Pathaan....7/10

The entire movie could as well be a compilation of action scenes since they crammed as many creative action sequences as possible

Oyaskii, what do you think of this??

Streaming ONLY corporations are slowly pivoting towards traditional studio leanings.
This is somehow echoing the fact that streaming business is an expensive endeavour and you might not be profitable for years for upstarts.
I like how Amazon and Apple are pivoting towards this model. Only Netflix seems to be adamant and committed to the binge model (well it's been working for them).

I see Sony and A24 benefiting from this.
if it ain't broken don't fix it, release film for theater after that put am for streaming site simple and short.

Going totally on just streaming only was dumb idea

DC studios obviously don't know what to do with their universe, upon the fact that they have more diverse superheroes than marvel ,yet they keep making crap.

quite unfortunate Amazon only got rights to produce a Batman animated series, cause Amazon invest heavily in their superhero shows (e.g invincible, the boys).

Just sell it to Amazon totally

DC characters are too overpowered aside from Batman

And DC haven't done enough to establish their characters imo

There's a reason why Batman sells the most for them. Because the character is good.

This reboot might be good for DC, so they can establish all their characters from scratch. With a young inexperienced Superman, we can get to know his character from childhood while learning to control his powers...
It could help the audience care more for the character

There is also the fact of Superhero fatigue setting in...but not in the way people think...
The audience is just more selective of Superhero movies and need a good reason to watch them

The Streaming business whilst been profitable has a whole set of problems that depletes profits. A blockbuster could get a "VOD" only release but like 100 people will see it with just one account via password sharing and believe it or not even "password hacking". Netflix tried to clamp down on it last year i think and they were met with fierce rebuttal.

So this move by Apple is a way to even the playing field a little. Pump money on prod for big titles, have a theatre only run for some time, make some money, release it on VOD and make more money. It's the only economically feasible way for streaming companies to compete with conventional production houses. Heck, i think the plan has been in motion for some time, cuz movies are now having shorter gaps between theatre releases and VOD, i mean, I don't think "Creed" III is barely in the cinemas for up to a month and is already available to stream as early as next week.

The COVID-19 lockdown saw a surge in streaming and Cinema entity has not fully regained thier balance since then, so i think these model suites all parties involve.

Funny enough, Netflix have been striking these kind of deals in recent years albeit in a small scale and low budget movies, the movie has a limited theatre run, then releases exclusively on thier platform to stream.
Yea, I agree with you.
Netflix was actually the first to experiment with this model but after their acquisition and handling of Knives Out, it seems they're still leaning on their subscribers. Knives Out sequel debuted in way less theatres for a limited release than previous films of its stature.

Anyways, its proven movies released theatrical performs better in streaming than films dumped straight to VOD.

When the Kimba vs. Simba controversy is brought up, there are two things I notice right away:

1. Most people have seen The Lion King but have not seen Kimba the White Lion (KtWL).

2. Most people think KtWL is a theatrical length movie.

So to address point 1.
Why would you even defend something that you've not personally watched?
I know that in controversial topics like this, it is easy to assume that people who are making the claim that Simba ripped off Kimba have already done their homework and as such must know what they are talking about. But, has it occurred to you that they may be ignorant or biased and as such, may not be telling you the whole truth.
A rule good rule for life is to not have strong opinions about any information you've not personally verified for yourself.

For the second point:
A lot of people think that KtWL is a 90ish minute movie, so when they see the comparisons like the one GloriousGbola Posted, it's easy to see why they'll  say that Simba copied KtWL.
But kimba is in reality made of up a Manga, TV series and lot of movies which when totaled is more than 2000 minutes in lenght.  Just keep that in mind.

This type of argument is like saying vampires exist in The Vampire Diaries and vampires also exist in Twilight, therefore, The Vampire Diaries copied Twilight.

In the same vein, when you're telling your story with animals in Africa, there will be similarities in shots and characters because the settings are similar. It isn't uncommon for common tropes to be seen in similar media.
So the fact that Lion King has a baboon and a parrot isn't really a smoking gun.

Moreover, the team that made the Lion King has always been open about where they got inspiration for the story.
According to them, they wanted to make a tale of Hamlet set in the jungle, but people like to cling to superficialities andclaim they KtWL was the real inspiration which is not true.

Now, let me bust your mind, the pictures that GloriousGbola posted are from the 1996 movie that was released 4 years after The Lion King was released on 1994.
It's likely that these shots exist because the Kimba team saw the controversy surrounding the movie also decided to cash in on it.
It's also good to keep in mind that Osamu Tezuka (the creator of KtWL)  died before the Lion King was so we don't know what he thinks about this.
However, his son has come out to say that the Lion King did not copy KtWL
They copied.

Don't bury the fact in grammar.

Lol, who told you DC don't know what to do with its universe. That most likely applies to previous regimes.

Anyways, there's light at the end of the tunnel and I see DC getting their shït together real soon. The first step to that goal is DC Studios being established and given independence from WB Pictures.
Now, the DC co-CEOs (Safran and Gunn) can make decisions for DC from an executive, business and talent side of things. James Gunn is a through and through comics guy. So he's in a place where he knows the Variety of characters DC got and how to exploit that Goldmine. We've already seen glimpses of what he can do with these characters with what he did with Peacemaker and TSS. Peacemaker especially holds a special place in my heart with how he made weird @ss unknown characters shine through and bacame a success.
He'd definitely replicate that in the general universe as he also knows Big characters fans have been waiting for years to get.

Some people here knows how I'm a big advocator for variety in superhero genre and that's why I believe James Gunn is one of the few mehn that is qualified for the job and right this ship.

Lol, you think WB is dumb enough to sell DC off. It's their goldmine. WB sold "Batman: Caped Crusader" to Amazon because HBO passed it off. They didn't wanna invest in it and are looking at other future DC projects.

Don't worry, DC has started being serious in investing in great quality Superhero shows. Peacemaker started it. Next year we're getting Penguin series from HBO. So yeah, things will get interesting for DC moving forward.

they chose not to admit it doesn't mean shiit

"We watched it as kids but didn't copy it"

Maybe I should come and make my own Nigerian cartoon about a cat and a mouse...
It doesn't matter that I watched it as a kid...it's an original idea grin

"I didn't know of it" (but I worked in animation in Japan at the same period when the work was well known) 🤡

So if I copy a work, and say "no I didn't copy it"
My son too comes out to say "my father didn't copy it"

I definitely didn't copy it
