Oga, private security in Nigeria can't match the protection needs of VIPs. Licensing of arms is very restrictive in Nigeria.

So if you want ironclad security especially through high-risk areas, you can only safely go with a security agency.

If you want to properly arm a security outfit, your enemies and detractors will use it to attack you. They'll call it terrorism financing, gun running, or some horrific offense that you will never be able to shake off completely.

Moreover, all of these men have top-ranking security officers as business partners and associates of some sort. The CBN governor had the CDS (they're both Deltans) send a company of soldiers to shield him from DSS arrest. Do you know how many favors a man like Offor has performed for certain highly placed officers in the East. These officers are protecting their investment.

In fact, if you are a modestly successful person, with a net worth of at least $5m, you're only doing yourself if you don't have a point man in the security structure of this country. Not for vain power but to protect your wealth and standing from jackals in both the lowborn and highborn segments of the population.

As such, in the grand scheme of things, these VIPs have no recourse beside using the security architecture.

Not to mention, these VIPs would each love to have private armies, but that would be a major bottleneck for the government. It would mean if Anambra, Kano, or Lagos billionaires decide to establish a private security partnership or network, they'd comfortably rival some of our security outfits, in light of the lawlessness of this country. Look at Boko Haram and UGM. So the government protection is also to keep tabs on these men as all protective detail are infiltrated by intelligence operatives from the SSS/DIA/NIA.

In this country, every one of importance is being watched like a hawk. You f*ck up, them go dust your file. Then you'll start making calls and cashing every favor you've ever rendered to avoid Kuje. Bad as e bad, your camp go find smuggling route package you go UK or Dubai. As the man said in the video, power no b muscle, na contacts.

Lastly, the VIPs do fend for the members of their protective detail. Of course, there are good and bad bosses, but for the most part a lot of them do right by the force men. Most never touch their salaries. It's almost like the government is running an exclusive protection agency for VIPs and PEPs and takes care of the staffing and operations. Partly because they don't trust these VIPs to care about national security. Even me I would not. Small election them don align disposable cult boys to snatch boxes, then you'll comfortably ask them to provide their own security. You're not ready for the havoc they'll unleash when they think it is beneficial.
