Nothing irritates me more than an immigrant that thinks another immigrant is their problem. Especially after watching the UK fall apart due to immigrants chasing other immigrants away; it’s crass & extremely dim witted. But of course, I shouldn’t expect more from people who’ve moved from underdeveloped countries with a backward mindset that blames others, rather than the govt, for their woes- look at Nigeria and the last elections.

You say there’s no housing and it’s the immigrants fault? Why did Canada wait until this year to restrict house purchase to people with PR? The govt was too stupid to preempt that investors would buy up those properties right? But it’s an immigrants fault.

Canada is doing EE with other pathways but making it difficult for immigrant doctors and nurses to practice. Why can’t they adopt UKs model that use exams and trainings to upskill immigrant health practitioners? but hey it’s the immigrants fault.

Canada attracted professionals from various fields and forgot to attract builders or property developer, cos how are they expecting a bricklayer to score 490 (meaning having either two languages + a masters/PhD and having over £8k in finance) or expecting a rich property developer to leave Europe and move to Canada? Lmao! No it’s the immigrants fault.

You’re complaining about moving from city to city due to rising cost of living? Isn’t that urbanisation/urban expansion that countries desire? Should have paid attention in social studies class but it’s the immigrants fault.

You’re saying it’s difficult to travel to work? Can’t an encouraging tax breaks for companies that promote remote/hybrid working in industries that can (eg tech) solve this? No, it’s the immigrants fault.

All the taxes being paid by professionals in Canada, what’s the govt using it for? It’s the immigrants fault.

Also You’re being condescending to the people that go to “mushroom” unis to get PR, forgetting that your reality is different from theirs. They were probably street hawkers in Lagos that can now become customer service assistants- to them they’re living their dreams. While this doesn’t sit well with you, again, it’s THEIR reality/suffering/happiness/achievement.

Finally, you ask us to understand anti-immigrant perspectives? If I call your father a baboon (which is likely untrue), would you ask people to understand my perspective or would you be “absolutionist” and call me out immediately? After all, what’s wrong is wrong?

The UK chased their immigrants away, now they’re begging their retired citizens to come back to work cos there’s no more money to pay them. Like, the island is drowning in shit- literally. I’m just glad they’re no more immigrants to blame. They’ve finally realised the government was to blame all the while.

Why is comprehension such a difficult thing in the world?

Are you guys reading to respond or reading to understand? Go through my post and point out one single point i blamed Immigrants. If anything I was advocating for immigrants. Stating the fact that citizens are turning the blame on immigration as the cause of their current woes doesn't mean that's my point. And maybe you reread the phrase "low hanging fruits" and understand the connotation in the context of the discuss. Also the quoted guy on here gave valid reasons for why some of his acquaintances who are immigrants now are likely anti immigration. You can't gaslight them to have a different opinion. You can only argue your way against their stance. You guys should quit picketing people for their opinions without giving valid assertions against such.

Asking Government to close schools that are offering mushroom diplomas and certificates that have no bearing and impact asides the cash grab by a few people who have set these places up to extort international students is in the interest of the students. It is almost equivalent to UK bringing in students without a credible pathway to Permanent residency. Of what use is a mushroom diploma you pay tens of thousands for in Canada when the best you get to do after finishing it is driving Ubers or working in Tim Hortons. A lot of them have to go back and re enroll, why would I wish a fellow Nigerian this fate of paying through the nose twice when government could actually help in stemming this from the get go?

No immigrant can gate keep and stop people from traveling, heck i would even advise people to move to get more benefits out of their skillset if they believe there is more out there. It is natural that people would move to areas where there is more prosperity. Globalisation has just made it more pronounced because wealth is largely concentrated in these western countries the most so it is natural they are the preferred destination. Also your point about urbanisation is mute and defective. Japan, tokyo has one of the most dense population of the world yet they do not have an housing crisis on their hands.

The concept of working to death or grinding continously to pay rent or afford basic groceries doesn't make sense to me . Maybe it makes sense to you but we have a collective effort to fight the government wherever you are to do better to fix these things and make life much more easier for almost everyone.

