Soludo's plan is to advance the whole Anambra major cities of Onitsha, Awka, Nnewi and Ekwulobia, so that it will continue to lead in east. This is what imo state has failed to do. Today Owerri is still an undeveloped glorified village littered with dilapidated roads and filthy environment. Imo state needs to develop, more especially Owerri.

Im not against properties being destroyed, what Im against is for a property to be destroyed for no good reaaon

If Soludo is doing this for a good reason then fine

If not, there are other alternatives to destruction

Owerri is a glorified rural area ravaged by dilapidated roads, Owerri needs to be fixed and urban renewal done, if not millions of imo indigenes will continue to troop to better cities of Onitsha, Enugu, Awka, Asaba, even Abakaliki to live..

It is a shame that no other Igbo state comes to live in Owerri. Owerri should be demolished and rebuilt

ACTDA Begins Demolition of Illegal structures Obstructing road construction

By Chinelo Ajulufo

The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA)Mr Ossy Onuko has reiterated his resolve and commitment towards transforming Awka Capital Territory to a Mega City.

The ACTDA Helmsman said this today at Unizik temporary Site road Awka, during the demolition of illegal structures standing in the way of achieving a standard road befitting a State Capital.

Mr Onuko said this has become necessary because those buildings are delaying the pace of developing the road.

In his speech, the Chief of Staff to the State Government,Mr Ernest Ezeajughi who appreciated the efforts of ACTDA Boss in ensuring smooth Construction of a dual carriage road also noted that the construction of the dual carriage road will open up the city, adding that at the completion of the road project, residents within Awka Capital Territory and Ndi Anambra will appreciate the State Government.

In reaction, Miss Chinwend Orji, a petty trader at Unizik junction said it is a welcome development, adding that they have been served several vacation notices by the Authority,MOI.

Good.

This improperly build buildings can not be hindering Awka's urban renewal.

Anambra has getting it right since the time of Peter Obi. Obiano and now Soludo.

Abia has remained the worst state in Nigeria with umuahia and aba remaining slums.

Now that Peter Obi has rescued abia state by giving them Alex Otti, let's see if Abia will experience good governance for once since 1999.

Abia has suffered so much as a state

The ICC was the talk of the town yesterday across the country, but later one wizzyvibes will come to say rubbish and compare obiano to umahi. Obiano made sure Anambra left the rest SE states 100 years behind.. This is why they hate him so much. Thats why most of them were celebrating voting out their useless governors.

Can you imagine getting a view like the pic below in any state in SE. Soludo has promised to intensify work in the airport too.

Keynote of Soludo's speech yesterday as he marked his 1 year anniversary

"Within the first nine months, we awarded 261 kilometers of roads in all 21 local government areas, with cement stabilization and stone based, guaranteed to last for 20 years. We also paid Contractors a mobilization fee of 30-50 percent.

"We are desilting drainages and will launch a major initiative with a comprehensive framework to address flooding issues next week.

"For decades, there has been a lack of planning for our cities and communities, resulting in flooding. People are constructing on the waterways. We see flooding in the street every time it rains. This is being tackled head-on!

"We had a full brainstorming session with EEDC on power supply. Our goal is to provide electricity in Anambra's major cities 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We signed an agreement with EEDC on power transmission and distribution in Anambra yesterday, and the state should have 24/7 power supply within the next two years.

"We converted 6,380 diesel-powered streetlights into solar streetlights. Anambra is getting back a night-life economy," the Governor declared.

The Governor spoke about his administration's efforts in the transportation sector; which include to construct modernized riverine water transportation, redesigning of inter-city and intra-city transportation systems, designing of modern bus terminals, ongoing construction of Anambra Airport, completion of feasibility study for a sky train pilot in Onitsha, among others.
The Governor said; "32,000 hectares of land at Agulu Lake have been purchased to build an Africa leisure and entertainment hub known as African Disney Land.

"A new palm and coconut revolution is underway in agriculture. We're returning to our roots. Back in the day, the Eastern region's economy was the fastest, built on the foundation of palm. When crude oil arrived, we abandoned our roots. After four years, a poor household with ten seedlings will be permanently out of poverty. 150,000 coconuts and 220,000 palms were donated to alleviate poverty and economic hardship.

The Governor pointed out that his administration is vigorously pursuing industrialisation plan, having developed a framework, acquisition of 53 hectares of land at Ukpo for export emporium, 100 hectares of commercial land at Ukwuli, 80 hectares of automotive industrial park in Akwihedi, Unubi and Uga.

"Anambra Government received a free donation of 200 hectares of land in Ogboji for Anambra pharmaceutical hub from indigenes.

"Private schools and public schools predominate in our educational system. The private sector dominates the Anambra educational system. Anambra's most valuable resource is human capital. To be productive and exportable to the rest of the world, we must mine it. The quality of a school is determined by the quality of its teachers and the quality of its teaching. We ended an era of schools without teachers by recruiting 5000 people through an open source application portal for transparency," Soludo maintained.

