The beauty about science is that it improves upon its standard. The SpaceX that failed is the most powerful rocket ever built, with a launching force nearly twice that of NASA rockets, so it is expected the force will shatter everything around it including the launchpad.

All they have to do now is gather data and improve upon what happened. Anyone who follows my posts will know I am not an Elon Musk fan but I respect his sense of creativity which is spurred by curiosity.

He will eventually get it right.

Obi in Borno. I will Pull the CHILDREN of the North out of poverty. grin grin grin. Northerners should be clapping and dancing for him for saying that

Statistics came out to say the South East has the highest number of poor person per square miles. Most people on front page are even rejecting the statistics but they want northerners to be dancing and twerking for Obi for insulting their children.
How many square miles does the entire southeast have?
Compare it to Borno State alone and let us see.

How many people in the southeast are poor relative to the total population?
Compare it to some of the states in the north and let us see.

You will never see good in anything Obi says or does. Let's rest abeg.

I understand what the proverb says but it doesn’t apply here . No be today we non-easterners dey talk about Baby factory problem of easterners , also saying south south youths engage in Yahoo yahoo more trigger them to call it insult . Why will northerners get triggered for calling a spade a spade ?

If we are afraid of talking about the problem , how do we come up with a solution ?

Lots of Northern leaders have called out the widespread poverty in the east including up to Sanusi Lamido.

It's only a problem when Obi does it.

I have read books of nearly all the Apollo space programs and watched Apollo 13 (my favorite Apollo of course), which I encourage everyone to see. Honestly, if you have not seen Apollo 13, try find am.

The success of a space program is exhaustive but na money kill am. If Elon continues to find ways to fund this program, he will eventually get it right. What he attempted 2 days ago was historic if you consider the sheer size and power of that rocket.

People will always get defensive about their sore spot when it's discussed by someone perceived not to be one of them

It's why you avoid discussing height related issues with a dwarf

If the Northerners see it as a problem they should address it.

This is similar the “leave no child behind” policy under Bush that has contributed the struggles of our education and school system.

Are they planning to give people with higher credit scores some form of relief in tax breaks?

Nobody is doing comparison here. My point is that no one likes poverty.

Obi is an outsider. Obi is not a Northerner . A very important person like Obi. A presidential candidate should should be guided when it comes to issue like this.

These stereotypical territorialisations of crimes and negative stereotypes are often considered offensive when they are uttered by “outsiders” but tolerated, sometimes praised even, when they are uttered by “insiders.”

World bank’s poverty index ranks northern states among the top 10 states with poor people ….. Why are the northerners not fighting world bank ?

NBS statistics as at 2022 says 65% of poor people in Nigeria reside in the north while 35% reside in the south . Why is nobody calling NBS out for the stats?

Abi all of them be insiders to northerners ?

If we claim Nigeria is one country , then all Nigerians are qualified to talk about Nigeria’s problem . What happens in the north affects us all here . The insecurity issue for example impacts on food production. It’s just the same way those mmm activities of Unknown gunmen/ipob militants affects transportation business , logistics/haulage businesses etc .

Obi is a Nigerian. The north is part of Nigeria. If we want to argue that any Nigerian can work anywhere in Nigeria, pay taxes etal, then anyone is qualified to comment on the situation anywhere in Nigeria

Also the almajiri problem and it's fallout are affecting all Nigerians. Bandits do not discriminate when kidnapping or killing. They do not say, this one is Ibo, leave him.

The general response to cultures we find strange is to shrug - na their problem - until those cultures start to affect the rest of us. As an example no one was interested in Islam per se until after 911.after that everyone was reading and interpreting the Quran and generally putting Islam and Muslims under a microscope.

Is the state of poverty in Northern Nigeria a Northern problem or a Nigeria problem? I am worried your bias is not letting you see past the reality and that is why you are outraged about Obi's statement. Where is this outrage when the World Bank made the statement below? Are they not outsiders also? This is nothing but an emotional take from you because you obviously admit that Obi is right but as long as it doesn't come from him.

I just hope you won't have a problem with Chima Azubuike now.

Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by afrodoc2: 3:27pm On Apr 22, 2023
As a presidential candidate, knowing the lay of the land and how people can distort such statements, Obi should have just made a general statement about tackling Nigerian poverty rather than singling out the North.

Now a statement that should have been lauded by all is being mischaracterised and psychoanalysed by his detractors.

Most Nigerians abroad when they hear other people rubbishing Nigeria/Africa feel defensive about it to an extent, and even if we don’t push back we try to correct a few misconceptions.

He definitely was not wrong, but he just wasn’t wise.