Go sample most major forums. Almost all Canadians are complaining of a bleak future and they are rightfully calling their government out on immigration without considering infrastructure or basic amenities. Money laundering in the housing sector by International people buying up houses due to the loopholes the government is not willing to close thus exercebating the current housing crisis. Monopolies by a few wealthy people and concentration of wealth in the hands of a few people. Rogers or so was just proposing to buy Shaw which would inherently lead to increasing monopoly and this seems to be the trend in almost all facets of businesses.Galen or whatever his name is owns Sobeys, owns loblaws, owns Fresco etc.

For the healthcare issues. A country has its policies. Every single environment is protectionist. Do i support them not allowing foreign doctors not to practice? No. Are foreign doctors in Canada who now have to drive Uber to make ends meet right to be anti immigration? Hell yeah. That's their personal opinions and except i have superior facts to counter such, then fine and okay. We push till we have a semblance of peace.

Go to twitter, go to

https://www.reddit.com/r/personalfinancecanada/

There's an upward tick in dissatisfaction amongst citizens and it is tied to increased cost of living and general bleak future for a lot of citizens of which immigration is a prominent scape goat for their concerns. Are these post also made by Nigerians on such forums?

My last response on this. Take care

So much sagacity well encapsulated in a single post. Thank you for this. Many Nigerians are hypocrites and selfish. Even among families, these traits are very much existent.

I can never understand how someone will benefit from something, then be clamoring for the door to be shut on other people who want the same thing. If it’s not witchcraft or wizardry, I don’t know what it is.
it's actually witchcraft, let's call it what it is please. Selfishness = Witchcraft. Self centeredness = witchcraft. Narcissism = Witchcraft.
I am telling you that I know siblings that have migrated but will do everything to jeopardize the chances of their qualified sibling(s) from coming to witness the "suffering" in Canada. May God help us.

I totally understand the points @icegig and other nairalanders have raised. One need only peruse Reddit and some other Canadian forum to see how (some) Canadians themselves have begun to feel about the country's matters.

I am not in Canada but I can boldly say to anyone wishing for their brothers, sisters and other family members to emigrate, that in order for THEM to enjoy or live the reality YOU'RE living now a certain STANDARD of living has to be maintained. Whether you're an international student, a PR or a citizen, it cuts across board.

BUT this is the government's job and maintaining it starts with having critical, sometimes painful but necessary discourses.
If it means the government reduce immigration numbers for a few years, lower admission rates to DIPLOMA mills, restrict or encourage some professions, reduce or increase certain fees etc to maintain THAT STANDARD then so be it. Canada must do what is best for Canada. It's not emotional or about just YOUR family or just NIGERIANS or being a WITCH etc...lol

Let Canada remain the Canada of our dreams and hopes. It's way too easy for a country's way of life and relative prosperity to begin to deteriorate. We think it could never happen, but never say never in this world. Besides, it's NOT always the immigrant's fault but who usually becomes the proverbial scapegoat when countries start to experience hardships, lifestyle and quality of life deterioration ? The freaking IMMIGRANTS.

That said, this thread is probably not the place for such discourse. People seeking to immigrate will definitely develop unconscious bias against such topics. Let's be honest with ourselves. We as hopefuls may also not be in the best position to argue about this but hopefully we can get to a point that critical and safe arguments can be had without resorting to emotions and feelings.

All that essay written, if you're an immigrant (emigrant) and it "peppers your body" to see other Nigerians or Africans pass you by on Canada's streets because of your internalised hatred for your own people, then YEAH something is definitely wrong with YOU. cheesy

i helped you ask chatgpt for the noc of a pos agent and it came uo with this:

In Canada, the National Occupational Classification (NOC) code for a Point of Sale (POS) Agent may vary depending on the specific job duties and requirements of the position. However, a possible NOC code for a POS Agent in Canada could be 6623 - Other sales related occupations, which includes various sales and service representatives who provide information, assistance, and sell products or services to customers in retail and wholesale establishments.

It is important to note that the NOC code may vary depending on the specific industry, company, and job responsibilities of the POS Agent. It is recommended to consult with the employer or a qualified immigration consultant for a more accurate NOC code for a specific position.
i however do not think this noc falls under the acceptable ones...please make further research

Please post PPR gang where did you take your passport photo for eAPR? I'm thinking of using Studio24.

How many copies did you request?

And did you scan the front and stamped back for the eAPR application or used the soft copy?

Someone with experience should please assist.

Good day house, Please I have a question regarding job title not tallying with job duties.