"In terms of health, we upgraded three general hospitals in Ekwulobia, Enugwu Ukwu, and Umuleri, including dental units, hired 244 medical personnel, and activated a ministry of health taskforce. Our health is our most valuable asset.

"To build a digital tribe, we established the solution innovation district. We signed an agreement with Microsoft. We set out to teach 20,000 young people fundamental and advanced digital skills. Over 10,000 people have already applied online within few days it was launched. This year's Anambra Talent Inventory and Innovation Week will take place in October.

"We began the one youth, two skills programme. It's all about the youths. We are training approximately 5000 of them and have set aside a few billion dollars to empower them.

"We reformed how Government works in terms of Governance and value system. There is a problem if the public sector cannot provide service to the people. We developed a reform strategy, restructured MDAs to align with our agenda, and over 15 states are having difficulty paying salaries. We improved workers' welfare and increased wages by 10%, paid pensioners' pensions and gratuities since 2018, cleared backlogs, transitioned from transactional to transformational governance, and saved the state N10.4 billion from new contracts awarded by the state government," Soludo stressed.

"Anambra has been without a functioning government house and lodge for the past 31 years. Massive construction, including 25 peripheral structures, is underway to provide Anambra with a fitting government house and lodge here in Awka.

"We increased the IGR base from 1.5 billion naira monthly to 2 billion naira monthly with a target of reaching 5 billion in 2023. If every onye Anambra living in the state and elsewhere can pay 5% of their income to Anambra, we will be at a higher level in three years.

Nwokem, without diminishing Umahi's excellent projects,, Obiano performed way better than Umahi.

Apart from Obiano's physical infrastructural projects, he heavily invested in human resources improvement and poverty alleviation projects to reduce poverty in Anambra.

Conversely Umahi used money which could have been wisely invested in education, agriculture and Healthcare to build too many flyovers at irrelevant junctions. This is not to say his countless multicolored flyovers are a bad thing. But if you consider that he ruled the state with the worst poverty in Southern Nigeria and one of the least human development index in Nigeria, his multicolored flyovers where there were no traffic becomes a tragic misuse of public wealth. While we have praised Umahi for doing many concrete roads to ease accessibility to rural parts of Ebonyi state. I believe the money he spent on too many flyovers where there were no traffic gridlock as a tragic waste of precious state resources.

Unike Wike that also built multiple flyovers because he ruled a state with serious traffic problems and relatively more wealthy citizens. Umahi had no such problems. Yet he acted like he had some inferiority complex that flyovers were a symbol of development and to prove Ebonyi was developed he had to have more flyovers. Thus he went on a flyover building spree while other areas of human development suffered.. Umahi's only useful projects are the concrete roads, Abakaliki mall and airport. Even at that it is questionable if those projects will be viable due to the crushing poverty rate in his state. That is why I praise Umahi and bash him sometimes for doing nothing on the poverty alleviation front.Overall I rate Umahi as a great transformative governor, but he could easily have been the greatest Igbo governor since 1999 and done better on all fronts not just on physical infrastructure, and thus be rated as a well rounded governor.

When you make a good point I will agree with you. Umahi wasted Ebonyi state funds on irrelevant projects due to his inferiority complex and people are celebrating him....I laugh at their ignorance and shortsightedness. Ebonyi should be investing aggressively in human capital development not a fucking airport and flyover.

Eke Awka Road Encroachment Challenge By Traders Appears To Have Been Solved

Driving through Eke Awka market in Anambra state has always been nightmarish because of the heavy traffic caused majorly by motorists packing illegally, and traders displaying their wares by the roadside.

With this newly constructed barricade, that problem appears to have been solved. Hopefully, OCHA Brigade and the market leadership will help enforce and ensure that traders and buyers don’t breach the barricade.

Those petty traders behind the fence must they be there ? The place still look dirt and poor. Why cant we stop road side petty trade or build a market where they can all go. They are still defacing the place.....we should have decent stalls on that vicinity not groundnut and ogiligbo sellers

I’ve been meaning to ask when the Soludo admin’ would kickstart the process of tapping into the huge diaspora it has as a way of financing some of the projects listed. Just seen something about it mentioned in the ’how we plan to make all this happen’ section. It wasn’t given much attention though and seems only to have been mentioned in passing! This scheme could guarantee the state gov’t at least $500 million a year if well driven and implemented, and should have been one of the hallmarks of the Soludo admin’!

Why i rooted for him was my belief in his capacity to think outside the box! So the state gov’t should get serious with tapping into its vast diaspora to help fund its projects delivery. I’m not from Anambra, yet can willingly invest £300 for the next three years in any scheme the gov’t comes up with, and i imagine there’d be tens of thousands more like me scattered all over the globe!
