Meet Emma Bishop (Ikenga Ichi)

Unveiling Emma Bishop Okonkwo, The Billionaire Who Didn’t Allow The Loss Of His Leg To Deter Him

Some grass to grace stories are just superb and terrific materials for legends – and a very good example is that of Emmanuel Bishop Okonkwo, one of Nigeria’s richest men and billionaires.
Born ‘without any blemish’, unconfirmed sources told Igbo History And Culture TV that Emma Bishop, like he is widely known and addressed, lost one of his legs to accident. But rather than allow himself to be deterred by that, the Chairman of Ekulo Group of Companies, with hundreds of people in his employment, now jokes about that. So much so that during a visit by some of his kinsmen years ago to seek his financial assistance, he allegedly took off his artificial leg, joking that instead of two-legged men to assist a one-legged man, the reverse was the case. Thus, infecting and infesting the whole atmosphere with so much laughter.

A self-made man, Odenigbo Amichi (one of his numerous titles) could be likened to the proverbial King Midas; anything he touches automatically turns to gold.

Incorporating his company, Ekulo International Limited, with head office then on 30, Isale Agbede Street, Lagos, on July 3, 1984, the business has today metamorphosed into an oak tree. Initially into trading, they have since diversified into manufacturing and et al.
Now a group of companies, with Ekulo International Limited, Prize Destructioners Nigeria Limited, Ekulo Industries Limited, Evans Industries Limited and Ekulo Pharmaceuticals Limited as subsidiaries, the man is worth billions.

The franchise owners/manufacturers of popular brands like Eva Wine, Goya Oil, Adonko Bitters, Mayonnaise, Sardine, Eva Soap, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Baron de Valls Wine, Don Simon Drink, Meditol Soap, to mention but a few, their headquarters have since shifted to highbrow Victoria Island. With factories and branches scattered here and there.
Decorated as an Officer of the Order of the Federal Republic by ex-President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan in 2011, he started out in Onitsha, Anambra State, before berthing years later in Lagos, Nigeria’s then capital, where fame and fortune located him almost immediately.

Born on December 31, 1960, his late father was a shoe dealer, which obviously must have been where and how he fell in love with business. A native of Ichi, near Nnewi, Anambra State, his education couldn’t advance beyond Okongwu Memorial Grammar School, Nnewi. But via interminable reading and travelling, the man has so expanded his horizon and outlook that except you are told you will classify him among the graduates.

Married to Ngozi, a.k.a Mmili Aku, and blessed with wonderful children, his father’s plan was to hand him over his shoe business. Which he declined and resisted, choosing instead to pursue his own vision and dream. A move that ultimately paid off, and very handsomely too.

A proud member of the Knights of Saint Christopher, the white-loving businessman who also holds the title of Okpuluisizuluora of ichi is heavily into philanthropy.

One of his Rolls Royce carries the customised number plate: Okpuluisi, which literally means the one who does for all.

Highlife music kings, Oliver de Coque and Osita Osadebe, also documented same as well as his many businesses in their various albums before they bowed out. Thus, making him a household name, especially East of the Niger.

Hillview was started during Obi's tenure, the work on the estate slow during Obiano's first tenure later picked towards the end of his tenure, they are seriously working on the estate now, no doubt Obiano's attracted many investors in real estate in Anambra Efub estate, Dubai estate, AMC and host of others.

Anambra international airport is the best with the international facilities in igboland. Anambra international airport is the international gateway to the Eastern Nigeria, that's why the federal government has given it access to the broad band Internet gateway.

Unlike imo motorpark airport that's not different from a motorway somewhere. Even. GUO motorpark at Upper Iweka is more beautiful than imo motorpark airport. Imo is yet to have an airport anyways.

I believe soludo has been on the right path. His attention to roads across the state is really good. However, there are things that must be said. His attention to waste management is zero. I recently saw a video of ochanja market when rain was falling. The whole place was so dirty and flooded. The same is replicable across other markets in Nnewi and Onitsha. There is need to do more on waste management.
Also, the touts that obiano introduced, of which soludo promised during his first year in office to remove, are still operating unhinged. Many people are already relocating their businesses due to the large cost of operation and high taxes demanded by these touts.
Also recently, there was fire outbreak in main market and drugs market at head bridge, yet there were no fire service anywhere to stop the fire. Fore trucks had to come all the way from Asaba and Enugu to put out the fire. If you doubt, check the internet.

At least, for the first two I mentioned, soludo needs no large investment to tackle these issues. What is needed is a strong attitude and determination. Touts should have no place in Anambra. Engage the army in clearing and arresting these touts.
For the waste management, engage these market leaders around the states and ensure that at least every week, these refuse are cleared, and if anyone falters, sanctions should be placed. Waste trucks can also be bought from innoson to complement the previous ones

Bitter frustrated imo man, you should be worried about the imo motorpark airport than worry about the worldclass Anambra international airport.

Go to imo thread and ask, why is imo airport still looking like a motorpark at Ojota and where is the Owerri international conference centre that you imo miscreants hyped here.

You deserve all the abuse coming your way! It’s obvious you’re looking to try and derail this thread! Just how did you manage to bring IPOB or ESN into this!? Did the person who responded to you tell you he’s a member of any of the organisations you mentioned!? Why is IPOB and ESN on your mind 24/7, and how are they ‘terrorists’!?

Today, I flagged off the “Clean, Green and Sustainable Anambra” initiative at Ochanja, a suburb of Onitsha. Desilting works have commenced with prompt evacuation of debris. The next will be to give the roads around the area a deserving facelift. We are reinvigorating our effort towards a clean and healthy environment, and our commitment to the resuscitation of Onitsha is total.

The picture inset, somehow, captures the essence of our whole urban renewal strategy. While we hold the microphone on one hand which symbolizes orientation and reorientation of our people for basic attitudinal change towards matters of the environment, we would hold the shovel on the other hand, symbolizing action towards walking our talk.

I charge us to take matters of our environment seriously, as the task of preserving the environment is a collective one.

Anambra will continue to win!
