I just knew that Partey would have injury since it's unlike Arteta to sub him out at halftime when we were playing beautifully. Cos there's no logical reason why he would be subbed out just to put in Lokonga that he never rated this season

God abeg ooo, make last season no repeat itself embarassed embarassed
Heard he felt something in his ribs so he had to be substituted as precaution. Inasmuch as it is his ribs, he fit wear bullet proof.

While Awilo had a bad game, I was very disappointed by Odegaard's shocking reaction on the pitch, especially when you consider he is the captain of this team. I am not holding forth for his performance but the pitch was not the right place to throw your team mate under the bus. He easily could have waited for a break to have a teaching moment with the kid, not the silly tantrum he was throwing on the pitch against Awilo.

Awilo is a young player who needs tutelage and support to help as he develops and what Odegaard displayed on the pitch was very irresponsible in my opinion. He has successfully pitched the young kid against Arsenal fans and this may totally mar any confidence he has left...many, never recover from that. We have seen several games where Odegaard was poor and looked different, even before he became captain and no one, including hot head Xhaka gave him an earful.

Odegaard had a unique opportunity to exhibit true leadership qualities and he failed woefully in my opinion. Young players need support as they try to work through their mistakes, not what Odegaard displayed on the pitch today. I hope Awilo can use this experience to motivate himself and work on his game.

We shouldn't have gotten him in the first place but eating him out like that in public was bad. He needs join a team on loan that can offer him competitive playing time so he can build his confidence and mentality.
I understand your point bro but I won't blame Ode. Sambi has been training with Arteta for more than a year now yet doesn't understand basic positioning. He was ball watching for their goal and his bad positioning made it difficult to press City. It is just emotion but I won't blame Ode.

Well, I just hope it's precaution so that the injury or anything wouldn't be aggravated.

But one thing I was certain ystdy, I just knew it wasn't because of rest Partey was subbed. I just hope it isn't serious and I'm just happy that ystdy game wasn't an EPL match

Me and you watch Odegaard week in week out and you are renowned for reminding us when he is indifferent and having poor games. At anytime, have we seen Partey, Xhaka or Gabu yell at him. There is no excuse for Odegaard’s behavior. If another player did that, I would care less but your captain? at one of your young players? That’s a big no!

Again, this is my opinion.
But Ode's poor games always come once in a while. Even at that, he can't be totally poor. His pressing and positioning will still be there. But Sambi....

Lol... The good thing about Elneny injury is that it always happens during TW. Imagine window is closed and he now get this his season-ending injury. Na so we go just dey stuck with Loko be that grin

I read we're bringing our final bid for Caicedo. If Brighton rejects it, then we'll move to other target. I just hope they act fast and it'll not be too late. Lokonga starting in this crucial stage of the season fit kill all hope and efforts this guys have put in so far

This is the amala turning I certainly dey taya for your side. Just months ago, you said this which I and Oyindamola countered

Emphasis on the words "heavy spendings. Two months down, you've shifted "Newcastle not paying high"

Note, we weren't debating about player's quality around November but Heavy spendings due to Arab money. As you've turned the Amala to quality and caliber players today, that's the template you'll now use In debating and attacking me months to come.

Exactly how you did with Nketiah and Jesus!!

I no wan go any further. I just wanted to show you how a great amala turner and debate shifting king you are.

Happy weekend to you Sir!
Na you get energy sha

I understand your point. I think it just summarises the fact that Lokonga doesn't have the trust of his teammates as others have. And one thing with football is that once there's no trust, then it means, there's no confidence which automatically brings about the reaction from Odegaard.

While I'm not happy about what Odegaard did (since Sambi isn't the first to make mistake this season) but it just involuntarily tells us the kind of confidence these guys have when playing with Lokonga — low confidence.
Though I still believe he shouldn't have done that openly

If Partey makes such mistake (which he rarely does), I doubt he'll get such an earful.