My job title is a Snr statistician with a masters degree, however from the job duties, it cut across data scientist and statistical officer ( with this having more duties) on the NOC website. But statistical officers are tier 2 and require just a secondary school certificate, while data scientists which I have about 3-4 job duties is tier 1 and is for graduates. Please what do you advise I pick, seeing that my job duty is mainly statistical officer, as I perform all the duties listed in this NOC compared to a data scientist which I perform 4 duties out of all the list duties.

Please house, kindly advise

Definitely go with the NOC that matches all your duties .......provided it is TEER 0 1 2 or 3. IRCC are not matching job titles to your job title nor are they interested in whether you meet the employment requirements of your chosen NOC.

See page 1 please.

Hi Everyone,

I need some clarifications on filling the work experience aspect of the express entry form.

I currently have almost 4 years of experience working in traditional 9-5 companies in my NOC group. I however quit sometime last year and started taking project based work since then because of the better compensation (still within the same NOC). The issue with the project based jobs is that I cannot get a letter of reference for these projects as most were short term and even some were informal. The only letters of reference I can get are for the 4 years I worked in a proper 9-5 role.

My question is this: Can I fill just the 4 years standard 9-5 experience in my express entry application and leave out the other project based work experience or must I fill those roles too?

Will the significant gap of almost a year be an issue given it's been almost a year since I left traditional 9-5?

To get max CRS you only need 3 years work experience so you can use the trad 9-5 that you did for 4 years. You can include your other work experience in personal history after ITA. Before ITA you can leave it out of your profile completely or include it and then move to personal history after ITA.

The gap is irrelevant so long as you account for your last 10 years in personal history (which is separate from work history).

Hello everyone,

For work experience, I have:

1. Feb 2015 to June 2015: (no offer letter and was paid in cash, the organization still exists)- will a salary certificate alone from my ex-employer suffice? Or do I still need to include a reference letter?

2. July 2015 to May 2016: (no offer letter but I have email correspondence to confirm my date of appointment and remuneration, I was paid with cash and cheque sometimes and the organization has now folded up)- will a salary certificate alone from ex-employer suffice? Or do I still need to include a reference letter?

3. June 2016 to October 2017: (I have an offer letter that shows my annual gross income. I have bank statements and old pay slips. The company has folder up. But the parent group organization that can write me a letter still exists. The parent group organization name was mentioned in my offer letter and this is my primary NOC)- will I need a reference letter? A salary certificate and/or old pays slips or bank statement showing monthly salary payment? will I also need to include my offer letter?

4. November 2017 to July 2018: (I have an offer letter, and the organization still exists) do I need a reference letter? Do I need to include my offer letter? Do I need to include a salary certificate or old payslip or bank statement showing monthly payment?

I don't want to include irrelevant documents and confuse the immigration officer(s). I also don't want to give room for questions especially because two of those organizations have folded up. If they google those organizations, they won't find them but thankfully I have some of the works I did uploaded on my LinkedIn page from those years.

Thank you so much for your help.

I appreciate.

To get max CRS you only need 3 years work experience so you can use the ones that you can most easily get a ref letter with duties matching your NOC. You can include your other work experience in personal history after ITA.

You definitely always need a ref letter. Providing pay slips, monthly salary payment, offer letter etc without a ref letter (that shows duties matching your chosen NOC), is a sure way to get a rejection IMO.

Pls study page 1.

Hi guys..
I received ita last week, an di have some questions.

For employment reference, i have an experience from april 2018 to feb 2020

But my employer changed name around June 2019. 2019. However when i was filling the work experience form in ircc, i just put the most recent name of the company as company name.

My offer letter was on the old name.(it had my duties and roles)
Some of my payslips were from the new name.

My reference letter from the company Has their new name and everything i need, but they didn't put my duties

What can i do in this instance? Do i write a letter to explain the company's name change?

I intend to attach every bit of documentation from this company.

The easiest thing is to just write Baba Sala Plc (formerly know as Uche & Sons Ltd). No need to include any change of name docs for the company especially if they have online presence. No issues with an LOE though, if it gives you peace of mind.

Reference letter WITHOUT duties no be reference letter as per IRCC EE FSW standard o.....offer letter with duties may likely not cut it.

Why? Because offer letter is about what they are hiring you to do....reference letter is a confirmation of that you have actually been performing those duties.

