OkpaNsukkaisBae, I'm seeing on frontpage that obi has gone to Enugu himself to campaign for edeoga.

Surely this seals the deal for edeoga in the state?. Any indication obidients in the state will reject edeoga?

You personally, how are you voting?

That's why I like my imo state oo, rochas wanted to try this rubbish by imposing his in-law as a gorvernor after his tenure finished..

People show am say theres always a bigger fish 🐟

Amaechi backed Atiku and I believe he is backing Tonye Cole

While WIke backed Tinubu and he is backing Fubara

Wike took after Obasanjo in politics of brutality and those type of people you dare not go toe to toe with them especially when they have machinery of the state working for them

Obasanjo will impeach any governor against him, the number of unsolved political murders under 8yrs OBJ alone, we have never matched it in the following 16yrs

Anyone living in Port Harcourt knows how this project is going? The billions of dollars spent will not generate 1Naira because of politicking

In 30yrs time, the people living in PH then will ask why dnt they have a monorail like Lagos despite having oil for almost 100yrs maybe they will remember that one Wike, sacrificed the project for politics like Buhari did for Lagos metro of Jakande, like GRV will likely do

This one was just a waste of money. Amaechi sinked 54bn into this thing that didn't get anywhere. It would have taken more than a trillion naira to complete it and for what? If this was meant to be a way out of the traffic situation along Aba road, Wike has solved it to a great extent with far less money. At the time it was even being built, I doubt bus was more than 200 naira from where it originated from to the proposed destination.

It has nothing to do with politics. Wike completed some other projects Amaechi left behind. He was right to have stopped this particular one.

Between the monorail and good inter-connecting roads around the city, which is more of a priority?

It was someone that was saying Wike has fixed roads so much that there's practically no traffic in the city again, and all inner city roads have been fixed. You think if you ask me to choose between a monorail for Benin City and all inner-city roads fixed I'd go for the monorail? Or bridges and good inner city roads I'd go for the bridge?

GRV is about creating simple solutions to simple problems, not dumping infrastructure that doesn't serve the majority of the person's. You should listen to GRV more cheesy, if you listen to him you'd see he isn't particularly big on big big infrastructures... simple problems, simple solutions...complex problems, simple solutions.

I don't know about the rail. Some projects might not be for immediate concerns but for future growth potential. When Buhari was canceling Jakandes train in 1984, he probably thought whats the use of train for $100m when danfo bus can get there with 50K tfare

I don't know the terrain of PH but I believe some feasibility study must have been done and some issues addressed by this project before they signed and committed money into it. 54bn shouldn't just go to waste like that. I believe its better to complete it. The fare will make money, people will work there and have a job and the traffic on the road will be less

A city like Lagos with its challenges need more than simple solutions

Lagos has small land, has a very dense population that keeps growing. There might be a time with the way we are going that 30% of Nigerias population will be living in Lagos

So there is a limit to which expansion of roads can work. the volume of cars will be increasing and even 10 lane roads cannot cater what is next is to look for solutions that dnt have land constraints like water travel for areas with water access and taking the transport above the ground or underground (I dunno how the water logged state of Lagos will support this)

A place like Benin does not have these challenges, it has enough land and doesnt have the water body restriction that PH and Lagos have. If you need 200 sqKm in Benin/Edo state that is currently unoccupied you will find it(exagerrated number but you get the point). Tell me where you will see 50 sqkm in PH or Lagos that is unoccupied

That land limitation is why they are trying to reclaim land from the ocean. That also has its limit. Few days ago boys were swearing say places like Ikorodu you cant even get lands. When I was growing up 80s 90s, going to Ikorodu is like saying you are going to Ekiti state. That time they can probably give you 100 acres for free in some areas

To show you how useless the project was, cabinet members at the time refused to approve the project. Amaechi had to dissolve them and reconstituted the cabinet after the project was awarded.

Everytime I pass that place and try to sample the opinion of people, what they always say is, what was Amaechi thinking?

There's a popular saying in stock trading, you don't use good money to chase bad money. Sometimes you just have to count your losses and move on.

I can't argue PH with you cos I don't know anything about the place, I will defer to you and other PH people on it

I can agree that it might not be a pressing priority but I don't think its a totally useless project in a city like PH, water logged, getting overpopulated with land limitation

But like I said, I am just an internet observer who does not know much about the situation on ground

There is a limit to how far road infrastructure can go in a crowded city. It is not a simple problem. Most western nations have mini rail in their cities.

Imagine all you have to do is catch the train and you can be in marina in 30 minutes. No story. No trailer fall on the road, no stop and search. Same thing in the evening. Close from work enter train and sleep.

Parts of the Lagos Badagry road are shaping up and they are already reducing the time it takes me to get from point a to point b. If they complete the bridge from second rainbow to orile /apapa oshodi express, 1 hour will be shaved off my morning commute straight.

It just sounds like soundbites of a person who doesn't have an idea of the scope of the problem.

Yea, I agree there's a place for advanced solutions to problems, especially for a city like Lagos, but we need to have first exhausted the simple solutions before complicating things. GRV insists that there's so many low-hanging fruits that will fix a good number of problems facing Lagos. Nigerian politicians are notorious for engaging projects that are more or less a waste of money...and yea, nothing stops planning for the future too with projects today, but there's a way you go about it such that you're not sabotaging today.

The difference is that, Amaechi, Odili and Wike are all career politicians. SIM is a civil servant.

I look at SIM and I see someone who will be overrun by opposition parties if he does not have someone like Wike pulling the plug.

That guy just does not have it in him. I don't see him retiring Wike. If he tries it, he will be lucky to win his next election after 4 years.

In the next 4yrs another 10m population increase in Lagos in form of natural birth and migration plus add another 1million vehicles and see how these Lagos Badagry road becomes a hellhole

Either influx into Lagos is reduced by making other states livable and other governors responsive or creative solutions beyond the basic

Obaseki was an administrator before politics, it's why till now man has zero pull in the state. Him being able to pull the rug from underneath Osho baba was more about the people that didn't want that sort of arrangement, and the fact that he did too much damage to the candidate he was now selling to us in the previous election cycle. Obaseki had at strategic points within the city, and on TV/radio tapes of Oshiomhole tearing into Ize-Iyamu, and that was more than enough for most.

What are some of the simple solutions that can be implemented that can resolve traffic for example in Lagos

Put in mind the constraints and peculiarities of Lagos. Land mass, water logging, population congestion and future increase in population

Obaseki was not a politician and I don’t think he is one even now. Obaseki was in the private sector before he became governor. He never held any public/political office before he became governor. He was not even a member of any political party. The “political magic” he seemed to have performed against Oshiomole was due to the mindset of the Edo people and the influence of Philip Shuaib.

For civil service states, GRVs solutions may work. For lagos state - they have been building road infrastructure since the 80s and the population keeps overtaking it.

Build one bridge in a civil service state capital and you have sorted traffic for the next 10 years

Unless there is a viable alternative to road transport, this will continue imho

Odili started everything. My people were in opposition and suffered the worst of it. That's when Ateke was brought in by Odili and Sekibo to wreak havoc. Ateke tied one girl in my village to flying boat and dragged her across the water till she drowned. Some villages were burned to the ground including mine. I lost a cousin fighting against Ateke boys. In that same battle, Asari joined our side and Ateke was on ropes, but Odili delivered military and guns to Ateke side to finish the story.
