At the time, it did seem like a good idea. I know I was very much in support of him signing it. I also don't think that these things are necessarily blunders.

Let's look at the aspect of the electoral law that Binani is trying to exploit. It makes sense that if the RO is unable to announce results due to illness, accident or any other reason, then someone else can be delegated to do it on his behalf.

I believe those who put them had good intentions but our criminal politicians are exploiting it. Of course, I may be wrong. It could also be that the holes were deliberately planted and hidden in fine print

This particular incident is why I smile when I hear or read some political analysts complain that Nigeria's problems is our 'faulty' constitution whereas reality suggests it's the criminal mindedness of our politicians that don't allow straight forward laws to work .

Back to the Adamawa matter I expect INEC to declare the person who scored the highest votes most likely Fintiri the winner.

Binani has really spoilt her credibility for me. She should have just taken her L while raising dust which would have attracted sympathy and support from Adamawa stakeholders.

I don’t u understand in Adamawa on sunday . The RO is usually a professor(most likely a Vice Chancellor ) who will be appointed by INEC solely for the election process . The on the other hand is a staff of INEC heading their Adamawa office . It’s only the RO that can announce the results cos that’s what he’s appointed to do . That’s the reason u see INEC suspending the REC cos he’s their staff who acted out of line .

That section 149 angle will be thrashed at the Supreme Court , but before then I doubt the governor will leave office based on the illegally declared result , in fact if Finitri ends up winning after dilation is done; INEC will most likely give him certificate of return cos that’s the right thing to do.

As to your question, nothing happened to the RO, the Rec collected ₦2bn bribe (allegedly) and did what he did cos he felt the act gives him power to do it. See how in the video they were telling him not to make the announcement, but he still did like their would be no consequence.

There are deeper problems in the country beyond just the wording of the electoral law.

In another situation the RO might be the one the get the 2b naira and prematurely announce the winner. What happens then?

The disconnect between crime and punishment in Nigeria is amazing.

INEC has called for the IGP to investigate and prosecute the REC.

They have also called on the SGF to report the actions of the REC since the REC was appointed by the President and approved by the National Assembly.

I think INEC has done the right thing in this case . People complaining INEC only suspended him obviously didn’t know INEC can’t do beyond that ; they can’t sack him(since they didn’t appoint him but the president ), neither can they prosecute him since it’s police duty to do that .

The only throng wey remain na for INEC to show workings of the final result which they promised Thursday

12 angry men was a movie that’s produced ahead of its time. It’s brings fresh perspective as to the bias or otherwise that the jury takes in making a judgement.

The Banker is a true life story of 2 black men in the 1960s and the challenges the black man has to go through to own a house, do business or take a loan from the bank.

Those 2 movies are highly recommended.

They commit this illegality/crimes cos they are somewhat above the law, Yakubu also declared Tinubu winner when their were concern Tinubu didn't meet the requirement to be declared as such. Na go to Court season we dey now..
