I have noticed this old trend of electricians placing distribution boxes in kitchen, despite all the hazardous warning that comes with it.

Is it a case of not working with an electrical drawing or Ignorance?

Its actually ignorance.there are so many things that can go wrong in the kitchen.
And I also see some people placing DBs in escape stairwell (bad engineering practice)

Where then is the ideal position for DBs?

A lot can go wrong if fixed in the kitchen


To me distribution board should not be installed anywhere, where there is a tendency of getting in contact with water or vapor

Distribution boards should not be installed around a fixed cooking appliance because of the heat it generates
