needs no explanation 3... The most important of all is that he brings more to the team than just Goals. Yes, striker primary duty is to score goals generally, but it's a fact nowadays that coaches prefer strikers who brings that something extra than just scoring goals(since most Coaches are system manager btw). So when a striker is not scoring, what else does he brings to this team? How else is he making the system click for the betterment of the team? If you think because you're a striker and you're just scoring goals without bringing other facets of the game, I'm sorry you won't last long (except if you're extraordinarily good like Haaland). There's a reason why Auba will be subbed (even as him came In as a sub) in Chelsea games and coaches will prefer Havertz as a 9 to either Auba or Lukaku (even though say Havertz na another scrap on him own). There's a reason almost everybody (prior to this season) are all "strikers" in Guardiola team and why he benched Aguero in his prime even went as far as buying young Gabriel Jesus. There's a reason we hardly had tremendous success in league with Auba as striker (even last season) but we clicked almost immediately when Lacazette started leading the line last season(which was the platform for us going all out and identifying G.Jesus) There's a reason a Liverpool penchant goalscorer (in Origi) was a perennial benchwarmer while Firmino was their striker for over 4yrs. There's a reason the "Chicaritos" of the world are going into extinction. There's a reason Benzema(before Ronaldo exit) who wasn't a frequent goalscorer was their main striker always while Goalscorer Higuain was sold It's also one of the Big reasons why I was against us Signing Tammy Abraham when he was linked with us last season before his move to Roma even though he had a good goalscoring record. Until you realize that most Coaches nowadays look at the bigger picture of the team and not just the surface level of "my striker isn't scoring", then you'll stop being crazy about our striker not scoring and look at the bigger picture of how the team fare with his presence. Now, please, don't misconstrue me by thinking I meant Jesus shouldn't score. No!!. What I meant Is that in this system, Jesus as well as all the front 5 are "strikers"(as the responsibility is now shared for unpredictability), so anyone who have the opportunity to score should please do so. Jesus should rightly be given the stick for not being clinical(unlike his fellow forwards like Saka and Martinelli) not you wrongly criticizing him for doing the things that's making our system effective. It's not as if both aren't mutually exclusive!! |

Spy360:It's one of the things that already made me even like Mudryk laidis laidis sef ![]() With the way he was talking about wanting to come to arsenal and nobody else(if arsenal bids for him), I needed to see how true that claim was with Chelsea interest and he just proved to be a real arsenal fan as he claimed. Na this kind players I love cos they'll always give their all to the team |
| Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Spy360(m): 10:40am On Jan 11, 2023 |
Jodera:You write long epistles so tey you confuse yourself. I asked a simple question mind you. We complained that Jesus is not getting on the score sheet. I said it's because of his style of play- he gets too much involved in the biuld-up. That Nketiah if given the opportunity will score goals because we already have creators on the wings and centre. That those benefitting from Jesus's style are other players like Martinelli, Odegaard and Saka (something you have now alluded to howbeit unknowingly) You said it's not, but that Jesus is just not clinical. You claimed that Jesus as a striker is not as clinical as Nketiah but that he brings other things which Nketiah does not. Then you compared goalscorering strikers and non-goalscoring strikers and then you ended up in the bolded, that both attributes are mutually exclusive. I think this case is done. |
| Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Jodera: 10:48am On Jan 11, 2023 |
Spy360:Lol, I meant both are not mutually exclusive. Jesus brings more to the table that can't be denied. It's simple. Nketiah doesn't offer much like him(even though his game now Is developing) The game against Newcastle needed Jesus more as Nketiah was man-marked. Like I always say, Nketiah is a good back up striker for us and as he keeps on developing his game the better |
| Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Spy360(m): 10:54am On Jan 11, 2023 |
Jodera:I have already modified my post to state that you alluded to Martinelli, Odegaard and Saka being the beneficiaries of the other things Jesus brings. So in essence he is sacrificing for the other players. Like I said, it's not about not being clinical. If Jesus plays like Nketiah he will score even more goals. But as long as he 'brings the other things' his goalscoring will suffer. Nketiah has confirmed my assertions. I prefer a Jesus that scores goals than one that brings the 'other things'. |
| Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Jodera: 11:00am On Jan 11, 2023 |
Spy360:Our front 3 scored against Westham. Our front 4 scored against Brighton. So whether Nketiah scores or not doesn't stops our other attackers from scoring too (as it's designed they'll always get into goalscoring position). The question is: Does Jesus and Nketiah gets at the end of chances? Your point of Jesus sacrificing would have been valid if Jesus doesn't see quality chances as a striker but on the contrary he does. So what separates Jesus from Nketiah (and the rest).... being Clinical It's so simple!! |
| Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Spy360(m): 2:00pm On Jan 11, 2023 |
