Asaba Must Be Renamed To Its Original Igbo Name "Ahaba" by gidgiddy(op): 11:56am On Jan 20, 2023
The people of Asaba know their history more than I do. The history of why Nebisi shouted "Ahabam!" (I have chosen!) Which precipitated the present day Asaba to be called 'Ahaba'.

The first Europeans to arrive in Ahaba thought they heard the natives say "Asaba", and wrote the name of the place as that. That mistake has carried on for over 150 years.

It is time for Asaba people to do away with the "S", replace it with 'h' and return to the ancestral name their Igbo forefathers gave the place

Thank you

Have you changed the name of Enugu back to Enugwu? Have you changed Owerri back to Owere? Have you changed Onitsha back to Onicha?

You see how you go about looking for trouble for no reason?

All these places are being called their original names, no matter how they are spelled

The same cannot be said of "Ahaba"

Would rather have them lose their ancestral name to a British mistake?

This is not a sensitive matter, to tell people to return to their original name, and not the one the white man from Europe made mistake in giving them
