You have a point though. However, I believe if you're almost there, you should do everything it takes to be there. There is simply no excuse, I repeat no excuse for bottling the league this season. Not like we're 1 point ahead. 5 valuable points FFS. We bottled a 2-goal lead not once but twice. What's even more embarrassing was how ordinary Southampton ran rampage in front of our fans. I should now use one useless development plan to console myself? No bro.
The team fumbled! They didn't try enough.
Lol, I understand your anger and disappointment but one thing I know is that the boys tried. Title challenge pressure(esp if na Man city dey your back) is different from Top4 pressure.

Losing two goal lead and display against Southampton is bad enough but that's because of the pressure to be almost perfect that caused us but I believe all these things will add as experience.

I've always said, the only reason why you think we didn't try enough is because of how deadly Man city is plus we're inexperienced In this title challenge journey. As long as this group is together, we'll grow and it's certain.

Nobody wants to believe in process again sha.
Me I'll always believe in process over any results cos good process will surely yield good results and it can be sustainable for long while good result can just come even if the process is not right but we all know it can never ever be sustainable

It is the refusal to hold this team and coaches accountable that frustrates me the most. We act like Arteta is doing us a favor coaching this team. What does phase(s) have to do with us blatantly bottling the league and getting knocked out of every competition. Last season, we had an opportunity to make the top 4, we were in control of our destiny but we blew it and some did not see anything wrong with it and here we are bottling the league again.

While we are going through this phase which is vague in my thoughts (is this phase 1-5 or phase 1 to eternity?), are other teams just sitting and watching? Do you seriously believe City/ Liverpool/ Chelsea/ United are just going to lay duck? Or are we going to become perennial top 4 contenders like we have been in the past? I seriously don't get. I say this all the time, maybe some of us built differently when it comes to expectations.

We are not getting this chance next season, not with Arteta's refusal to be flexible with his tactics, predictability and understanding his opponents. Listen man, I am really disappointed. Newcastle should be the one celebrating their season because they overachieved, especially if they make the top 4, not Arsenal. This sense of mediocrity amongst fans makes me sick to my stomach. It has been over 20 years and folks are refusing to call it what it is because they don't want to offend Arteta.

My Milan side finished 2nd behind Inter in the 2020/2021 season. Going into the 2021/2022 season and based on the transfers made and the team, we figured we should get the top and remain in the UCL. No Milan fan thought we stood any chance of winning the Scudetto against heavy spenders like Inter, Juventus and Napoli but as the season progressed, we soon realized we were in the mix and guess what? we dumped everything else and focused on winning the league. When opportunities avail themselves, you strike and strike hard because there are no guarantees.

If we want to talk about poor officiating, it's better we talk about 2 potential red cards which the ref didn't issue to those City players.
You can bring valid points to make your case about the red cards, just like how Andro.id did his
Aside the Penalty which I missed(which Andro.id showed me because I didn't start the match from beginning), I think the ref was very very fair In his job

Jodera, the pressure you mentioned is an excuse. We're all the players not saying they're taking one game at a time and that they're not watching other teams? If you can't handle pressure, how can you win? You know how many clubs will be competing for the league next season? Shey na until then the team will grow.
Not that I don't believe in the team but their performance this season was woeful. It could have been better if we're still in other competitions.

We're acting like this team didn't try enough and that's what is really surprising me. In context, this 75points as at MD31 is the highest point arsenal have ever accrued in their history even more than the invicibles. The goals is also the highest goal scored in Arsenal's history. Takeaway Man city from the mix or put arsenal in any other seasons pre Guardiola and we would be strolling to title even with the 3 draws.

We're doing as if we didn't try and focus on the league. Something that we strengthened our transfer window with Trossard and Jorginho just so we could maintain momentum. We even have to use more of 2nd 11 against Sporting while resting some key players In the must win match just because we're focusing on league which it backfired spectacularly.

Arteta have a plan and a blueprint and so far he's been following them well. Judge him when he doesn't achieve anything when he's in Phase 5 and not when he's in the process to get there

That grab like a push or shove Is a red card? No nah

That kick is a yellow card all day and he was duly given. It wasn't a stamp or high foot.

If any Arsenal player is given red card because of this, I would have para.
Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Jodera: 9:12pm On Apr 28, 2023
I remember when I was constantly arguing In Man utd thread when Klopp was building what he was building. When he lost Europa to Sevilla and people where saying he bottled it not knowing what his team needs was experience and more quality. Even when he lost Carling cup on penalties and they were calling him bottler too. I remember when was it me and I think Expe.rt with Patrick.muf was talking about how Klopp's Liverpool play pattern was glaring to see and that just few more additions with same great players, Liverpool would be feared.

Now, Liverpool is now that team most teams want to be like but few people have forgotten the process.

I will always say it, I prefer a process that's positive and sustainable over a long period of time than any fast result that will just give me short term gain.

It's not Mediocrity!!!

