IT guys in the house please I need Ur insight on this.

One of the things I planned to do this year is get an IT skill that will afford me the opportunity of getting a reasonable and decent job abroad in the nearest possible future. So I've been thinking of an IT skill I can learn that would require less of programming/coding knowledge ( which I actually don't have for now)

I've been reading about UI/UX design and I've been giving it more thought until recently I read about Cloud computing as well. I've read about Azure and AWS and don't know which of them is more in demand in the market (as an outsider in the field)

In terms of learning hours required, lesser knowledge of programming/coding required, how financially rewarding/high demand for the skills; which of UI/UX design and Cloud Computing would u suggest I go for?

I already contacted an IT institute where I intend to learn either of the two skills ( they run physical online classes), but I'm yet to make up my mind on which of the two skills to go for. I will appreciate Ur objective inputs.

To be perfectly honest, I'm not sure I would advise anybody to go into devops as in my mind, it's only a matter of time before CD as a service becomes a thing.

I was VCP and Citrix Xenapp certified back in the day, but IaaS with AWS and Azure was the extinction event for those technologies. Thankfully after one particularly onereous datacentre and domain migration in 2016, I decided to get out the infrastructure game for good. The barrier for entry in terms of skills were getting higher and higher, and the wages were being aggresively driven down in the opposite direction particularly by indian immigrants and offshore indian consultancies willing to work for 2 sticks of white london and a packet of biscuits.

The one thing that cannot be offshored as at yet is soft skills. Last year, I took on a contract with one of the biggest Indian consultancies to be the face of a delivery for one of their big pharma clients, not because they lacked the required skill profiles, but because I have a British accent and have extensive experience dealing with senior stakeholders.

Post-brexit, the competition for Infrastructure roles is ridiculously fierce, as the Europeans are now forced to compete on a more level playing field with extremely hungry, and very experienced ROW talent who are happy to live in the server room and never speak. On the development front too, I was advising product team during a 3 month contract last year, where the engineering talent is in Ukraine. We go dey standup on teams dey hear air raid siren and bombs in the distance. Senior Dev resource being underpaid by 30-35k because theyre in a a warzone and GBP is better than a dead currency

I understand that Blueraydick needs to start from somewhere and cant just jump into architecture, but mehn the amount of stuff you will need to learn as a total newbie to compete with the talent chasing those jobs for relatively low pay makes to difficult to recommend. Emphasis on total newbie.
