2mercy: On this one, The federal government is doing okay, No blame here. It is unfair to compare the Nigeria market with other African countries. Countries like Ghana with lower tax rate and levies have no competitive advantage like Nigeria. Nigeria have a population of over 200 milion people, that is about 30 times Ghana and 95% other countries. Companies are turning in bilions in profit due to the huge market availablility. Besides most huge investors regard Nigeria as ground zero of business expansion due to human resources and hence networking here is very easy and leveraging on partnership is easy So can they please shut up and do busineas 1 Like |

Taxes with not responsibility, provision or accountability to the taxpayers. That's is the characteristics and mode of operation of an irresponsible government After taking huge loans and accomplishing nothing with it and oil revenue is being mismanaged and stolen they have to depend heavily on taxes for revenue. 1 Like |

jaxxy: You pay taxes in Nigeria? That's strange. Except organisation I don't think any Nigerian pay taxes. Yet government still provide roads (though not as good as we want but it's free), free education from primary to University, free power supply (though not regularly). But don't you think if we're paying for all these just like they do in other countries, I think nigeria will be better 1 Like |

You see Nigeria 🤔. That's why I always laugh at the people that are always crying that they pay tax abroad. Do they not pay in Nigeria, off course to me the tax in Nigeria is even higher, if you work as a worker in Nigeria and Nigeria government tell you that they increase your salary with 50 naira, they will use tax to take 20 naira out of it and at the end of the day, only the government benefit from the tax, not the citizens. Meanwhile if you don't do government work, you still pay indirectly, because by the time they increase tax on the industry, those will increase the price of their products, so you get less value for what you buy. So I prefer the abroad taxing system especially here in the US, where you even get tax credit after filing your taxes. I always see the tax credit like government as been saving money for me for the products that I have been buying for my own family use. |

Multiple taxes introduced by the three tiers of government has crippled Industries in the country, even the proceeds from these taxes are not seen in any form In the economy, despite this, they still go borrowing. Not to mention the VAT imposed on Nigerians, the government has increased the rate of poverty in Nigeria.Inflation is on an all time high . 1 Like |

Tadadobe: What are you saying? If you don't know, you better ask. I pay income tax of about 1.8million Naira monthly. Do I get equivalent worth of that in services provided? The roads I can't drive my cars on, I still pay for my kids education right from primary school, electricity is hardly available, I still sank my own borehole to get water. Can you tell me what they offer me to justify collecting 1.8million monthly? Yet, It doesn't stop Nigerian police from slapping or harassing me or any other citizens on the road. It's obvious you are one of those that don't pay taxes in Nigeria. 2 Likes |
