Wike's Selfishness Caused Him The PDP Ticket by Makavelli001(op): 10:23am On Jan 18, 2023
May 29th this year, the North would’ve completed 2 terms of 8 yrs in the Nigeria Presidency. For a pluralized country like ours, to enthrone balance and inclusivity, common sense and morality dictate that power should return to the south. This isn’t a legislated arrangement, but, i mean, it is only fair.

The expectation was for the South to have a rallying point. That pointman must’ve certain sterling attributes - Carriage, Charisma, Track Racord, Salebility. Whilst other PDP southern aspirants can be said to have sprinkles of these features, one man can be argued to posses all of them in abundance - and more. His name? Peter Gregory Obi. What was left is for the south to encircle around him and push him as their candidate.

But at the corner lurks a flippant, uncharismatic and unrefined southern moneybag. His name? Ezenwo Nyesom Wike. In 2019, Nyesom opened the tap of Rivers coffers for his ‘friend’ to prosecute his bid for the presidency. This his friend who’s from a wealthy caliphate, barely showed enough zeal for the Aso Rock sit as he was more fixated on completing a 2nd term as Executive Governor. But Nyesom was pushing him. To what end? I’ll tell you. Just so he can become Vice President. Yeah, selfish. I know.

Fast forward to 2022. All was now set for the South to make a genuine case and stake their claim as landlord of Aso Rock Villa. Obi came to visit Nyesom in his Porthacourt abode, pitched the need for the south to have a common front and pledged his candidacy considering, aside his sellable qualities, there’s a groundswell of sentiment that someone of Igbo extraction be given an opportunity to take a shot at the Presidency. Nyesom disagreed. He had other plans - albeit selfish.

Nyesom ran to meet his dear friend, yes, the caliphate son. “Last time i worked for you, squandered my Rivers peoples’ common patrimony on you; this time I want your support”. His caliphate friend goes “haba, kei aboki na ne ai. You have my backing”. He left sokoto satisfied with a deal that if everything goes to plan, he’ll be the Presidential flagbearer of his party and his caliphate friend his running mate. But this Porthacourt born rambler was about to be taught some bitter lessons he’ll never forget in his life.

Once he left Sokoto, he set off to work. What were his major selling points? Insult, aspersions, berate, demonize and lacerate Peter Obi. Meanwhile, Obi in his campaign was measured, matured, and organized. No vile statements, no hipping of bile at anyone. Just issues. Despite repeated attempts to curry support from Porthacourt, Obi was met with stiff resistance and umbrage. He knew, that the paltry 96 delegates from his south east region won’t give him the victory. He’s aware that he can’t contest the obscenely monetized process of harvesting votes from the south west & north. He needed his ‘brother’ who told him “go away I’m not Igbo, i’m Ikwere”. So he bowed out of the scene with dignity and took solace in Labour Party.

The stage was set. The venue was Moshood Kashimawo Olawale (MKO) Stadium located in the heart of the Nation’s capital. A plan had already been hatched by the Fulani folks. But Nyesom was still in his garrulous element, not knowing what’s about to hit him. His pseudo caliphate friend who had given him assurance that they’ll combine forces to outwit a common enemy who abandoned them for 4 years for his palatial residence in Dubai, switched his allegiance and poured out his votes to who? Yes. To the same Dubai resident, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar - the so called common enemy. That was the joker that tilted and decided the final outcome in Abuja. Nyesom’s fate was sealed!

He couldn’t believe his eyes. I mean, he bled and made so much enemies for his caliphate friend. They both agreed to retire Atiku who they’ve both agreed is a party renegade & dissident. Claded in shame, he wept and left the stadium. He realized that the Hausa/Fulanis are more politically united and savvy than their southern counterparts. He wished he had listened to his southern brother. I hope he learns from this bitter lesson. In politics, 2 + 2 is not always 4 and politics of identity & religious persuasion reign supreme in our clime.

Concluding thoughts:

Those who’re shading the Igbos are in the wrong. It’s easier to insult the Igbos in our analysis. But in this instance, the entire Southerners are to be blamed. Obi represented hope; Nyesom Wike snuffed out the hope. Obi needed him just like how Atiku needed his Fulani Kinsman. But Wike was too politically naivè and blind to see.
With or without wike's support LP will win rivers state come presidential election.

God bless Nigeria.

You so much made efforts to portray Peter Obi as a saint and didn’t include that he wanted to reap where he did not sow. Obi was never fully involved in the pdp politics but wanted to be flag bearer, I don’t blame wike for his actions towards Obi. Why didn’t Obi remain in pdp and help wike his brother to win the primary election? But Obi who is known for his greed and disloyalty left pdp to join Labor party exactly the same way he left APGA. Obi is very greedy and cunning politician and this 2023 election will permanently retire him. He’s the least candidate I can ever cast my vote for. I’m not gullible like some of you and I can clearly see through Obi’s deceits and lies. God forbids he mistakenly win, I bet you Obi can’t effect any positive change, it’ll be stories upon stories. Obi is just an opportunist who’s relying on the current situation of the country to ride to power and that shall never happen.

'Obi would have stay in PDP and help his brother wike to clinch the ticket' DID WIKE CONSIDER OBI AS HIS BROTHER TOO? look at how myopic your thinking is.
