The possibility of postponement of the election is very high.

The reasonable thing is to calm his people down and tell them to comply with the directive from the FG, while him and/or the FG work on ways to alleviate their sufferings. It's better they miss out on business for say 2 months than lose their capital and whatever profit they might have gained while refusing to obey the monetary policy decision from the FG.

The only reason El-Rufai is telling them to continue spending their money is because he does not want to cause them "slight pain" now so he doesn't miss out on harvesting their votes come election day, meanwhile, he's leaving them open to the disastrous prospect that might meet them should the candidate he's supporting fail to win.

There are governors in several other states who have not even commented on the issue yet their states are calm...El Rufai is just being himself and he'd do or say anything to win elections, after all, he was the same person that threatened to send foreign election observers back in body bags.
The first paragraph makes sense

El rufai fought d wrong fight oga.

His agitation would have been plausible if he wanted d new money put into circulation...not going head to head with d FG and spreading FALSE alarrm about people trying to sabotage BAT's candidacy...

Instead of alerting his people to try as much as possible to deposit d old notes why using same platform to print out new currency

The guy na big idiot....

Instead ot
El Rufai spoke last week at the deadline when it was obvious that people cannot get new notes and CBN was not capable of meeting the notes demand

If CBN had printed enough money to meet demands in the past 4 months there wont be a need for El Rufai to come out

And this scarcity is going to affect all APC candidates including El Rufais candidates from councillor, HoA, HoR Senate Governorship and Presidency
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by Ihebu4chelsea(m): 5:02pm On Feb 15, 2023
Even if Apc presents osibanjo at this point, He will still Fail!!!! Thank you Buhari!

The FG directive is to deposit all old notes and what will the people use to transact business? Was the new note available

How do you alleviate suffering in the North where they are even more cash dependent than us in the South

Most people in the North are not even literate to use mobile apps or transfers they depend fully on cash. So how is complying with FG directive going to help his populace. After the deadline without El Rufais speech, How will they do business in Kaduna and stop chaos

The only way he can alleviate for him is to calm them down and use the cash they have on them since new ones are not coming

So what is the effect of his loggerhead with d FG.....huh

He doesn't seems to be fighting for d people rather a for a motive that seems to be "money kept for vote buying".

He would have been applauded if the fight was all about printing money rather than keeping d old ones(wch is believed to be kept somewhere for vote buying)

If you believe he is fighting for d people then you can believe anything...

The chaos isn't about d new money but d availability of d new money...so i don't think any body aligned with his loggerhead with d FG........

So in all..... the governors of a certain party are trying to run a parralel govhuh?

Will it yield a good fruit or help Buhari attain his ambitionhuh?

Time with tell .

Everything just jaga jaga.....

I think d banks are d biggest beneficiary of d chaos n confusion......

How true is this??

Is the LASG saying it will prosecute people who reject the old notes?
Let's say the Supreme Court compels the CBN to extend the time frame but Emiefele and Buhari(as usual) disregard the judgement...
With commercial banks not accepting the old notes, what will now happen to people who reject the old notes?
Will they be thrown in jail, pay a fine or business license or whatever permit they have stripped...

What if Tinubu doesn't win, what happens to the masses who are in the middle and are being tugged on both sides by the Tinubu faction(governors encouraging their people to keep on using the old notes) and the Buhari faction(CBN)?

So much for the change that some people were sure we would witness with APC despite the antecedents of it's flagbearer in the 80's...

The effect is that it probably delayed riots and public protest in his state which would have led to destruction of lives and property

As at the day El Rufai spoke

These are the facts

2 days to close of deadline
The CBN does not have enough new notes to go around despite trying for 120days
People especially in El Rufais region depend on raw cash for daily transactions
Other states were already rioting because of these

If we agree with these facts then how will a governor arrest the situation. Just giving speeches and calming people down without a solution wont do

There are nineteen Northern states in Nigeria and as far as I know, it's only like 3 governors that have come out to say their people should continue spending these old notes - Kano, Kaduna, and Zamfara. Those remaining 16 governors that didn't tell their people to go against the FGs directive, why haven't their states been engulfed in riots?

You delay small riots today only to create a situation for deadly riots in a couple of months time when people realize their monies have now become as useless as toilet paper.

This is no different from when Emefiele banned crypto transactions and Nigerians laid curses on him for preventing them from enjoying full access to the crypto market only for a couple of months time the crypto market took a major hit. Temporary inconvenience yea, but a potentially disastrous outcome in the future, no.

Boss shey na PDP cause this wahala? Hell No..

What are exactly you expecting opposition parties/PDP to do?

APC controls National Asembly, Installed Supreme Court CJ.
His statement was clear enough na. He meant that PDP is not taking advantage of the situation as they should have done.

By now, PDP is supposed to be everywhere raining fire and brimstone on the APC. Just Imagine if this was PDP in 2015 and APC the opposition.

I mentioned PDP as a useless opposition because they are not doing what a proper opposition should be doing. Imagine this nonsense under PDP govt and APC is the opposition and see the difference.

Opposition are meant to keep the present administration on their toes, PDP has failed woefully in that aspect.
I didn't even see this before I responded. This thread is flying at the speed of light. Just a few hours away, I have countless pages to run through

What kind of hypocrisy is that?

That is because in most of those states they are still collecting the old notes. I can assure you in the rural areas North especially and even south people will still be using old notes. Cos if new notes is this scarce for those of you with 20banks in your area how terrible will it be for those with 1 bank over 100 kilometers

There is no way you tell people that

1. Old notes are useless
2. New notes are not available
3. Deposit your old note and go home empty handed
4. Go and use transfers only

And you wont see riots

These are the 4 options facing Nigerians right now
