Perjury: "..making of a statement, whether true or false, on oath in a judicial proceeding, where the person knows the statement to be false or believes it to be false. Perjury is a conduct crime." Punishment under Section 118 of the Nigerian Penal Code:14 years. INEC Go Figure!

INEC and due diligence. INEC did not vet the forms or APC candidate properly. They must now undertake an Administrative Review or become complicit in perjury and face separate charges of obstruction of justice. I still say INEC, Go Figure!

Generally, Nigerians who work for government
(including INEC) are the most incompetent and laziest. They are always quick to remind you that government job no be their papa own.

It's quite unfortunate that those who hijacked this country are the most unqualified to hold sensitive positions.

What is INEC vetting?

INEC does not have the power to disqualify any Candidate, that's why INEC announced before the elections, telling Nigerians to scrutinise the documents, forms and certificates of Candidates and go to Court.

INEC is not to blame for the alleged perjury.

Listen to yourself and tell me if you make any sense. Is it Nigerians or INEC that are the custodians of those documents? If a university admit a student that failed compulsory subjects, so it is not the fault of the university which erred in screening the documents properly but that of the parents or the school where he failed in those subjects right?

Now listen, neither the Electoral Act nor the Constitution empowers INEC to disqualify Candidates. So, if you want it differently, you urge that the laws be amended.

INEC did the best they could, by telling Nigerians and aspirants to screen through the Certificates and documenta of those seeking political offices (before the election). They also made public these documents so you and I can look through.

Universities are empowered by their regulations to screen, that's why you do clearance when you get admitted.
