It's quite a complicated issue. It's more of a crisis of identity. As much as I respect people's right to choose how they live their lives but the name they bear is Igbo. Like u pointed out,Ukwuani as a word is nothing but Igbo. They may not like the Igbos of the SE(maybe they were offended in the past, I don't know) but the language they speak & the name they bear is still Igbo whether they like it or not..
In my opinion, they have every right to dissociate themselves from SE Igbos if they so choose, but for them to be taken seriously that they are not of Igbo origin then they should invent a non-Igbo name and also a non-Igbo language. It's pure objectivity & it has nothing to do with sentiments.