Hi again, I’m back with another question lol.
So I’m on work permit in Canada with a TRV that expires in 2025. However I had to travel to Nigeria for an emergency and I’m still going to be here till late April or early May. With the way PR applications are fast these days, if mine is approved before I leave for Canada, someone said I’ll need a PRTD to enter Canada again as my TRV will be useless and I need to apply for the PRTD. Note: I applied for PR outside Canada(2 weeks after I travelled to Nigeria to be specific). Please does anyone know anything about this?

See this link via page 1

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/express-entry/application-approved.html

AFAIK, the instructions in your PPR email may depend on the mailing/current address you provided to IRCC in your application.

If you indicated Nigeria, then that's where IRCC assumes you live. When PPR lands, if you are in NG you'll send your passport to IRCC via VFS for PR visa and COPR, you need these to land in Canada as a PR.

If you indicated Canada, then they'll assume you are inland and will probably send you an email with credentials to sign into the PR portal to do a virtual landing (not a physical one at a border). People are only supposed to use this if they are physically in Canada.

PRTD would not apply to you even if you got PPR today. It is a travel document/visa that allows PRs who have already landed physically or virtually but do not have their PR cards to re-enter Canada.

Hello everyone , please I have a little problem, I got my ita and am filling my application, have completed my application and wife’s own but for my kid, she doesn’t have s passport yet, and we have just 50days left. I tried making use of her birth certificate, it was requesting for expiring date how can I go about this cos I can’t proceed. Is there anyone who as had similar situation.

Personally I wouldn't submit a PR application without the child's passport.....even with an LOE...but that's just me. You could try getting it before deadline or risk explaining with LOE and attaching evidence you have applied.

Good afternoon house, I have a question, I have just taken a look at my document check list and I wasn't asked to upload proof of language proficiency. Is that normal?

Upload degree certificates, IELTS and ECA in education section.

Pls study the checklists on page 1 before you submit. Post 5 on page 1 is crucial reading post ITA.

I need help . I have the BCS certificate in IT and i got it evaluated by WES.

I received ITA and i am currently compiling all my documents to apply. However, i noticed i was asked to provide Police report in England and im guessing its tied to my BCS certification.

Can someone who has gotten PPR or has landed in Canada and completed this process (ie utiising the BCS certificate as a second cert) advise me on how this was handled.

Thanks in anticipation of a swift reply

Indicate distance learning in CAPs in bracket after BCS and location as Lagos. Also include an LOE to explain why a PCC is not required.

Good evening all,

Please, it was written at the top of my wife's ECA (from WES) that "The names on one or more of the academic credentials submitted for evaluation differ from the name indicated above".

I just want to be double-sure, and I have 2 questions:

(i) I Hope that the "mismatch" in the surnames does not matter for a married woman. Since she has done change of name due to marriage (surname).

(ii) She used a middle name (A) in her ATA and ICAN certificates and used a different middle name (B) in her B.Sc. certificate. The middle name in her B.Sc. is preferred and the same in all other documents (including her passport). She has already done a change of name (the middle name); an affidavit and newspaper publication to that effect has been done and ICAN has been notified and accepted, but new certificate/credentials can not be issued. Will this constitute a problem at any point? Since she needs the ATA to claim two or more certificates.

Thank you for your time and response to this

Hello house,

Congrats to all who got ITA.

Can I modify the information on my EE profile to something different in my post Ita application?

My score is still the same, however, I modified some information under my work history.

Will it affect my application? Will thr VO compare the EE profile alongside the Post Ita application?

You can modify. It will not affect anything so long as your CRS is still above the draw CRS and your eligibility is at or above 67. IRCC encourages us to edit sef to make your app as accurate and reflective of your current situation. See page 1 FAQ 26 and 27

Congratulations to the ITA clinchers 🙏🏽
Please I have an issue bothering me about my application.
I have been a self employed jeweller for more than 2 years now and my clients pay me in cash and also In my personal account. I just opened a corporate account for my business this year.
I don’t know if I should present both accounts in my application because I’ve had at most 4 clients pay into the corporate account this year.
Thank you.

I would say you can use your personal account and explain in a LOE. Hope you've read the posts of others who were self employed and what docs they provided and what IRCC expects from self employed folks. Page 1 FAQ 2 and Page 1 post 3.

You can also use other jobs within the last 10 years if this doesn't work out.
