Honestly I always assume every woman knows how to cook. infact all women I've dated know how to cook. what can be different however is that they might not know how to prepare my favourite meals usually due to tribal and/or nurture differences so cooking question for me is assumed answered already
The problem with all this cooking talk is that the women have somehow convinced themselves that they are the only ones running the house. I am sure the petrol in the generator, and the cars, the gas in the cylinder, the water if there is no borehole all just materialise out of nowhere.

I am not talking about money here - I am talking about effort to track and procure. Does the woman buy and keep track of everything that runs the house? Groceries, toiletries, house cleaning products? Who is tasked with servicing the generator? Who goes out at 1am to put it on? Who has to figure out why the car is not starting? Who fixes what's broken in the house? Who ensures all the doors are locked at night? Does the trash take itself out?

The other irony about all this cooking noise is the same women who say its not a woman's job will become fiercely territorial about 'my kitchen'

In the end to be a man - choose not to understand, but to accept. Also this

A woman must know how to cook, but comes a first date and you ask what a woman brings to the table and she responds exactly that, it's all crickets and judgment. 🤡

If a lady legitly tells you "I can cook" as one of the qualities she's bringing to a relationship, you people will accept it without question? 😂

Tomorrow, you will say they are dumb and cannot intelligently contribute to a business plan and yada yada yada.

Like, goddammit, is cooking a thing of value, for a woman, or not?!
Let's face the fact. African men are threatened by an independent woman who doesn't conform to traditional gender roles and stigma.

i think we can both agree that Tinubu has never gone on any observer / conflict resolution / statesman / big brother nigeria thing

that is simply not him and has never been.

you are grasping at straws.

Guinea is a french speaking nation, with ties to france. if this was ghana or some other former commonwealth country, it might make more sense.

Maybe we should ask what the man's always doing in Guinea then.

Feminism is just about what appears convenient to women.

Men are hardly appreciated.

Look at what Obaino is going through in Australia...tomorrow if he becomes very rich and marry a naija woman into a comfortable home, she will tell him that she can't cook?

if obaino decides after going through all these struggles alone, decides to come to the village and marry one girl from the trenches, and carries her abroad.. if she divorces obaino and takes charge of his home, I personally will contributing flogging obaino..

If he can not find a girl from a good home there.. he better enter into a pre nup marriage or contractual marriage or even adopt the baby mama method..

God forbids a man who a woman will be destroyed, that person deserves to be spat on his grave 🪦

How does sexism and stigmatisation of gender roles not affect everyone? It affects your gender as well but society pressure won't allow them speak up because they need to keep the facade of masculinity up.

African men have prejudices against independent women because they are suffering from inferiority complex and a low self esteem. This is bred from male-dominated cultural norms that have been teaching them that a woman is of a "weaker sex". We see it in marriages were the woman earns higher, we see it when a woman is successful outside marriage, we see it when a woman is thriving after a divorce etc

This was how we were raised too and it brings me to something else. I wonder what kind of children these our new generation woke ladies will raise when they become mothers. Perhaps, it's just online sha. They may hold a different opinion offline.

The only reason you think a lady must know how to cook is because you were brought up in an African misogynistic culture. A lady not conforming to that setting is seen as unacceptable to you which makes my argument for me. It's a shame you cant see it.

Omo my former HOD when I was a student is a Professor of Optometry.

She no dey too get time for domestic work. Her husband is a successful Medical doctor too with his own practice in Owerri.

These people dey travel international. As in, they're not small fish by Naija standards.

Bro, this woman dey tell us how she looks forward to being the one to make her husband's and family's meals by herself whenever she can despite being able to afford help.
I have seen lots of cases like these from very successful women.

I am a doctor and I see great women I'm different fields every day of my life, but I will be threatened by people who are starting their careers and cannot cook.
