The police boss made the disclosure on Thursday when he appeared at the Ministerial Media Briefing organised by the Presidential Communications Team at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Usman Alkali, has revealed that to ensure the smooth conduct of the forthcoming 2023 general elections, over 400,000 personnel from Nigeria’s various security agencies will be deployed across the country. The police boss made the disclosure on Thursday when he appeared at the Ministerial Media Briefing organised by the Presidential Communications Team at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. The IGP, according to a Nigerian Tribune report, explained that out of the 400,000 personnel, the police will be providing over 300,000 personnel while the rest will be sourced from complementary security agencies. Meanwhile, Alkali identified the persistent fuel and naira scarcity as one of the challenges threatening the successful conduct of the general elections. He however assured that the situation will be stabilised before the commencement of the exercise.
