Clubs agree to withdraw gambling sponsorship from the front of their matchday shirts, the first UK sports league to do so
Premier League clubs have today collectively agreed to withdraw gambling sponsorship from the front of clubs’ matchday shirts, becoming the first sports league in the UK to take such a measure voluntarily in order to reduce gambling advertising.

The announcement follows an extensive consultation involving the League, its clubs and the Department for Culture, Media and Sport as part of the Government’s ongoing review of current gambling legislation.

The Premier League is also working with other sports on the development of a new code for responsible gambling sponsorship.

To assist clubs with their transition away from shirt-front gambling sponsorship, the collective agreement will begin at the end of the 2025/26 season.

SOURCE

There are eight Premier League clubs with gambling companies as shirt-front sponsors, with an estimated value of £60m each year.

1. Bournemouth - Dafabet (online bookmaker)
2. Brentford - Hollywoodbets (online gambling firm)
3. Everton - Stake (online crypto casino and sports betting platform)
4. Fulham - W88 (betting firm)
5. Leeds - SBOTOP (sports betting firm)
6. Newcastle - Fun88 (online sportsbook and casino)
7. Southampton - Sportsbet (online gambling company)
8. West Ham - Betway (online gambling firm)

I am a gambler myself but I think the step is a good way to curtail gambling. Let the publicity be reduced.

Niceone. I think it’s almost taking over the whole space of sports in general not only in football. Other sports associations should also follow suit as it will give less exposure to upcoming generations to the gambling menace.

25/26 season is so far yet a great step in the right direction.

Gambling companies prey on fickleness of human minds cos the moment you are hooked on that shit you’re not going back. Trust me I been there so, yeah I know what I’m talking about.

My favorite quote from Frank on the Tv show Shameless “Once an addict, always an addict!”

I said what I said

It should be banned in Nigeria in its entirety.

This is causing mass delusion amongst average Nigerian youths.

Most of them are hoping and living to cash out without providing any value.

Their heads are filled with:
Sports bet
Roadside gambling
Fraud
Crypto
and any other easy way to scam their way to a few bucks.

The cashout economy cannot eradicate poverty.

In fact, most of them spend the easy money on prostitutes and drugs.

We cannot continue like this.
Everything should be done in moderation.
