You people started attacking him because he criticize your movement. Started comparing him to Achebe and all .

Your movement is too toxic. They attack anyone that don't align with them.

They insulted Adeboye for no reason. We know all those things.
Rest.if they come for you now,you will be in your feelings again and ask people not to quote you.

Ib.ime, amoto and others who started the comparisons and preference are obidients too?

That tweet by her was unnecessary.

Those tribal shots by GRV in the past haunted him, wife now poured petrol into the fire to totally consume the little hope remaining of his husband's dream in Lagos.

Chimanmada Adichie is another writer I hope can win the Nobel prize in the near future for her works. But she needs to do much more better.
Might be wrong, but I don't think Chimamanda's writings are the sort of writings the Nobel Prize in Literature committee would be looking to award the Nobel Prize for, they're mostly good old storybooks, not technical pieces...and as per her writing some I like, and some I'm lukewarm to.

Franch speaking Canadians are extremely snobbish

If you meet them in another country and ask them directions or question in English, they will pretend they can't speak English. I have personal experience of this. I was shocked when I saw the same person later speaking English . That's when someone explained to me that Quebecans will never acknowledge English
I even heard you have to understand and speak French well as a lawmaker in Quebec. (I’m not entirely sure of the veracity of the claim).

Yea, I think that was the first book that showed me what Apartheid South Africa was like...can't remember most of what happened, but I know it was a book I enjoyed back then. Another book that I felt told a good story of Apartheid South Africa was Sizwe Bansi is Dead, I probably read the book like 50 times, mostly because it was a small play.

Here's another example I read about last week:

Amsterdam tells English men between the ages of 18 and 35 to stay away from their city as they are uncouth nuisances.

Blunt. They are complaining the English don't respect their Netherland hosts.

This one shock me sha. 😂

Brits must have some reputation

The other writers are literary giants as well and are not known on the street. Achebe was a literary giant as well, who is not known on the street.

Only few people on the street can mention just the title of a novel written by Achebe, and even fewer people can mention the title of two of his works.

That doesn't take anything away from his works.

All these writers are popular in the academic circles, not on the street.

Street credibility isn't one of the requirements to win the Nobel Prize like WS did or win other awards like Achebe did.

You don't have to downplay Soyinka's achievements to praise Achebe's.

The fact is a nobel laureate is among the best of the best and will be more celebrated than his peers that were also geniuses but didn't win the most prestigious award in literature.
I'm sure you think by street you mean people that the only time they ever read novels was when they had to read it to pass exams grin...that's not what I meant sha, I mean among people that generally read prose, plays and other types of books...Chinua Achebe ran the streets ragged, among those class of persons, and deservedly so.

You can actually make the same argument for any well-known author in the academic (literary) circles. It's not peculiar to Achebe.

Achebe dey run street

Quotables and Parables from one of Achebe book alone is enough to read and just laugh for 2 hours.

So you thought because it was Wole Soyinka he'd criticize the movement and people won't come for him? He fvcked around and found out, it's what it is...Wole Soyinka is a big boy and he showed that he's shown that he's capable of defending himself since forever, no be attack from Obidients movement e go dey lose sleep over, he's faced worse and has done time and brandished weapons for ideas he believed in....nobody in the entire Obidient movement will ever have his street cred as per activism.

Some Obidients will attack anyone that comes from the movement, some won't and others will go overboard in their attacks, it's what it is...at least they haven't killed anybody in their attacks (we know people that their movements have lead and are still leading to maimings and killings), na wording, if you get mouth pass Obidients you sef go floor them.

You don't tell people how to react after insulting them. Stop sounding like he is getting dragged unprovoked.

""By the way, I do agree with Seun Kuti; ‘Obidients’ is one of the most repulsive, off-putting concoctions I ever encountered in any political arena - Prof. Wole Soyinka""
I watched the interview on Channels TV. The first one.

He said a bit of fascism is what we observed among the third force supporters.

Go online. You will observe the same thing too. Just say something that don't align with them, you will be dragged left, right and centre. My School WhatsApp group drag me because I don't believe in the Obi movement. I have to leave.

They were rightly criticize.

We do observe it here too on a daily basis.

Chimamanda will never top Half of a Yellow Sun

If Khaled Hosseini, Paolo Coelho and co never smell Nobel, who dash Chimamanda

Nobel Prize is just whatever narrative they pick. Bob Dylan of all people won it into 2016 for songwriting

That doesn't make it less prestigious, bros. More often than not, it's the best of the best that win a nobel prize in most fields.
