Obi picked Datti to not just because he was competent but also to balance the ticket with the representation of a Northern Muslim on the ticket.
Basically he found a northern Muslim who was competent enough for him to sell to Nigerians.

If Tinubu had chosen a Northern Christian he would definitely have lost the election, so is it that Obidients were hoping that Tinubu would be naive and give them an easier path to victory? As it panned out sef a Christian running mate for Tinubu would have led to an Atiku victory not an Obi victory, so i don't understand all this lamentation.

Tinubu having to choose a Northern Muslim is actually more of an indictment of the North than it is an indictment on Tinubu. He only made the decision after consulting his map and calculator. Every politician should study geography and mathematics.
