In 2023 u didn’t include the Shipping which isn’t $1k anymore but $1315
Clearing of Camry is now 1.1m

Neither did he add minor or major fixes to the car, replacement of parts stolen before shipping, during shipping or at Naija Wharf, settlement of agbero/etc before driving car out of port, cost of moving car from naija port to state of sale which in some instances may be as much as 800km, car lot fees/expenses, car detailing,..

Make anybody wey no wan buy car at the current prices jejely import im own.... After all, the car auction sites and the high seas are open to everybody . Make nobody carry ewedu and Gbegiri analysis disturb anybody.

That's the point I'm trying to make..so they understand that the hike is not entirely the dealer's fault

Greed because Naija used sef went up.
Tell me which clearance and custom fees Naija used dey pay.

Greedy thieves!
if you want to sell your used car, won't you use the money to buy a new car that will cost more now?

Let's say you decided to buy phone.
You want to choose between Tecno and samsung.
The Tecno costs 10 and the Samsung costs 15 naira.

You decided to go for the Tecno for 10 cos thats what you can afford at that particular moment.

So as god blessed you small, you decided you want to upgrade to 15naira Samsung by selling your used Tecno, then sellers are telling you that Tecno that you bought for 10 naira is now 20 naira and the Samsung is now 30 naira?

What do you do? Do you sell the Tecno for the 10 you bought and add 20 naira to buy Samsung, or do you sell the Tecno for 15-18 naira depending on grade or how you used the phone, so you can add just 12 or 15 naira to get the Samsung you wanted?

Cost of car maintenance is also part of the cost of car ownership... Buying a car is only one step in owning a car.. Maintaining it well and keeping it very roadworthy is the more important part of car ownership.. So total cost of car ownership is the sum of these two...

Failure to understand this is why people, like that Nairalander with the Honda DC V6, keep wailing about maintenance cost of a car they bought of their own free will...

And it's the same reason why people like you keep shouting that a car bought toks in 2018 should be sold for 2018 naija used price... As if after buying it, na una give owner money wey e dey use maintain am at present prices.

If car owner puts for sale a badly maintained car for sale on this forum, na same una go abuse am taya, telling him to go sell the scrap car for iron condemn people.. But if una see well maintained car, una go begin rant about price as if na the owner 2018 piss im use dey maintain the moto.

Customers will always complain.

A man came in to buy baby food sometime ago.

Man: I need *****.

Me: It is N3950 sir.

Man: But it was N35500 the last time I came here.

Me: The price has gone up.

Man: But this is old stock, you shouldn't sell it at new price.

Me: The wholesale price the last time you came here was N3225, now it is N3653, if I sell them at the price of old stock, the cost price and my profit combined won't be able to buy new one.

Man: Then don't buy, you retailers are the problem but you will be blaming the government. Don't buy if wholesalers add money, when they stop seeing customers, they too will stop buying from the manufacturers and this will force the manufacturers to reduce price.

Bro, let bill everything in dollar, since is a foreign item.

Clearing of 2008 toyota camry then was 500k which was equivalent to 1.390k using 360k as the rate.
You buy the car in auctions for 2500 in texas , towed it for 300 to the seaport, ship it for 1200 and the clear it for 1390 and then profit to be 300. Lets add this up and convert it to the current exchange rate of 750. Thats about 5390 , convert this to naira which is 4m for foreign used camry but you guys are selling it for 4.8m. No be stealing be that. And nigeria used should be 35% less than the actual price of 4m, which would have been 2.6 m for a nigeria used camry but you guys are selling it for as high as 3.3 m

If 4 million finishes everything about a car to display ground 4.8 isn't too much to sell it maybe 4.5

Lol

Some Nigerians are amazing honestly..

A car dealer sinks 4m of his money into a vehicle that may sometimes take months to before he sells it.. Then one entitled somebody somewhere will expect him to sell at cost price or 100k gain.. 100k that can't buy 3 bags of rice in 2022..That entitled person should lead by example and tie down his own 4m in a vehicle for months and sell it for a gain of 50k..

As far as I am concerned, anyone who ties down any sum of money in a business should at least get 10% profit out of it.. In present day Naija, one even has to widen the profit margin to buffer one's finances against inflation.. In 2018, one could sell a toks car with a profit of 100k, or even 50k like those Hausa car dealers (God bless them), and that 100k or 50k will pay for something tangible.. Na now wey 100k no fit buy 3 bags of rice na im somebody dey expect another Pesin to tie down his 4m for pittances..

Any car dealer wey no make at least 10% of his investment on a car in 2023 is just deceiving himself... Because even the people who are complaining about "greedy" car dealers have hiked up prices of the goods and services they supply....Even keke rider wey hike im fare when fuel was sold at 400 per litre has refused to reduce it now that fuel is everywhere at 220 per litre or less.. But if the same keke rider wants to upgrade to a car, he will be crying blood that car dealers are greedy.

In present day naija, dem no dey beg Pesin to buy moto.. If anyone shortsells his vehicle now, he is on his own, because with the look of things and the removal of subsidy in the horizon, things will get much worse. And it's not a Nigerian thing... Even those in the countries we Japa to are having crazy inflation..

its GREED!

more reason they will sell 1 car in 4months before getting another buyer to buy another car at the outrageous price tag.

They are so patient and contended with the everyday cleaning.

How would you ship in a car with total cost of 4m and sell it for 5million? That means the person is a thief