The same way many people get defensive when the defect of their children is discussed

Have you seen the response of Northerners to all these world bank and UN reports? It became an issue of leave us to die and take your western report away whther true or not. At a time they stopped taking polio vaccines as a result until they had to enroll prominent Northern leaders to talk to their people

Same way IPOB issue cannot be resolved by outsiders until the leader in the region takes responsibility and talk to their children. When outsiders talk about UGM haven't you seen the defensive stands some take, they claim its overblown, some claim its DSS, some even say its an outright lie and nothing of such happens

Same way Agbero cannot be resolved by outsiders if not from SW

Same way Jonathan Edwin Clarke and Asari were those sent to ND militants

Same way I will likely be defensive if an Oyinbo is telling me about how Nigerians are scammers and saying the exact same thing I say about Nigeria scam on Nairaland. It's not that the Oyinbo is wrong, it's because he is an outsider. A white person comes here and mentions Nigerian scam, the likely response will be that Russia Romania do more scams than us and he is racist but not when a Nigerian says exactly the same

Trump and Obama can make the exact same statement word for word about perceived ills in the black community and would be received differently. For example talk about crime or breakdown of family by Trump or Obama you will see the difference in response

If there is anything wrong and the insiders don't acknowledge and try to fix it very little progress will be made, same reason the entire US war on terror was seen as war on Islam and war on Middle Eastern culture so much that young men who have been oppressed for decades are fighting the US who wanted to liberate them because they are seen as outsider

That's why policy makers get people in the demographic to speak about the issues affecting their community

This is an interesting perspective that would make me read up on it and see if this is true. I can imagine the disbelief in the faces of these "Christians" would only be below the level that their faces showed when I told and proved to them that the serpent didn't lie to Eve in the garden
No.

Nooooo o. You got it mixed up.

I said the serpent lied to Eve, alright, but Eve never deceived or tempted Adam. At least, no indication of such.

And God told Adam not to eat of the tree; while when Eve was communicating with the serpentshe said, "God said we should not eat of the tree in the middle of the garden.'

The positioning thing might just be an inconsequential thing I noticed.

And yes, she wasn't present when God told Adam not to eat of the tree.

Understanding my argument. I don't argue with statistics.

Are all the children of the North poor. You come to my region and tell me you will pull my children out of poverty. I will pull the children of the North out of poverty. Is insulting. There are children from the North that are far richer than Obi.

Aisha Buhari was rightly criticized in 2015 in Benin when she said the biggest problem facing people down South is child trafficking and mistreatment of widows. But we should clap for Obi.

Imaging a presidential candidate campaigning in certain region and saying. He will pull the spirit of cannaibalism out of the children in that region. How will the people of that region feel?

Okay now. Let the north be rich to outsiders and poor to insiders since poverty in the north is an issue they must get defensive about when “outsiders” talk about the subject matter .

May God see them through . I rest my case .

I pray something is done about this almajiri system of education. If you can't provide for your children in far distance places to learn, send them to almajiri school that is close to you.

It should be modernize. Is not FG problem.

All Northern Governors should modernize it. They know what to do.

Northern Kingdom stretches far to Niger, Cameroon Chad etc. They are like brothers. They have been brothers pre- colonial times before the colonial masters draw the line but they are still brothers.

Some of those children are from those countries. Their parents send them to learn in Nigeria.

You have already stated why such modernisation would not work.
The British borders are meaningless in the eyes of many core Northerners. Their loyalties are ethnic rather than nationalistic, which is the same across the South, just that our tribes don’t spread across huge swathes of foreign land.

Less than a week ago some females came to this thread to fight that cooking is not necessary but when among themselves they pat themselves on the back and brag about their cooking skills. Try take a look at the food section

A group of matured singles who are praying everyday to get a partner but when a married person speaks about it that's when you hear that they chose to be single or point out the ills of being married

A group of obese people who are dying in gyms, taking diet pills and spending thousands on surgery will start telling you they like the way they look and they are body positive when a perceived outsider speaks about the same problem they are complaining about

Just that I don't like the way those children are suffering. Those ones with money provide for their children they send to almajiri school but most of them will just send them and expect the mallams to provide for their feeding. Is heartbreaking.

Now is not planting season. They don't have any work to do apart from begging because the mallams can't provide for them.

The northern elites don't care. They don't give a fvck about those children. Any northern politician you see coming on tv to talk about the almajiri is scam. They don't care. They are full of lies.

Atiku allegedly has 5 wives and 26 children
Matawllwe allegedly has 4 wives and 30 kids

The more moderate guys

Eh Buhari has 11 kids
Reformist Sanusi has 10 kids

If the leaders are doing this what will the masses be doing? This is one of the roots of almajiri

My old boss, educated still had 7 kids and counting last I saw him. I have 3 pikins and I am stressed out. This goes beyond basic providing. How do you actually raise more than 4 kids while hustling /working?

On a whatsapp group one colleague said the wives will raise the kids, that that was their job.

And that is also where some of the issues start from. When dad is just an atm machine and not much else (for the wealthy) for the poor no dad, no mum just a mallam to whom you are just a passer by

Is a big problem. Is one of the biggest problems we are facing down here.

Give birth to the number of children you can take care of but no most of them won't listen.

At least give birth to number of children you can train even to university level. I pray we get it right.

The principal of the school I served had 26 children when I was leaving. Because it was a boarding school the principals family eat from the food stock the state govt send to the school. But during long holidays when govt doesn't send food, his kids go hungry and beg corpers for food.
At the time the 20 kids are begging the Principal was in National ancops meeting in Delta state when he came back he told us in the staff room about the sexual escapades of Southern women

When I was leaving in August he just married an 18yr old who just finished NeCO when his first wife complained that the current ones are not getting care, he sent her out

Latest I heard he has retired into penury, his kids are likely almajiris all over town
