RESOLUTIONS OF THE NATIONAL COUNCIL OF STATE MEETING TODAY

“So by way of conclusion, the two major resolutions that were driven, arriving from the deliberations of the Council, are one that we are on course as far as election is concerned and we are happy with the level of preparation by INEC and the institutions.

“Two, relating to the naira re-designed policy, the policy stands, but then the Council agreed that there is need for aggressive action on the part of the Central Bank, as it relates to the implementation of the policy by way of ensuring adequate provision being made with regard to the supply of the naira in the system,”

The council is an advisory body.
It does not have authority to say the policy STANDS
It's statement has no legal force
The legal position will be determined by the Supreme Court .

What STANDS is the interim injunction of the Supreme Court

CBN will take the advice and ignore the Supreme Court order. It wasn't a party to the suit to begin with.

Uhmm.. Dude, but you're not that educated, apologies for being blunt.

Few comments up on this same thread, you used it's in place of its. ; which isn't the most appropriate pronoun to use in place of 'Council of State' though 🤔

Lol. Clearly you need to go back to school. The council of state is an advisory body to the executive.

The body has no executive power. Even the executive arm they advise cannot act unilaterally over all matters.

This is not upper Iweka beer parlour discussions where you people make garrulous and incredibly ignorant statements.

The National Council of States is an organ of the Nigerian Government. Its functions include advising the executive on policy making. The Council has no executive power, however plays an important advice and consent role in government operations.

As in....if the Council of State is the highest decision making body in Nigeria, the House of Senate is what? A playground for kindergartens? grin grin

People arguing for nothing.

Is there a definite answer to the question of if the old notes are still a legal tender or not.

The jargon up there didn't really say and some people are arguing for and against.

It only advised that the new notes should be made available.

In the interim, is the old currency still a legal tender. They should be a definite answer to this from the CBN while we await what the supreme court will say.

The conundrum is that the CBN is independent in monetary policy matters and takes instructions from the president.

Make we dey watch sha.
