The anonymous internet allows people to project a little bit.

For example, A peter obi superfan on Nairaland might be spouting anti-obi rhetoric on Facebook.

Don't be surprised to learn that people might be making arguments on here that they don't really believe in.

Or do you think our parents and grand parents who sent thier sons and daughters to school in equal numbers were exposed to all your feminist theories?

Was funmilayo ransome Kuti exposed to your manifestos?
But I am glad that you say now that the things feminists are saying, that some of our foreparents did, were actionable feminism (if you like don't call it by the word) in some respect, and not "wokeness" or Westernization.

I clearly mentioned this to Blue Ray Dick yesterday.

In Igbo land, especially after the war, families who couldn't afford to send multiple children to the school all chose the females while the boys were asked to go and hustle. The 'Igba boy' entrepreneurial system existed before then but that move made it a lot more popular.

In any health field, you will meet a lot more females than males, capable, smart ladies moving mountains in various fields.

The playing field isn't level for everyone, if not I and Davido or Jowizaza would've started from the exact same point.
A system where everyone is given all they need to succeed and not held back for whatever reason is the ideal. Equality of opportunity. Equity.

When you now begin to insist upon equality of outcome, you begin to create serious problems.
shhh that is what they call benevolent patriarchy these days. when we were in uni, an uncle sent a thinkpad to my sis. he said he would not send me one as i should be able to hustle for it. benevolent patriachy everywhere angry angry

While growing up, I didn't know of any family friend who didn't allow their daughters to go to school but sent their son. Maybe in the generation of our parents sha

Most of my classes from primary school to secondary was half boy and girl
Until SS classes when girls started leaving science class for arts class because they didnt like calculations to university when girls generally avoid Engineering like they do everywhere in the world even in the western countries

Equal outcome that is what liberal parties and Democratic party is about. The advantage Unlimited22 has by being a medical doctor forgetting the rigors he went through to get there.
Rather than not sending the girl, everybody go dey house.

If everybody no go, the girls are first priority.

Nope, not our kind of "liberal" that basically entails entertaining people of different faith unlike other Muslims who share more extreme views and attitudes towards people of different faith.

No I'm saying, Muslims who are liberal in their worldviews, pro-abortion, supports gay rights and most importantly believes in women rights and equality of genders. These are the hallmarks of liberalism.

A departure from the former traditional way of life.
I get now. I understood liberal differently cheesy

In Scandinavian countries which are generally accepted to be the leaders in feminism, some programs were started to ensure female quotas in 'traditional male' jobs.
The outcome, of course, wasn't what was expected.

There are still places where women are second hand citizens. They couldn't drive in Saudi Arabia until recently. I don't agree with the extremes of the Afghan regime as an example.
Na all these kind things we suppose dey focus on, not all these yeye arguments that keep recycling on here.

The thing is funny.

You have been pulling narratives out of the ass and running with it.

Isn't it equality of opportunities we've been talking about since??
Since yesterday, you guys have been dunking on feminists as though feminism is a bad thing and today you're voicing out support for the exact same things feminists have been talking about.

its like my comments on chimamanda in a differnt discussion. her idea of feminism seems to be using her power to get first female chieftaincy titles in her ancestral village - while unlooking the plight of widows and at risk girl children in the same community.

but hey its so much easier to just relax in your neo liberal neo feminist cocoon paint everyone who does not subscribe to your ethos black. so much internet win!

Where I grew up Moslems and Christian are no different

Some of my friends when they don't bear Islamic first names we generally assumed they were Christians cos we all behaved the same way

Until it's time for WAEC and you have to use 3 names then you will see an Islamic name sneak in between the normal Yoruba names we all grew up together drank beer together, go revival grounds together mostly to toast babes, sneak out of school together
Actually post Ramadan beer parlors will tell you their sales will double or triple because of the millions of liberal minded moslems who took a 30days detox break

You can imagine my shock when I started seeing WAEC list and Ahmed coming in between the names of friends Bola Tinubu, or Raji coming up between Tunde Fashola, Gafar between the name of Femi Adebayo etc

There were always liberal minded moslems and Christians who were the majority and all joined to laugh at the conservative Deeper life and Tebliq

Seankafor: feminists are loyal to their men offline. They collect pricks on a steady and pound fufu. They are submissive in a happy marriage.

Ebukacute: feminists always end up lonely and sex-starved and seeking for husbands at the end of their lives.

You guys do understand that these examples you're actually listing is the very same things feminists are fighting against.

How are you guys not seeing this?

Feminists are saying that people shouldn't be discriminated against by virtue of sex.

I don't know how true this story of sending only girls to school and leaving the boys is. What I do know is that boys themselves preferred to trade than go to school. As in, it was their CHOICE.

But we're saying the same thing. It's very wrong for your uncle to have decided to give your sister the tab while not giving you because you're a male. It's Also very wrong to send a girl to school while not sending the boy to school.

2 wrongs don't make a right.
And the fact that indeed these things did happen doesn't still rule out the fact that women are systematically disadvantaged in our society.
I mean, we live in a country where more than half (100 million) people believe that a woman should never shake a man who isn't her husband. That's still our society.

We live in a society where a woman needs approval from family members for her choice of husband.
