Clearly, all these people across party divides know that the major problem and obstruction to proper economic growth is to cut down cost of governance, appoint less people and everything that points in the direction of reducing government spending BUT at the center you Nigerians have decided to elect money spender, Mr. Share-it-all, na small remain.... as una make this bed na so una go lay on top am

Empty words...!

Since Yar'adua, we are yet to see an honest politician!

Maybe not in this generation!

Peter Obi is another politician that scored high in honesty and integrity. Imagine leaving behind N75 billion and cutting d cost of governance; who has ever done that in Nigeria? Instead, they 'll squander all d money and borrow on top.

Now, that's true...! Obi tried!

If only a serious and prudent human being can lead the nation by seriously cutting down cost of governance, and prioritizing exports.

Hmmm... If not for greed I see no reason for these governors to start looting the system. Most of them didn't spend their money to win elections, they were handpicked and rigged into office to cover the tracks of their predecessors.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on how to cut the cost of governance. It's an important topic that has been the subject of much debate in Nigeria and around the world.

Your ideas on reducing the number of political appointees and streamlining government agencies and departments certainly have merit, and could potentially help to cut down on waste and inefficiencies.

However, I also believe that it's important to consider the human impact of any cost-cutting measures. It's essential that we don't inadvertently harm those who are already struggling, particularly the most vulnerable members of our society.

One possible solution might be to look at ways to increase efficiency and reduce costs without compromising on essential services or programs. For example, investing in new technologies or innovative solutions could help to streamline government operations and reduce waste, while also improving the quality of service delivery for citizens.

Ultimately, I believe that the key to effective governance lies in finding a balance between efficiency and effectiveness, while also prioritizing the needs and interests of all citizens. Let's work together to find sustainable, equitable solutions that will help to create a brighter future for all.

Talk is cheap. What about the so called security vote, which I learned is about N500,000,000.00 every month and it's unaccounted for by any governor? What about replacing furniture and utensils with each new governor, without any account of the old furniture and utensils? What about some governors having thousands of personal assistants and advisers? Not to talk about the frivolous allowances for the governors, their families and even to their friends and relatives? The list is endless. Oh!! I even forgot about their world class pensions for working or rather stealing for four or eight years, while denying pensioners who have worked for 35 years or more their stipends called pension. And most of them die without receiving either their pension or gratuity. GOD WILL JUDGE OUR POLITICIANS AND THEIR JUDGEMENT WON'T BE GOOD FOR THEM AND THEIR FAMILIES.

Obi said it and did it in Anambra state cutting down the huge cost of Governance You all can copy Peter Obis statement but lets wait and see you implement it in your states.

Easier said than done.

Na so Mahmoud said election results will be transmitted in real time yet unable to upload results a month after election.

Governance is like whac-a-mole. When you stop one problem, another arises. Running a lean Govt all US incoming president have promised but ALL of them in recent times have expanded the cost of Governance and added to the deficits...why? You can't cut staffs and expect to be popular.

Getting rid of PDP bloated corruption by using single treasury account was great but with corrupt money, no new money to build houses in Abuja or to pay ladies which trickes down.

Cash Crunch has limited kidnapping but lots of people have died from lack of cash..money that they are entitled to.

Printing of money helped the economy in making up for loss of revenue during Covid-19 but it has raised inflation and devalued the currency..Even if you raise production and export and bring in more foreign exchange, it can still translate to inflationary practices...demand and increase dollarization of the economy...case in point Ghana.

This is why I am often not overly critical of government and governance...there are so so so many moving pieces. IPPIS has eliminated so many ghost workers but those double salaries that used to flow that stopped also contributed to contraction of the economy

Border closure has stimulated the agricultural sector and made it productive for locals and reduced weapons into the economy but the loss of supply and increased demand has also raised the cost of food. If you increase hospitals, you will need more doctors and more salaries and retirement funding...Better public schools will lead to job loss in private schools and increase spending on Govt...without private schools, who will pay the taxes to pay public school teachers and their increased demand due to their unions.

I believe Govt agencies and politicians should do studies and release the pros and cons of things they want to do...then allow inputs before doing so...they won't win but at least the populace will understand why some decisions were made
.
