"Former Brazil defender, Dani Alves is "refusing to eat" and 'wants to be locked in his cell" for most of the day, according to Cuatro al dia.This follows his reported split from his wife Joana Sanz.

Sanz appeared to announce that she was splitting from Alves via Instagram.

Alves has been jailed since January 2023 due to alleged sexual assault.

According to the report, Alves had been telling fellow inmates that his wife loved him and was supporting him amid the serious sexual assault allegations.

But now the player "is completely devastated and very nervous."

Alves used to share a prison cell with another inmate, but is now alone and "wants to be locked up" the whole time.

No date has been set for Alves' trial yet.
