A follow-up to Bayo Onanuga: AriseTV Tried To Stream Tinubu's Event Without Permission.

Arise TV cameraman clandestinely streamed live Asíwájú Bola Tinubu’s event in Lagos today. He was not authorized by anyone. He was clearly on espionage, but was busted and sent out. Is journalism by stealth part of the practice by Arise News?

@OfficialAPCNg, @officialABAT @atiku @NUJofficial @NGEditors @PeterObi @ARISEtv

My name is Yemi Ajayi, Director of News of Arise News and I sent out a crew to cover the event, in line with our policy of covering the engagements of the leading presidential candidates in the general election.

We did the same thing when the PDP candidate, Atiku interacted with business leaders at an LCCI event in Lagos in Sept. 2022. Ditto for LP's Peter Obi at the same LCCI event in Lagos the same period.

We also did the same LIVE coverage of Tinubu @ Chatham House, London and we were never harassed. This is part of our responsibility of helping our viewers to making an informed choice in the election. The team was led by one of Africa’s leading journalists, Boason Omofaye, who has be accredited to NESG for decades.

All our cameras have capacity for live transmission in line with best global journalistic practice and in furtherance of this, it's our policy to live stream, dip in and out of important events as we deem necessary.

Journalists should not be harassed for doing their job.

@Yemi Ajayi

Bayo Onanuga: For clarity, the Tinubu-Shettima campaign is not against Arise TV covering its events. The Lagos NESG dialogue was not meant for TV live coverage. It was to be recorded and shown later. Other TV houses did not breach the rule, except Arise News. And it was done by stealth. Why?

As I explained to you in our telephone conversation when you called me earlier today on the issue, there was nothing stealthily about ARISE NEWS coverage and live streaming of the @officialABAT event at the NESG, Ikoyi, Lagos yesterday that's our standard practice in line with best global journalistic standard.

The fact that no other television stations streamed live the event isn't tantamount to Arise News practising journalistic espionage as you're trying to frame it.

As a veteran in journalism, you're aware that every media organisation has the freedom to determine its editorial policy, and this @ARISEtv has done. We came to the venue of the event in our branded official vehicle and our cameraman was wearing a branded jacket, officials of the NESG saw the @ARISEtv crew when they were setting up and no expressed objection was raised about our presence. Neither was there any expressed instruction that we shouldn't live stream the event.

So, at what point did @ARISEtv breach any regulations of the event? Last year, when Asiwaju had his 70th birthday colloquium in Lagos, we live streamed the speech of @officialABAT.

We were neither rebuked nor accused of stealthily live streaming the speech of @officialABAT . @ARISEtv is only doing its job and should be left to do so without any harassment or vilification.

@Yemi Ajayi

Yemi Ajayi is Director of news @AriseNews.

This man has always been an ass-licker. He was one of those who sold out Dele Giwa.

They have not gained power but already stifling the fourth estate.

These people must push out of the political space forever—we should delete anything APC from our memory.

Imagine saying It was meant to be recorded and posted later, So their photoshop experts can edit all the gaffes out.
The electorates are wiser now and 2023 would prove a lot of doubters wrong.

Why will a private TV station be that partisan! Spits

Tinubu that shies away from interviews is not a Journalists-friendly individual.
&therefore has what it takes to be a Dictator.

He even said Social Media gives home high BP which suggests he would clamp down on SM if he becomes Presdo. cheesy

Arise TV want to profit from the traffic that they’ll get from airing Tinubu.

How can a media organization be so useless to the extent of illegally entering a venue and streaming without approval.

It’s just like Arise TV going to cover Wike speeches and streaming them live when Wike already made it known that he already severed ties with the useless TV.

Were you given a pass/clearance to cover the event?! I also once worked in a media house as a TV Producer.. Without an official invitation, you simply maintain you lane.. To even think that your media house and its owner is at loggerhead with Tinubu and his team should have prompted courtesy and professionalism from your part.. You don't insult a man and expected to be treated to a buffet at his table..

Arise are practising blackmail and espionage. No be by force na, Obi himself have abandoned the media for Town meeting bulubla.

Meanwhile, Why are Igbos in the back waters of Nigeria politic. It was far easier for an Ijaw man to become president than an Igbo man why?

Igbos, are only where they are because of their greed and indiscretion of promoting Biafra over Nigeria and not aligning proper with other region because of perceived pride and superiority which have left them short.

1. First President in Nigeria was an Igbo man Nnamdi Azikiwe
2. First Senate President was an Igbo man Infact 90% of Nigeria former Senate Presidents were Igbos.
3. First Military head of state was an Igbo man Aguyi Ironsi
4. First Nigeria’s Vice President was also an Igbo man. Alex Ekwueme Many years before Yemi Osinbajo
5. First Military Coup in Nigeria was by the Igbos
6. First and only civil war was also by the Igbos.

What went wrong with the Igbos? These are the questions they should ask themselves and not try to take over Nigeria by using Obi as smokescreen while insulting everybody and picking Tinubu as there enemy for no reason.

Yorubas were never relevant in Nigeria politics for more than 40 yrs after independence. Only OBJ managed to become a military head of state by providence when Murtala was killed.

Infact it’s only in the fourth Republic we got the position of President, Vice President and Senate President in any democratic set up since independence. Meanwhile Igbos have held this position decades before now.

Other media organizations are there but Tinubu just don’t want anything to do with Arise TV. So why are they illegally trying to cover his activities?

Arise TV act as opposition party to Tinubu, so Tinubu is treating them as such considering the fact that their owner is pro-PDP.

AriseTV is so shameless, rather than apologize for breaching protocol, they resorted to baseless defense and emotional blackmail. That media house is desperately hanging on Tinubu's coattail for daily bread, the type of viewership and money they couldn't leverage from poorly arranged town hall meetings with Obi & Atiku.
