I think Man city squad depth can still scale through. Man u with inferior squad depth than Man city with such congestion were still winning matches too
I know they have what it takes to do it but its not easy to gain maximum points in a jam-packed month of fixtures.

All I see in this match is similar to sporting return leg at Emirates, Arteta will refuse to make needful substitution when pressure is mounting but immediately pressure burst pipe, he will make substitutions and the result might be too late...

Martinelli should be made to watch the match and see his Bleep up in the last minutes, even though I commend him for the goal and assist, his poor decision making is affecting the team.

Zichenko shouldn’t be stating against a team with a very sharp winger cause drifting to the midfield when you’re suppose to be marking Sallah is a disrespect and I trust Salah to maximize such opportunity

Ramsdale is the reason we could leave with a point due to his saves, all the boys tried and I commend them all for playing as such at Anfield..

Unto the Next✌️

My only Reason I feel he should have benched Zinny for Tierney was when the pressure was much cos no need for any buildup again.

But saying he shouldn't start na kolewerk. We all seem to forget how composed we were before their first goal
You and Kokane make fair points about Zinny playing to tactics, difference is he did not play to instructions which was the discipline aspect and that was why Arteta pulled him out. I thought our fullbacks were poor today. White was sticking too tight and getting beat and that was how the first goal happened, even though iamoyindamola makes a case against Saka, which is also a fair point.

If you go back to the 2nd goal, watch the sidelines and you will see Tierney was ready to come in before the goal happened and that was because Arteta had had enough of Zinny failing to be discipline. Zinny had no business being where Gabu or Partey should be when that first goal occurred.

Also, go back and rewatch the game if you can, you will see Gabu several times screaming at Zinny about being by himself. Arteta knew there was trouble and that was why he did not even bother about Xhaka because he knew where we were leaking from and tried to address it. Xhaka should have been helping that left side but he decided to be unfortunate today. This proves my thoughts that while he was playing to tactics, he wasn’t being disciplined today.

Our tactics was different from Liverpool defensively. Arteta was exceptional in the first with how he used Jesus/ Martinelli. The switch in play between both players confused Konate a lot who had a better 2nd half after he figured out what was going on. Arteta was using Jesus to drag Konate high which meant Martinelli had good space in front of Jesus or around the center.

I believe we'll beat Newcastle at their home as long as we don't have any more injury concerns.

Na just Man city at home be my issue. We just need draw there
Newcastle have an Anfield kinda home atmosphere o. But we can pull a surprise there of Arteta works on his foolishness and his defending structure. Arteta should realize it's not proper to always have possession and rather play to soak pressure at certain moments of the game. It helps frustrate opponents when the goals aren't coming. Plus we already are getting close to hacking the wengerball counter attack style. Almost.

I don't think so. The penalty he missed against Sporting didn't affect his next game. He should be fine.
Well, the times are different now. Much more crucial than that night. But i expect him to bounce back just fine.

This will be a true test. TBH I don lose hope. City has no injury worry and Haaland be like person wey just do goal subscription. We tried but losing the cup at this juncture is painful.
I hope others come thru for us as well. Glad Jesus is back cos of he wasn't, the fear for worse. I hope Teta does everything to make Gabriel focused on his CB job and stop doing anything to overburdened that warrior now that Saliba no dey. These things should not be hard now🥴

I accepted Zinny should be subbed especially since we're parking the bus. He had no business being on the pitch entering the 65min when the pressure was very high. At the instant, the pressure was very very much.

My point is this... What made the pressure to be much.?
What made only Martinelli and GJ to be up top only them?
Have we ever been on that situation this season in any ground for most part of the minutes?

Once we answer that questions, we'll know the reason why a whole arsenal this season have to send only Jesus and Martinelli to be playing up top all by themselves and why a whole Partey and Xhaka was playing CBs
Tactic do change. Arteta probably changed tactic at half time but Zinchenko dey rest room that time.

I might be wrong but, I’ve come to realize that, Arteta has principles, and one of it is that, we must control and dominate any team by attacking them, irrespective of who they are, or what ground we play.

However, he tried to make his substitutions based on that principle, but where he got it wrong was bringing Kiwior in, he was trying to balance the defending we were doing, while maintaining to ruthlessness of our attack.

The only changes we needed was, Tierney for Zinchenko, and Trosaard for Odegaard.

We lost momentum in our Attack when we removed Jesus.

At least, he kept their defenders busy which gave us some time to coordinate ourselves properly at the back.

In this game, our defenders lost their composure except for Gabriel who Kept his head.

If Jesus were in, the pressure on their defense might have been equal to the pressure on our defense, which keeps the game in a balanced position.

Arteta needs to try Trosaard in that Odegaard or Xhaka role, and then help him work on his defending and tracking rate, because TBH Odegaard was in effective today, so why keep him that long anyway.

Trosaard would have added more fluidity to our attack and Tierney more stability in our defense.

Bro...are you really making excuse? that ball was a one time pass. There was a lot of space in front of saka. Martinelli's extra touches spoilt everything.
No one is making an excuse but the miscue of the pass is not the worst take from the match. Throughout the second half, the Liverpool players camped on arsenal half and were mounting pressure upon pressure and that alone puts extra work on arsenal forwards to come back and assist in defensive job and also bomb forward for attack. If you watch the scenerio very well, he came under pressure from the counter attack and alsohad the intent to pass the ball but needed to get it right hence the too many touches but ended up passing it wrongly.

I would have been mad if he never made an attempt to pass but since it's a wrong passing made without accuracy, it should be let go as human error which I feel it's due to poor coordination. The pass would have made the difference if done correctly but that is just an error like any other error that comes with every match after all Nunez also miss one on one even Salah openly scuffled an empty net.The miscued pass for me wasn't the worst part of the match.

For games arsenal is under pressure from opponent, Arteta should not be allowing Martinelli to play 90mins.

If martinelli had assisted the last chance we had and saka scored

Holding was Terrific today in defending but we really suffered anytime we need to pass ball from the back. He's mostly nodding the ball inside or clearing it straight to their defence (or even if it's deep midfield, Liverpool would win the second balls) and this makes Liverpool always coming back to haunt us with pressure.

I know Zinny was being exploited but the tactics made was Gab was to Man Mark Salah and he was doing it well.

Kudos to Anfield fans and Klopp esp for switching it up in the 2nd half. Omorr, they made us literally parked the bus in the 2nd half grin

First time this season I saw a team destroy our structure. Our players were looking confused
first time? dey play.

He had all he time in the world to execute that pass. A simple pass into that space would have set up saka easily. But he had to dribble first.

As for the bolded, Arteta learnt the game from Pep. They always believe to dominate games no matter the ground. Hopefully, he'll be able to adjust his in-game management in case things don't go to plan

Let’s just give Ramsdale his flowers and move on to the next match . Ramsdale saved our asses and kept Gabriel Jesus’ record of always winning or drawing all matches he’s scored in.

No need crying over spilt milk . It’s a good thing city is one of the teams we will meet in the closing stages of the league run. They are under pressure the same way we are. Let’s hope for best of luck and hope the boys play their hearts out .

My expectations this season was top 4 , but here we are trying to win the league ahead of star studded city team . For all its worth , I wish Arteta and his boys win the league eventually . However , If matter cast ; nothing spoil .

Lol... I never meant that in any way.

In terms of L, didn't I admit he should be subbed or he shouldn't have lasted at most 65min?

Arteta starting him wasn't the issue, it was Arteta subbing him too late with the way the flow of the game went that was the issue.

Most people here said Martinelli should be subbed off, does that In any way mean that he shouldn't have started?
