Good morning lady's and gentlemen of this forum

I moved into a miniflat apartment early last year only to discover that on the postpaid meter the house had an outstanding of over a ₦150,000 yet unpaid. As time went on I got to know that it's always a tug of war between my co-tenants and IKEDC officials so much that even when the current bill is paid, the IKEDC officials still come around to demand we pay for the outstanding debt or else the light is disconnected, in a nutshell in a month we've 3 different IKEDC officials coming to harass us over electricity bills.

This happened severally in the first few months which made me consult my landlord on application of a prepaid meter for the house and he promised he would apply for it around July last year. During this period IKEDC brought crazy bills of over ₦50,000 for my floor which consists of 3 miniflat and 2 self con apartments. This led to me and the co-tenants writing a letter to NERC to express our grievances but nothing was done about it, the final straw that broke the camels back was when IKEDC served the apartment a notice of disconnection in October and disconnected the light, only to bring over ₦90,000 as Bill in November even after serving us a notice of disconnection and also disconnecting the light.

Since October till now that I'm typing this my apartment as been in darkness and the landlord said he'd applied for the meter since September but he is having issues with getting tokens for payment and can't continue with The process in getting the prepaid meter delivered. I noticed my landlord went ahead to get a dummy prepaid meter for the second floor of the apartment while ignoring our own plight on the down floor so as to get new tenants to occupy the apartment's vacated by old tenants. Now the tenants since they came in have also been in darkness and no one is saying anything about it.

Please I need advice on what to do regarding this issue at hand.... Forgive any misspellings in the course this write up, I'm just a young man distraught and frustrated at the callousness of his supposed landlord

...... Truly, for you to be able to do something, it's gonna be a miracle.... First you or your landlord have to write a letter to those little greedy thief (IKEDC) to stop bringing bill to your house again because of the disconnection, so bill will stop coming. Those thief (IKEDC) needs settlement that's the reason why they are harassing your household...