Jodera:It's simple. But if I ask you why he isn't clinical you will turn eba. Ok, why is Jesus not clinical? |
| Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Jodera2: 3:10pm On Jan 11, 2023 |
Spy360:Lol... It's simple. Wrong decision making when through on goal I remember last year when I brought pictures of all the wrong decision making he's made and how he's making it hard for himself when he could have simply kept it simple to score (something Saka Martinelli and Nketiah are doing) but you dismissed it as me spamming here with pictures. Now you're asking me again why is he not clinical? ![]() This is something I believe Arteta will work on tho. If he can work on Sterling profligacy and improve Saka goalscoring too, then I don't think I'll complain of Jesus's profligacy for far too long |
| Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Spy360(m): 3:32pm On Jan 11, 2023 |
Jodera2:So one can rightly and boldly say that Nketiah is a better striker right now than Jesus? As Jesus has been profligate (wasteful) and Nketiah is prolific? If you say he brings other things apart from scoring (a lazy way to defend your point) why then are we concerned about his poor goals output? Let me remind you that my stand is for Jesus to get less involved on those "other things" and focus a little more on scoring. This is the only thing Arteta will work on. He is not going to teach Jesus how to score goals like he is a feeder player. I have mentioned other top scoring strikers and how they get less involved in buildup compared to Jesus. Nketiah who is now playing his role in exactly the same set up is scoring goals. Check his heat map and compare with Jesus's and see why Jesus isn't scoring. I hope he gets back soon and learn a thing from Nketiah and you will note the difference. Saying Jesus is not a clinical striker is an insult to the sacrifice, effort and talent he displays. |
| Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Jodera2: 4:14pm On Jan 11, 2023 |
Spy360:That I'm concerned about Jesus not scoring is because he misses chances he ordinarily should have scored as a player (forward). I was once vocal here about Saka not being clinical enough prior to last season (where I sometimes criticize him too). Maybe you didn't observe but Roland did and when Saka started scoring consistently last season, Roland reminded me that hope I've now seen that Saka have started scoring. So no, it's not because he's a striker I'm being concerned... It's because he's a forward. It doesn't matter if you're Jesus or Martinelli or Saka, as long as you're part of my attacker, once you've opportunity to score please do. And while I understand your point but my point is this. That Jesus becomes involved in other things doesn't in any way prevent him from scoring or affects his chances of scoring. Nunez misses chances, nobody talks about him involved. Werner misses chances too, maybe he too is involved like Jesus. And yes, they can teach. You think club will just hire attacking coach just for phases. Even Rashford said Ole taught him to always put ball in-between the GK legs when through on goal. Saka acknowledged how Arteta taught him to put the ball high up to score in a tight angle (his goal against Leeds this season). Report talked about how Arteta was working with Martinelli last season when fans where crying about why he doesn't want to unleash him. So many examples. Lastly I don't know what you mean by the bolded. Jesus isn't clinical this season (misses chances frequently), I say it as it is and you said I'm insulting him? What concerns sacrifice and efforts with me talking about our player missing quality chances biko? ![]() |

| Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Spy360(m): 4:37am On Jan 12, 2023 |
Jodera2:You accept that as a forward he should score goals but you are still comfortable having him overwork himself outside his forward role. I mean, you see him as a forward but want him to spend all his time outside the forward role, and yet expect that he should score goals since he is a forward. How can a forward not be in the forward position and is still expected to do his duties as a forward. Let me assume you have not played the position before or felt the impact. I was a forward player and I know that for you to have the right frame of mind and composure to finish off chances as a forward you have to get less involved with the build up. Unless the coach does not place a demand on you for goals, and he is comfortable having you drop deep (Firmino). But if he demands goals output as your KPI in every game, then it is only wise to keep to your primary duties and aim for goals (Haaland). As for Jesus, we all know that Arteta is comfortable having him roam the entire pitch creating chances knowing that Martinelli, Odegaard and Saka will finish them off. Something I regard as a sacrifice from Jesus. However anytime Arteta begins to feel uncomfortable with his goals output, then it will be wise for Jesus to stick to forward play majorly just as Nketiah has done so far. This is because, sooner than later fans will begin to demand for Nketiah to start when goals are needed. |
| Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Spy360(m): 4:43am On Jan 12, 2023 |
Jodera2:The bolded is not correct. My stand is that Jesus suffers or sacrifices his goals for the team by working up himself. It is this sacrifice that makes him not to score goals and allows others to score. It's obvious when you know all our front men have been huge beneficiaries. Yours has been that Jesus is profligate and not clinical. Which I said it's not true, that if he can focus more on goals just as Nketiah he will even do better as he is a better player than Nketiah by all standards include scoring goals. Go and verify. |
