OkutaNla: So for the past 8 years of this administration, this is the first time Nigerians are experiencing disaster? The killings going on daily and the perennial fuel scarcity are not painful enough to have attracted your BAT to have spoken up for Nigerians? All of a sudden, he has turned a messiah because he spoke against a policy made by the administration he foisted on sane Nigerians...you must think we are all stupid! All through the 8 months of ASUU strike, we spoke up abi, when people were being killed at lekki, he fought for them abi. So because he is now speaking about what will be an encumbrance to vote buying, we should start jumping up, just gettat, you are pissing me off. |

Why is CBN causing hardship to the public for selfish reasons? The commercial banks do not have any cash available. CBN purposely causes suffering for the average man. Most banks are closed because they do not have the cash to pay out. Let the CBN make available to commercial banks the value of new notes as well as what the banks pay out on a daily basis. It is not the CBN's responsibility to control rigging; rather, it is in charge of monetary policy. 5 Likes 2 Shares |

Because of hate for Tinubu some ignorant Nigerians are supporting a policy that is counterproductive to their very own self. If old Naira not cease to be a legal tender as at Feb 10th, does that mean a man that has worked his life and saved money will suddenly lose it all just because he wasn’t able to take them to the bank before deadline? Especially judging from the fact that we have millions of unbanked people in Nigeria. If some people can be scared of one candidate to the extent of willingly manipulating the legal tender and plunging millions of people into hardship. That means in subsequent election, another president can willingly create a policy that will plunge further million of people into hardship to get back at his opponent and then the cycle continues. 6 Likes 2 Shares |

I concur. CBN should allow Nigerians to spend the new notes along with the old ones for at least the whole of 2023. Trying to prevent vote buying is not worth putting Nigerians through severe hardship by using cash scarcity as a weapon. Nigerian government risk bloody revolution if they are stubborn and inflexible with this their new note policy. 1 Like |

amnesty7: Please, I am babaolofin using this borrowed account having been banned by nairaland from making comments. I am not a person of hate. Coming to IMF statement on February 10 extension. It is an arrangement by Emefiele to save himself from disgrace and shame. IMF has nothing in this. Emefiele and FG must have made a plea to the IMF Country rep to save them from disgrace. Emefiele and Buhari should have heeded and listened to Atiku advice and refuse to extend the February 10 deadline. A man of high intellect and great divine endowments see troubles ahead before they happen and avoid them but fools think otherwise. Tinubu saw this crisis ahead and cried out. You cannot kill a great star destiny or ambition without destroying millions of lives. Tinubu is great star. Abiola is great star. Obasanjo is a great star but lower than Abiola or Tinubu Star. Emefiele and Buhari were alive in 1993 during the NTA Network Live Presidential debate between Abiola and Tofa. They asked Abiola if he will peg Naira to Dollar rate, Abiola told them a Glasgow Trained Accountant cannot say he will peg naira to dollar that it can never work. He said he would work on the forces pushing the dollar up. Tofa had earlier said he would peg the dollar to =N=10 / $1 or lesser. This led to another question from Tom Ikimi, Abiola told Ikimi his question is uncivilized. After the break, Ikimi requested for Apology from Abiola for passing insult on him which Abiola did. Nigeria does not need advice of IMF country representative to take this decision. It was a plan by Emefiele to save himself from disgrace and shame. 2 Likes 1 Share |

IMF should keep her advice to herself?Let CBN make cash available to banks to some extent and bank staff should make it available to the customers and again their various electronic platforms should be free of hiccups for ease of financial transactions. 1 Like |

OkutaNla: The new note has nothing to do with politics president Buhari is making sure that before he leaves office the naira should be at a certain low good exchange rate with the dollar. Just that Tinubu has already stock the new note hoping to use them to do havoc on election day considering is a bullion van user. Even if the deadline is extended Tinubu has already be casted because since there is no cash for the general public to access him stock once will not achieve the purpose they are met for |
