Ajumose:How long does it take for the cow to be ready for sale? |
| Re: Cow Business by AreaFada2: 8:09pm On Feb 02, 2023 |
Ajumose:Ok. If you buy say 5 cows of 130k, how old are they? What is their breed? Male. female or mixed? How long will they need herding be ready to sell off at the earliest? How easy are they to sell off at the end? Estimated selling final price/profit With herder-communities issues across the country, how secure will the cows be with herders you use? Thanks. |

Ajumose:But it's possible to ranch them |
| Re: Cow Business by Ajumose(op): 11:28pm On Feb 02, 2023 |
row2ray:Yes but for short time sales |
| Re: Cow Business by Earthstorms(m): 2:37am On Feb 03, 2023 |
Ajumose:Why do you say cow does not like to stay in one place for 2 weeks. What about other countries that keep their cows in ranches? Can you keep the cows in a ranch? Having the cows moving from place to place is not good and causes conflicts. I will be interested if you can do ranching. |
| Re: Cow Business by Ajumose(op): 6:20am On Feb 03, 2023 |
Earthstorms:The nature of Cow we have in nigeria not really good for ranching unless you buy from South Africa.... You can only put them in ranch for short term business ( Buy and sell) You can try our service. |
| Re: Cow Business by Earthstorms(m): 7:00am On Feb 03, 2023 |
Ajumose:What will happen if you keep the cows we have in Nigeria in a ranch? Will they die? Is there no solution to whatever problem ranching will cause? |
| Re: Cow Business by Ajumose(op): 11:42am On Feb 03, 2023 |
They won't grow well... Ranch only good for short term business.. like- buy cow and sell after 6 month when price rise Earthstorms: |
| Re: Cow Business by Hatesin: 4:02pm On Feb 03, 2023 |
Earthstorms:Ranching them do not cause any single problem. Na laziness about getting grasses for them..... There's no animal that doesn't like being let loose to move about but you cage them so they don't damage crops |
| Re: Cow Business by Earthstorms(m): 5:06pm On Feb 03, 2023 |
Hatesin:This is my thinking as well. But tractors can be used to cut and deliver grasses to the animals. The whole venture just need to be well planned and the right equipment procured. There is great prospect in it if the ranching option is explored. People can buy cows and keep in the ranch |
| Re: Cow Business by Curiouscity(m): 7:21pm On Feb 03, 2023 |
Earthstorms:This will only be possible in Nigeria when non-Fulani people go into cattle rearing. The nomadic Fulani believes that nomadic lifestyle is his heritage. Not about the cows, but his beliefs and sense of entitlement. |
| Re: Cow Business by Earthstorms(m): 7:28pm On Feb 03, 2023 |
Curiouscity:The non Fulani people are also believing that cows need to move from place to place. Take the OP as an example, he does not even want to consider ranching. |

row2ray:25 million Nigerians at high risk of food insecurity in 2023. Food security has become an issue of global concern in recent times. Nigeria, with her hugely endowed natural and human resources, is not spared. Food insecurity is regarded as a lack of consistent access to enough food for every person in a household to live an active, healthy life. This can be a temporary situation for a family or can last a long time. Food insecurity is one way we measure how many people can’t afford food. Nearly 25 million Nigerians are at risk of facing hunger between June and August 2023 (lean season) if urgent action is not taken, according to the October 2022 Cadre Harmonisé, a Government led and UN-supported food and nutrition analysis carried out twice a year.
