The phantom thread 7.5/10

I was skeptical about seeing this movie at first because it’s tagged as a “romance”. In fact, the only reason I decided to see it was because Daniel Day Lewis starred in it. I know him as a great actor and thought that even if I don’t enjoy the movie, I would at least get to enjoy great acting. And boy am I glad to have taken that decision.

This movie isn’t your regular “romance”. The movie at first is made to look like it’s going to be all about a lady trying to get a man to learn to love properly (you know? The usual cliche associated with romance). But it takes an unexpected turn as it progresses. This unexpected turn infused a bit of thriller to the movie thereby making it really good.

The acting was top notch. Daniel Day Lewis bodied his role as usual.

I’m giving this a 7.5 and not an 8 because I wasn’t satisfied with the way it ended.

I would recommend this movie to anybody who is a lover of good movies.

I think it will be a box office hit, it has made $26 million so far and today is the third day of it release.
Let's watch and see.
🙂🙂
Where can I download the authentic bluray version of Drishyam 2? The one on YTS is a shitty camrip.

Nah! We want them to do the galactic saga. Race on the belts of Saturn and beat an alien space lord just with the power of family.

the books are masterpieces...

I only read the first book and it's on my all time list of beat novels I've ever seen...
Including some Sydney Sheldon

Mario Puzo and Sydney Sheldon write in similar ways imo

Anyway the movie is a masterpiece...same as the Novel

If you read novels, you should check out James Hadley Chase novels and Sydney Sheldon novels

I've read all of Sheldon and almost all of JHC
Man the book is a masterpiece and Francis Ford Coppola been a master filmmaker brought it fantastically to motion picture.

Mario Puzo was a delightful writer in the crime genre i consider "The Godfather, The Sicilian and Omerta" is holy trinity.

I grew up in a household were your Christmas wishlist would most likely be granted if you request for novels and books and daily newspaper reading was a thing. I still have my Dad's archive of books and newspaper from yester years.

From Anezi Okoro's "One week, One Trouble" to Chinua Achebe's "Things fall apart" to John Grisham's "A time to kill" to Micheal Palmer's "The Patient" to Stephen King's "Full dark, No stars" to Dan Brown's "Digital Fortress' to Dean Koontz's Mr Murder ( He's my favourite author btw, i have read countless of his books). I voraciously read them all across multiple genre.

But recently "Life" has happened and for about 2 years now I don't seem to have the legs, time or concentration for reading again🥲, it's so bad that i am actively hoping the books i have currently now that i haven't read, are adapted into movies soonest to save me the hassle lol 😭😭...but i seriously hope i find my reading spark again 🙃

It was Daniel Day Lewis's final movie before retirement. Man is a genius actor. Top tier movie like you said. It was up for 6 Oscar including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actor eventually winning for best costume design i think.

Got back into reading fiction again during covid. Maintained it all the way till mid 2021 and then my work/studies just ate that window up too.
Been trying my best to carve out a new fictional reading time since.
Even great adaptations aren't enough to stop me from wanting to read the source.

Update

Jujutsu Kaisen 0 : 7/10

Pros
- Great action scene
- High quality animation (considering the amount of action, this is really impressive)

Cons
- They played it a little bit save towards the end, otherwise it would have been a solid 8.

Budget: $150,000
Box Office: $196,000,000

Netflix hope your learning.
any hopes for the next season?

Too 🧒🏻 childish, femcentric and overrated. This is why no one takes black people seriously. 🤡

You didn't do justice to the movie boss, its should sit somewhere around 3/10.

Piled up books to read during the lockdown eventually just settled for movies and series instead, and since then I haven't been able to fit books into my schedule.

Books tell a much better story than motion picture, written words describes it best letting your imagination run wild. Hopefully, i will get back to reading once my affairs are in proper order.

You are on a Horror/Thriller run?

Btw

Gore Verbinski did a madness with a "A cure for Wellness" (2016). The concept was so rad, looked a movie that Ari Aster would totally make. So i still wonder why the reviews were mixed to negative and why it was a box office bomb.
The biggest problem with the movie IMO is how so many graphic images had no bearing with the movie at the end. so many times we see symbolisms of things here and there only for the film to end and those things never got connected to the plot
