The operatives of the State Security Service, SSS, have invaded the headquarters of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, taking over the office of the embattled governor of the apex bank, Godwin Emefiele.

DAILY NIGERIAN reports that there has been a running battle between the SSS and Mr Emefiele over alleged terrorism financing.

The secret service had earlier sought a court order to arrest Mr Emefiele but has been out of the country for his annual leave which is expiring tomorrow, January 17.

But the FCT High Court had in December barred the SSS from arresting, inviting, or detaining Mr Emefiele.

Arriving at the CBN headquarters Monday noon, the SSS operatives came in with about 20 vehicles with armed personnel.

The operatives also barred all staff of the bank from gaining access to Mr Emefiele’s office.

Peter Afunanya, the SSS spokesperson, is yet to respond to the query sent to him by this reporter.

How can two appointees of Buhari be fighting themselves messily like this when their oga is still alive and well?
If Emefiele really committed any crime,how difficult is it for Buhari to tell him "ol boy,go and submit yaself to investigation" or even suspend him from office.
If not,can't Buhari tell DG of DSS to "leave that man alone"?

While dubious and crooked politicians were having their ways flauntig stolen monies to induce,bribe,buy election victories unhindered. Emefiele was a saint, now that his new policy will choke all those crooks, he's now seen as a villain.

We all know the dirty politics going on. The politicized ,Dss that only barks at the opposition and is tamed at the sight of those in power should wake up and dig out those behind the ordeals of Emefiele.They're the real criminals that should be hounded.

Buhari government is ultra useless.
Why can't they categorically come out to say they are in support of the dss action or are not party to it and tell DSS to back off?
Even though for me,emefiele should have been long sacked.
His monetary cum economic policies,aided and supported by the cattle rearer is what has primarily plunged Nigeria into the worst economic mess since 1918 of the country's almagamation

Whatever happens to him either arrested or runaway, the withdrawal of old notes by month end shouldn't be stopped because that's only when this coming election will be free and fair to whoever wins it...

These set of APC in government are just criminal. Being it Fulani, Igbo or Yoruba. It's like they purposely came together as thieves to wreck this country. Emefiele will go down as the worst CBN governor ever. The guy is just a pure thief. He should be made a Scape goat.
