You will be forgiven when you get on ground and face the realities! If you read his post very well, the issue is not because immigrants are anti-immigrants but when immigrants and all other members of the society see the challenges they face in “accessing” basic things, they wonder on the need for more. It is a natural instinct to survive.

If you get on a rescue boat, and the captain continues to allow more people, you may want to ask at what point he will stop allowing more people because you are dealing with finite resources
I'm here and I don't know the realities you're talking about.

If Canada is a rescue boat that's sinking, what's Nigeria? Maybe the person might as well jump out to create space for people.

If you like leave conservative and vote NDP, they'll all keep bringing people grin because of some reasons.

Those people are simply ignorant, without more immigrants the country will collapse. Their opinion doesn’t matter in reality as IRCC will keep increasing the numbers. Same way some citizens will say they are coming to take our jobs. Same job you don’t apply for Any job that has small stress they are quick to scream mental health bla bla bla. Don't let anyone discourage you o.

There are realities you are choosing to ignore, the original discussion mentioned housing which is a fundamental human need. A house that costs $300000 in the US will cost $800000 in Canada if you compare the environment, access to health care and its associated cost, and low minimum wage compared to the standard of living. No one is here to discourage others but to help people keep an open mind about what to expect.

No be quarrel, we are only arguing and it is for learning purposes. You don’t know where I fall in this bracket so don’t assume am a protagonist. I earn 6 figures and I believe it can be better. I speak about what I hear people complain about everyday, Citizens, residents and new comers alike. Check the time it takes to get a US Visa appointment and it will tell you the real story. Unlike your initial quote, UAE does have a high influx of immigrants but no pathway to residency and that is why most have chosen Canada. If US implements similar pathway, the numbers will be different.

Same preparation as someone doing the paper based test. Only difference is you'll be using a computer to answer the questions.
IELTS has some practice tests to help you get familiar with the User Interface for the test.
All the best.

Good day house, Please I have a question regarding job title not tallying with job duties.

My job title is a Snr statistician with a masters degree, however from the job duties, it cut across data scientist and statistical officer ( with this having more duties) on the NOC website. But statistical officers are tier 2 and require just a secondary school certificate, while data scientists which I have about 3-4 job duties is tier 1 and is for graduates. Please what do you advise I pick, seeing that my job duty is mainly statistical officer, as I perform all the duties listed in this NOC compared to a data scientist which I perform 4 duties out of all the list duties.

Please house, kindly advise

Well I worked in Nigeria in an organization people will describe as a great place to work and gain valuable experience in tech. It was still rife with unprofessionalism, eye service, nepotism and injustice. 90% of software engineers who joined the organization between 2017 and 2021 moved to tech jobs in europe, usa, canada and east africa. Nigerians can be predatory and greedy thus I do not blame people who leave Nigeria to pursue a careers elsewhere. Banks in Nigeria also lost a good number of tech workers.

Good morning, for proof of funds, would it be sufficient if I present FD showing the required amount + statement showing extra monies?

Do still need to provide a bank letter? Any advice would be appreciated

Hi Everyone,

I need some clarifications on filling the work experience aspect of the express entry form.

I currently have almost 4 years of experience working in traditional 9-5 companies in my NOC group. I however quit sometime last year and started taking project based work since then because of the better compensation (still within the same NOC). The issue with the project based jobs is that I cannot get a letter of reference for these projects as most were short term and even some were informal. The only letters of reference I can get are for the 4 years I worked in a proper 9-5 role.

My question is this: Can I fill just the 4 years standard 9-5 experience in my express entry application and leave out the other project based work experience or must I fill those roles too?

Will the significant gap of almost a year be an issue given it's been almost a year since I left traditional 9-5?

This one is nonsense, forgive me sha but if you as an immigrant is anti immigration, you should be the first person to leave! No two-way around it

Why are our current youths or people online so absolutionist? It is either your way or the other party aren't thinking correctly. He gave valid reasons for an immigrant to turn against immigration. The world is not black and white. There are grey areas and if you cannot argue based on facts or counter it then it's best to not talk or do well to understand perspectives.

I would 100% support a reduction of immigration by starting especially with those schools awarding mushroom degrees and diplomas in the thousands to kids as a pathway to getting PR. It is just a slave labour mill without any guarantees of a good life for the multitude of these students if current levels is sustained.

I don't even need to talk about housing. If your minimum wage workers can't afford to even rent a 1 bedroom apartment in most cities and have to share bedrooms and squat to the point people are converting sitting rooms and splitting them into bedrooms without proper ventilation for humans to live in then the government needs to either pay more attention to such basic needs or reduce the immigration levels till housing and other basic needs cam catch up.

For the multitude of Nigerians who troop in, not to dampen your spirits but to take advantage of the West you need to seriously upskill and adapt to current employment trends and fields. I am afraid that the vast numbers of people immigrating might have to continuously do two, three or more jobs to even sustain any semblance of good living. If that's an okay life for you. So be it.

And for those stating people should move to other cities. It used to be Ontario that was expensive. Now Calgary is getting expensive and out of reach. What happens when Calgary reaches the limit , move to Edmonton and clog that also and make it unlivable? Rinse , repeat till you have priced people out of basic living in all cities.

