Properties worth millions of Naira have been destroyed as fire gutted the Araromi spare parts market in Ibadan, Oyo State, IGBERETV reports.

The fire broke out in the early hours of Saturday, January 14. About 45 shops were affected by the fire incident at the spare parts market, which is one of the major markets in Ibadan.

The fire started at about 2:00am and the state fire service succeeded in quenching it around 5 a.m.

General Manager of the Oyo State Fire Service, Rev. Canon Yemi Akinyinka, blamed the fire on refuse burning.

He said: "Our men are at Araromi Market Agodi Gate since 2:30 a.m. where they are putting off the fire caused by indiscriminate refuse burning.

"The fire was suppressed at 5:00 a.m. Cooling down operation is ongoing to suppress re-ignition. On my way for on the spot assessment.

"I cannot say specifically the number of shops now, you know it is an emergency. It started in the night. About 45 shops."

Oyo is not an Igbo state, you should be concerned about life in general and properties worth billions of naira in flames and stop being tribalistic angry

They will still come and argue with you that it is only them that involves in motor spare parts and nobody else
This gate spare part market is 99% Yorubas but if you go to Oke Bola, Oke Ado, Sango, yes, these are predominantly the Igbos.

Nah that’s not the case, let’s assume it is, he’s still at loss cos insurance will only provide 65% of what you lost anyways, is that worth the stress of getting a new shop, having it arranged and designed to a standard and ordering new goods from God knows where.

Hmmm! You should have been more concerned about people's wealth that went in flames than being a petty tribalist.

Just so you know, Agodi gate spare parts market has 99.8% or even100% traders as Yoruba.

Where you can find the traders mixed with Igbos is 'oke ado, oke Bola, oke padre'.....even in Ojoo area, you barely see Igbos trading motor spare parts..

Cheers ✌️

I’m beginning to think most of these fire incidents are coordinated attacks aimed at crumbling businesses. This is really sad and I hope the victims get recompense.

May the shop owners find succour and worthy replacement.

Harmattan season; shield flammable materials, be careful around fire, avoid electrical errors, etc.

Don't think nonsense. It's harmattan season, and atmospheric humidity and moisture are minimal. Most materials are intrinsically susceptible to flammability.

Any form of succour, as simple as mindless prayer, will be appreciated, but definitely not some propaganda.

We're Yoruba, we don't go about destroying properties when we have our businesses we pray to thrive.
