toluxe0075: Damn, so A24 got a clean sweep. ๐คฏ๐คฏ๐ Mad oo. I'm very happy that Angela Bassett didn't get the Oscar for Best Supporting. I would have tagged that award premium Jokers. Cos I don't see any Oscar worthy performance she dropped in that film to even worth a nomination. She was good in it, but an Oscar nomination? Fvvk NO!!! 1 Like |

Nickshrapnel: I believe so too. I hate that Jamie Lee Curtis took the win but I'd prefer her over Angela. Curtis didn't do anything special to me to also warrant a win or alternatively a nomination. Dolly De Leon should have occupied her position. At least Curtis was in a top tier movie. Not that mid AF film that Bassett was in. To me, they just snuck her name in there to appease the MCU fans and gullible people who thinks the film is a proper African movie or black power projection. Stephanie Hsu truly deserved it. I'm pained that the award favoured more veteran actors familiar with the academy than an upstart. At least, it was for a good movie. |

toluxe0075:Different taste sha. Buh I'm not a fan of this movie. Don't get the hype. A very weird movie, seems that's what the critics and Oscars value. So not surprised 3 Likes |

Karleb: Yep that's life. I'm still pissed those people get liver add Bassett for that nomination list sha. When there was people like Natasha Lynch, Dolly De Leon. All I'm happy is that great movies came at the last lap of last year to save the year, in what could have been an atrocious lineup of film quality since 2020. |

What actors/movies nominations that you expected but didn't see at this year's Oscars and you're pissed about?? Or what wins last night didn't go down well with you?? I can see some significant amount of people complaining about EEAAO. But for me, that film TOTALLY DESERVED IT. As for my grips with the Oscars 2023..... The Batman was robbed for not being nominated in best Cinematography or Original Score. ๐ก Also D@#iel Dยฃ@dwylโฌยฎ was robbed for not getting nominated for #Till. Babylon should have been there ahead of Top Gun: Maverick. 2 Likes 2 Shares

abduleez1: Let the big studios win the money game while A24 wins the Oscars game. ๐ As for Angela, I feel she played the grieving mother quite well. Whether she wins or not isnโt of any concern to me because everyone in that category deserves to win. But I was actually rooting for either of Kerry Condon of โThe Banshees of Inisherinโ or Hong Chau of โthe whale.โ The big one for me is still Brendan Frasers win. Early last year before the whale movie came out, people were asking about him on Reddit. That was when I got to know of the various life challenges heโs been facing over the years. Iโm really happy for him because he is about to get very busy. 1 Like |

abduleez1: To be fair, not a lot of great movies within the purview of the award window to pick from and it afforded the academy to make decisions on White guilt, reparations and pity. The Best actress nod going to Michelle Yeoh, is totally worth it and the only other worthy contender to her was Cate Blanchett in that line up, going back to my opening paragraph, "not a lot of great movies to pick from". Michelle Yeoh's team actually went on a run of "guilt trip" campaign to ensure she got that win, and there might have actually be fire in the movie verse and backlash on "Caucasian" Supremacy at the oscars. The academy was not ready for that PR nightmare after Last year's dรฉbรขcle. The Best Actor Award, is a straight up "pity award" and Collin Ferrell had a better performance and deserved it. Immediately i saw "The Whale", i knew Brandan Fraser was gonna get it, the movie was the arch-type oscar bait, with how Hollywood has been treating him over the past few years and it was somewhat infused into the screenplay of the movie, he was bulls eye set to win it, Just like Leonardo DiCaprio's win for "The Revenant". Happy for Brandan Fraser tho, all around good guy and a sound actor, that needs this oscar win more than ever to get him going again in Hollywood. Best Supporting actor was fair. The weakest line up i have seen in years so i called it between Barry Keoghan and Ke Huy Quan. Ke Huy Quan was charming in EEAAO... thoroughly deserved. Best Supporting actress. This going to Jamie Lee Curtis was an absolute sham and a bad joke. She had around 15 mins screen time in EEAAO so I don't understand the rationale behind this. This was supposed to be between Stephanie Hsu and Kerry Crodon. Angela Bassett been nominated was probably for aesthetic, ain't no way mama was getting that award in a million years. Best International Feature, again another weak line up, and "All quiet on the Western Front" Deserved it. Best Original song, I thought "Hold my hand" deserved it but "Natu Natu" was also good. Best Picture, considering the grand scheme of things, EEAAO was probably the most deserving of it. I mean, they got 4 out of the big 5 awards and the domination was so much that even it's main contenders like "The Fableman", The Banshees of Ineshirin" couldn't even get a sniff. All in all, There wasn't many great movies or wow performances to pick from, says alot about the direction of movies these days btw. So i welcome the "A24" Supremacy ๐, one of my favourite movie studio and they deserve all the flowersโ๏ธ๐บ. 3 Likes 2 Shares |

is it possible for someone to win a supporting character Oscar for starring in a very mid movies. I'm asking because of people that are claiming that Angela Bassett should have won |
Re: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by Flamemignon1(m): 5:11pm On Mar 13, 2023 |
Gmajor:Opinions are subjective. Some people thought her performance was mid, some thought it was great....at the end of the day,Jaime Lee Curtis got the highest vote. It's just like my opinion that Cate was robbed for Elizabeth at the 1999 Oscars with Gwyneth winning best actress that year for Shakespeare in love |

toluxe0075: What I'm happy about this year's Oscars is Brendan Fraser's renaissance and A24 Supremacy. ๐๐ I'd be pained if in the future a major comes to buy the indie Studio. It's flavour of movies is a breath of fresh air. 1 Like |

Kaycee7: Very stupid people.... Look at the stupid movies they put out at Cinematography. The Batman would easily chew those movies in this year's list. Oscars love and have a history of doing that shit to Batman. ๐ก Even AGBA Cinematographer like Roger Deakins know say na scam. |

Blueelf: Many of you saying you're surprised EEAAO won the Best Picture sounds very funny to me. It's clear you peeps haven't been following this season's award campaign. The film has been racking all the major awards from the BAFTAs, Golden Globes, SAG Awards etc all the way to the Oscars. So it ain't a surprise. 2 Likes |