Also living in the suburbs doesn't even guarantee you good living. You still have to contend with low jobs or low wages, long commute hours. Ordinary Hamilton to Toronto you spend close to 1hour , 30mins to transit and if you say move to Cambridge or somewhere else. How many jobs are there in Cambridge or St Catherine or Thunder Bay or Windsor? How do you commute from Cambridge to Toronto in a sensible time frame? Public transit to move people out of the city is abysmally poor or crazily expensive to the point it is not even worth it to move out as you would be spending almost the same amount you should be using to rent and commute 20minutes to pay for a train ride.

And if you want to come for me , please note i am well above all the circumstances because i LUCKILY fall into a tech field that works remotely and gets above average pay but what about the millions and thousands without same opportunities and skillset? We need to be realistic and stop making it seem like a do or die affair. People get here and are shocked by the reality of things. Lol more reasons you have all those unsavory Youtube videos and stuff. I wouldn't stop people from coming but definitely Government has to do more.

A lot of citizens are becoming agitated and starting to blame immigrants for their woes and this would be widespread soon. However incorrect and myopic that is is not their fault. People would always target the low hanging fruits first. So before we get to those levels maybe Government has to do something drastic and I would not even blame an immigrant for voting a candidate that vows to reduce immigration levels. It is the reality.

I’m not sure why Nigerians like to behave this way. All these factors you’ve raised are the norm in mega cities or cities that have a diverse populace due to immigration. It’s not the first time and it will definitely not be the last time (especially with increase of digital nomads) that influx of immigrants would drive cost of rent up and cause people (lower income earners) to have to adjust to sub standard forms of accommodation. It’s part of the growing pains of any country leveraging population for economic growth. Look at some of the biggest cities/countries today and they all face/faced these same issues at some point.

Not saying the concerns are thus invalid. But let’s not act like these weren’t taken into consideration when Canada decided to open their borders and set targets for immigration. Besides the borders aren’t going to be open forever/infinitely. This idea of “now that I’ve benefitted, the others can go to hell” is so rampant in Nigeria especially. You see it even in workplaces. We need to stop. Pretty sure the Asians don’t think this way and they’re also some of the worlds biggest migrants.

If Nigerians in Canada and other beneficiaries of the various PR pathways are this pressed about it, they should return to their fatherlands where housing isn’t an issue then, and bank manager jobs abound. Jokers.

In Lagos, we’re facing some of the biggest housing issues for similar reasons; “Migration in hope of better”. Let’s not act more aggrieved/self-righteous than the real owners of the land.

When someone challenges or dares to share a different opinion, you raise your shoulders to immediately forewarn the person that you can’t be talked to because “you’re part of the privileged in Canada who earn better” and so your claims are out of care for the less privileged and most affected (a.k.a other Canadian PR holders and the opposition themselves). Who gives a damn for all this self-righteousness?

Nothing irritates me more than an immigrant that thinks another immigrant is their problem. Especially after watching the UK fall apart due to immigrants chasing other immigrants away; it’s crass & extremely dim witted. But of course, I shouldn’t expect more from people who’ve moved from underdeveloped countries with a backward mindset that blames others, rather than the govt, for their woes- look at Nigeria and the last elections.

You say there’s no housing and it’s the immigrants fault? Why did Canada wait until this year to restrict house purchase to people with PR? The govt was too stupid to preempt that investors would buy up those properties right? But it’s an immigrants fault.

Canada is doing EE with other pathways but making it difficult for immigrant doctors and nurses to practice. Why can’t they adopt UKs model that use exams and trainings to upskill immigrant health practitioners? but hey it’s the immigrants fault.

Canada attracted professionals from various fields and forgot to attract builders or property developer, cos how are they expecting a bricklayer to score 490 (meaning having either two languages + a masters/PhD and having over £8k in finance) or expecting a rich property developer to leave Europe and move to Canada? Lmao! No it’s the immigrants fault.

You’re complaining about moving from city to city due to rising cost of living? Isn’t that urbanisation/urban expansion that countries desire? Should have paid attention in social studies class but it’s the immigrants fault.

You’re saying it’s difficult to travel to work? Can’t an encouraging tax breaks for companies that promote remote/hybrid working in industries that can (eg tech) solve this? No, it’s the immigrants fault.

All the taxes being paid by professionals in Canada, what’s the govt using it for? It’s the immigrants fault.

Also You’re being condescending to the people that go to “mushroom” unis to get PR, forgetting that your reality is different from theirs. They were probably street hawkers in Lagos that can now become customer service assistants- to them they’re living their dreams. While this doesn’t sit well with you, again, it’s THEIR reality/suffering/happiness/achievement.

Finally, you ask us to understand anti-immigrant perspectives? If I call your father a baboon (which is likely untrue), would you ask people to understand my perspective or would you be “absolutionist” and call me out immediately? After all, what’s wrong is wrong?

The UK chased their immigrants away, now they’re begging their retired citizens to come back to work cos there’s no more money to pay them. Like, the island is drowning in shit- literally. I’m just glad they’re no more immigrants to blame. They’ve finally realised the government was to blame all the while.

I can never understand how someone will benefit from something, then be clamoring for the door to be shut on other people who want the same thing. If it’s not witchcraft or wizardry, I don’t know what it is.
