Elijah's contest with the prophets of Baal was not evidence of God's existence but rather of supremacy.

These are two different hypothetical questions.

We can only describe God's existence through common sense, logic and reasoning. If you did any philosophy in school you should understand what I am saying.

For example, if I say there's life after death. There's to experiment to prove it. Because even if we kill someone, there's no way to tell as the person won't return back to life. Therefore the only way to describe life after death is through common sense, logic and reasoning.
