When I was in junior secondary school , I learnt how to play PS from a classmate who had PS at home. My mum is a disciplinarian and would not even imagine me sitting in front of a TV playing games ; in fact she’s one of the reasons I didn’t play football professionally cos na sneak I dey sneak play ball ( Yet I best most of my peers then ; even those that ended up playing in Lower leagues ).

So I would go to my friend’s house under the guise that I want to go and assist him with his school work/assignment . My mum would allow me cos she felt proud her boy who is always coming first has a good heart to want to help his friend to level up academically * yinmu * .( Person wey I go just open book for exam and he go carry third position with ease )

He taught me how to play PS and somehow when we got to senior secondary school we were using it to run a scam scheme . We had more freedom is SS2 when we were preparing for GCE and attending tutorials . We would abandon the tutorials and go to Game Center around the area to play . I will First play my guy and beat him (as planned ) . Then some ajebutter private school student will think I’m not shit and will replace my friend to play against me while betting winner takes all. He will beat me and my friend will enter ; beat the guy and win the bet after which I will enter and beat my guy .

Before u know it we go put the guy and as many unfortunate lot of them in the middle to chop their money . The next day na the guys go come find us for tutorial say make we enter Gamehouse with the hope they will recoup their yesterday losses 🤣🤣🤣

We do those guys shege that year mehn! One of those guys I can never forget his name; Abel…..He has a “never-say-die” attitude to chopping beating . One day I told him “If dem rewrite bible 100 times , Cain go always kill Abel …. I’m ur Cain bro “

Somehow I made all my GCE papers at one sitting and my friend only had D7 in his English but he still had WAEC in SS3 that came through for him .

I later got serious with my life sha and only play game socially now .

In the midst of all these gaming tales, we must state the times we got into trouble gaming.

Na after I finish secondary school waiting for admission me and my friend dey run that process suspender parole on cafe timer .

We will buy 1 hour and then stay in one secluded part of the cafe on one system from 11am to as late as 5pm. The cafe administrator will not even remember when we came in cos he/she has so many people coming in , buying 30mins and bouncing out while more and more customers come in.

Will I say we were naive to have just been using google and yahoo messenger chatting some random people or even bots in messenger rooms ? Or maybe there was just little or nothing to do on the internet then…. Unlike now . Our minds never even crossed yahoo yahoo sef that time even though we knew some elegbon that were collecting package from fedex steady .

Aswear ! When I was much younger I dey always dey anywhere betting dey happen; either na set for football field or Game Center . People go off cloth like this dey sweat for forehead trying to gain back their lost money and it only ends up in more loss .

That’s why I just pity young boys of 21-22 dedicating their lives to sports betting . I know it will always end in tears .

You must be quite young then, or maybe your cafe no dey area where working boys dey.

In my area, na senior broses, yaya toure style egbons, that were doing G work in the cafes, especially in the early noughties. You won't even see space to buy normally, and they would often try to bully young bloods off their machines if they came around and couldn't find space.