Well, the way I was brought up is to always think about the process and the results will take care of itself. It might be sooner or later but as long as you keep doing the process which is right, you'll eventually get that result.
I feel we're so worried about other teams improvement that we sometimes neglect the improvement and progress we've actually made or how far we've come

I remember when this season wanted to start, I was so certain we'll make Top4 because of how we played the previous season. Put in fact that I assumed Liverpool and Manchester city will make the top 2 leaving two spots up for grabs. The other two spots have Tottenham with Conte with a very good record, Tuchel with Chelsea (another good coach and team) and Man utd with Ten Haag. All four of us competing for only two spots but I was very very certain we'll make it. I don't know which two will be left out but I was so sure we'll be among the other two. That's because I saw our massive improvement and progress of last season.

Ba anywhere belle face, they found out our tactics in the second half of the season but we were managing wins until injuries came in
personnel issue dey. I dunno if it's only me but Teta looks like he doesn't have an idea how to utilize Nelson, for one. His dying minutes goal is kinda what made him to get minutes this season else, as far a teta is concerned, RN na bench player, which is a bad thing to me.

Personnel first
Tactics next. But none is as frustrating as in game management.

We'll need to get this summer transfer right in order to improve on what we already did. Our bench and squad depth this season was Top4 at best and it proved so. The quality between 1st 11 and 2nd 11 is very stark. Hopefully we'll get it right.

I believe Arteta would improve in his in-game management next season. Even though we're all disappointed but we must admit that Arteta's in-game management this season was very improved compared to last one. Everything is a process and I believe he'll improve as he's always doing season by season.

Well, Trossard being a starter now is too late. He should have maintained his spot when he finally benched Nketiah as our team were gun blazing with Trossard but Arteta had other ideas in Jesus. Sorry to say but I'm not feeling Jesus post injury compared to Jesus before WC. And I still think Trossard would have been kept till end of season where him and Jesus would have drag the spot in preseason
Trossard has done all to be a starter. Like his Master, he has this bias or preference for some players, Jesus walked into the team and Trossard was sacrificed. A much more experienced coach will slowly reintroduce him to the team. Jesus has not helped since his return to me. Trossard na starter, epl. proven and team player in final third with eyes for goal. Haba. It is not late. Let jim get his minutes abeg. Glad Nketiah is back sha

This bolded is what is really vexing me too. Trossard have shown time and time again that he never gives up even when all holes seems lost but he never starts him.

Absolute nonsense.

Bernardo fouled Partey but he thought it was Grealish and then charged into him, striking him. Grealish retaliated by grabbing him. Ref issued both players yellow cards. That should have been Partey's second yellow of the game.

Later on, Partey held unto Haaland, preventing him from the breakaway. In every other day that should be Partey's second make it third yellow card. Oliver issues a freekick and let's Partey off without his second yellow.

White does not get yellow carded for kicking and tugging at Diaz who is on the floor. Dias reacts by fouling him by the outstretched foot. If he had struck him with more force that would have been a straight red but because he acted mildly but in retaliation, the idiot ref issues one yellow card to Ruben and none to white.

Holding was acting his name on Erling and KdB all game. If the ref is consistent, Holding should have been sent off before he scores.

Xhaka?

What illegal goal?

Stop chatting wass.

This is just plenty shalaye. Our best chance of winning the league is this season. Next season will even be tougher with Newcastle United probably getting quality players, Liverpool solving their midfield wahala, Man city still being Man city, Tottenham finding a good coach, Man Utd gets their sugar daddy and start swimming in money to buy what Ten hag needs, and Chelsea getting back the Chelsea spirit.

How are we sure Arteta wouldn’t still remain rigid in his tactics and approach to games next season. How are we sure that the intensity of this season wouldn’t affect the productivity of our team next season.

Like Roland17 had stated, we had a chance to be like AC Milan of last season but fell off when it’s most important. If we had lost to only Man city and perhaps the draw against Liverpool, I will still understand. But those two pointless okro draw is not acceptable.

So if it’s not now, when? Because Guardiola will still be coaching Man city next season and his team will still bring their usual winning mentality to the league.

Anyways, the season is still open. Perhaps fortune might still smile at us.

Lol... I'm not exonerating the team for their draws over Southampton and West Ham cos I know that was totally bad and I'll criticize them based on that but what I refuse to neglect nor criticize is this team's performance or progress this season as a whole and call them bottler or sort.

The Milan side, let's pretend that Milan didn't show a very good glimpse of massive improvement from the 2019/20 to 2020/21 season. They just from perennial 6th/or out of top 4 and jump into 1st I guess.

The way you guys are saying is that you already know tomorrow and that arsenal won't compete or that if we won't win it this season, we can never win it again. Well, why don't we wait and let time be the Judge of that.

I said here last week that I don't believe this will be the last time arsenal will challenge for the league. Now I know they have the experience and I believe them to work on that as long as this core group of players are together.
