For all the criticism of Buhari's reign I think Buhari has done something we must all appreciate, Buhari brought a strong level of professionalism in Nigerian politics that never existed before.

The very creation of APC itself is a sign of seriousness, merging three major parties by putting aside their differences and working together. Ironically PDP has gone in the opposite direction.

I remember before the 2015 election how rumours were spreading that if Jonathan doesn't win - the Niger deltans will burn all the oil fields, Nigeria will be bankrupt, Tampolo or Tompolo was on TV making all sorts of boasts, about what he would do if Jonathan doesn't win. However once Buhari won the so called burnings didn't happen and Tompolo quietly faded into obscurity.

The way Buhari handled IPOB showed a strong level of professionalism and political maturity, first capturing him in Kenya, yet carefully not killing or harming him in any physical way, instead bringing him to Nigeria to face the law.

During Jonathan time Shekau was a regular Tv celebrity, but Buhari first faded him into obscurity before he eventually killed himself.

Buhari has forced everybody to be serious, professional and pragmatic, from police to bankers to politicians and we must thank him for that.