Maybe that's one of the main reasons Arteta is always going for a DM once Elneny goes on an injury

I still feel we can go for Douglas luiz again adding awilo to spice up the deal

Monaco bidded 7m for awilo we rejected cause we are limited in midfield

I wonder why arteta didn't start ESR ahead of viera yesterday

We can't go for Luiz since he signed a new long term deal. If we couldn't get him by August when his contract is expiring by June, how can we get him when it's now a 5-yr contract. We should just look for another player sha. Dem suppose full French league

It's not as if arsenal really "reject" the bid(Sambi). We just made it clear that we won't sell or loan him UNTIL we get a Midfielder in.

ESR didn't make the squad. He wasn't injured during training (but not long term). So in order to serve as precaution, it was decided not to use him. Hopefully, he'll be available against Everton

That act by Ordegaard might just kill the little confidence Lokonga had. Even though I don’t really believe in that boy filling Partey shoes, the pitch wasn’t the best place to correct him being the captain.

The dude didn’t wait to clap the fans, he went straight into the dressing room after the match even when the players were clapping the fans ...

The bolded is the problem I have with you. Newcastle may not have spent much, but they have acquired players over the past two transfer windows who have helped the cause and most of them are on big wages.

Before you begin to turn amala, know that I have not ruled out the coach's effort which is highly commendable but saying it's solely based on that is cheap talk.

Dan Burn 13m
Matt Target 15m
Bruno Guimares 36m
Alex Isak 63m
Nick Pope 10m
Chris Wood 25m
Sven Botman 35m
Keiran Trippier Free

It is rare for a mid table club to invest such amount and also to attract such calibre of players without paying them high. These guys were direct upgrade of their first team in addition to the likes of Willock, Saint-Maxim, Callum Wilson, Almiron etc.

So while it is clear the work Eddie Howe has done on the team, it will be cheap to say that a good transfer business did not contribute, which is the effect of Arab investment.
See the players in question...Woods, Target, Burn...Lol

Guimaraes and Trippier are good players so is Isak however he is very inconsistent...I think they upped their mentality, they now approach games differently.

I didn't want to even go that route cos that would be another talk on its own and I didn't want to partake in that

Lol .. it's not about protection but doing the right thing.

One of the big reasons why there's bond and unity amongst all our players instead of rife Is the ability for them to stand by each other publicly if any of them made a mistake. I remember Saliba did an own goal against Leicester and Odegaard walked up to him to reassure him. Gabriel did a grave mistake against Fulham two matches later and he even admitted that the reassurance and confidence his brothers (as he himself called them) gave him was what gave him strength to carry on enabling him to even go for that winner. Should we talk last season about same Gabriel mistake against wolves where he wanted to apologize for his mistake and Ramsdale told him to forget about it and move on.

Why then would it now feel right to criticize Sambi openly? Why then should his own be different?

I just hope that Odegaard talk to him and tell him that it was emotions that got the better of him. That wouldn't make him less of a captain or leader and it'll give Lokonga some reassurance that he isn't being treated differently.

Hopefully, they will work it out.

I’m pretty sure they’ll work it out and I hope it boosts the confidence in the dude, Ordegaard is a pretty good captain although his emotions got the best of him .
All I see in that Lokonga is a young dude void of confidence and I’ll be glad if he improves so that those calling for his head will celebrate him like they did Xhaka.

The best way for Lokonga to rediscover himself is by playing away from that DM position. Yesterday, even his progressive passes and movement was found wanting, something associated with lack of confidence and match rustiness.

I don't know if he might get the kind of Xhaka's redemption here cos of the amount/caliber of midfielders coming through but I'll be glad if he can pull it through like Xhaka, else I'll just wish him all the best away from here.

That's what I am saying
Odegaard must have been correcting or encouraging him before now
It's not normal for human to react without prior reasons you sef think am
Like you said saliba and gabu committed errors which the fans and players backed them because it's not everytime
But as there ever been a match awilo look good, one of us said he's better in xhaka role he was played there and was also terrible
Nothing arteta haven't tried with him olule las las

I wouldn't blame Ode. For about a minute, Sambi didn't mark, didn't stay in position which means all the efforts of our forwards to win the ball back were futile. We're chasing the game and we needed to win the ball back ASAP.
