Today, three amazing undergraduate students spoke with me. They’re looking for funds to accelerate their startup. In our business, we have a policy of not investing in startups run by undergrads who have months to graduation. My thesis is simple: life is more than building companies and making money. Education is the liberation of the mind, and it is very important that many people experience that.

Young people, read it from me: do not drop out to go and build companies, in Africa, citing Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg. Bill and Mark did not drop out, they merely dropped in. In a way, they replaced mass-training professors at Harvard with private Harvard-quality professors called venture capitalists (VCs). Which one is better? A Harvard professor that asks you to pay school fees or the VC that writes you $millions and still coaches you because he wants to ensure his $millions are safe? The funding ecosystems in Nigeria are not at that level yet.

I am a TED Fellow, a World Economic Forum Young Global Leader, etc, the kind of immersive experiences in some ecosystems is a testament that using “dropout” does not do justice to what happens to these technical “dropouts”. Do not fall into the illusion: stay in school and work hard. The best companies have not been started. That university education is an internship for something big – make the best out of it. #graduate https://lnkd..in/dJDupYWT Ndubuisi Ekwekwe

you re talking like average Nigerian mothers grin

Most of us young guys wants to build an empire and brand before thinking of anything marriage.. and when we have built this, it's the highway 🛣️ or nothing.. no settling for less

Personally, I'll like to have my own house 🏠, multiple streams of income and good good life before anything marriage.. and I only have until 35 to life to do these embarassed

If all these are done before 35 and I get to marry, good and fine..

But after 35, that's when I'll start putting having kids as my topmost scale of preference (not necessarily marriage)..
Well, in as much as I respect those who are married and things are working fine for them in their marriage, kudos to them!, I will not hesitate to point out the fact that The whole concept of marriage does not add up to me honestly. What's the point of marriage? What if I refuse to marry?. Away from religion, I don't see the point of marriage honestly? I mean, must I marry before the society accept me? What's the point of marriage? To fulfil rightousness? To be part of society? To what extent sef? To show I'm a man? I mean, to be recognised as a responsible individual?

The whole concept of marriage is the reason for all these shenanigans of feminist brouhaha.

When I readi, I bring the damn children to the world without marriage or being married.

Make ah enjoy my little freedom, privacy and security small. kiss kiss kiss kiss kiss

I felt sad reading this . Wilson Oruma was duped of 2 billion naira while he was trying to prepare for life after retirement .

Femi Opabunmi had Glucoma that has now rendered him penniless .

Does Nigeria even have any provisions for these heroes of the past ?

Oruma made money and lots of it. He played at top French level for 16 years. His downfall was lack of financial education. He committed N2bln to fraudsters which was a clean £8m at the time.

What a wonderful CM he was. I preferred him to Okocha. He was a modern CM, never lost the ball but also pressed properly unlike Okocha. His longevity at the top also speaks to his dedication to physical fitness. Oruma played Under17 in 1993, immediately joined Lens and played mostly in French league till 2009, eventually retiring in 2010 after one year in Greek league. That's a lot of consistent earnings. Will never forget his 2 goals scored against Argentina in Under17 World Cup. That was the first tournament where I watched football with small sense. He absolutely dominated that tournament and finished top scorer from midfield.

Without Oruma, there would be no Olympics either as he provided the Amuneke assist in the final and the pass that bounced off Ikpeba for Kanus winning goal in the semi. Oruma was a technical beast on the pitch if you saw him play in Marseille, and that dude would have been mid30s to late30s in real age then. Okocha really held him back.

I still don't know what possessed him to put all his life savings of N2bln in oil block scammers. This guy should have properties all over France earning him rentals, and arguably earned on a par with Okocha. If he removed just £2m from that £8m and put in property, he would have been OK

Glaucoma is a terrible, terrible disease, man.

Especially seeing as the type that most affects blacks gives no warning.

Please guys, especially if you're over 40, try and go see an eye doctor once a year. Factor it into your general medical checkup, please

I beg you.

You can think you're seeing fine one day, and the next day you're being led about by the hand.

And, for now at least, glaucoma has no cure, unless Otem decides to intervene in your case.

Happy weekend guys.

IMO Nigeria doesn't owe these people it's not like they weren't earning during their days on duty
Even politicians we don't owe them shit but corruption make those ones rewrite laws and entitlement for their selfish interest
The occupations I think we owe a lot are medical field the doctors and nurses that put their lives at risk during virus outbreak and those who go extra miles to secure our lives
The second are the soldiers who protect us with their lives

You see footballers, actors/actresses etc I don't think we owe them any penny

He probably had the old notion of investing in one’s home country instead of abroad . I guess that was what led him to getting swindled.

Funny enough , it was a pastor that swindled him of the N2 billion

Countries owe heroes . Heroes who brought smile to the faces of millions of other citizens deserve to be honored and taken care of in time of distress .

I won’t even wait to get to that age sef before seeing doctor.

When I was in school , I visited the school clinic and complained about my eyes getting itchy and having coloration of the white part of the eye . The doctor diagnosed allergic conjuctivitis, gave me an oral drug and an eye drop which I used then .

Till now I find it difficult driving really well at night cos once the light of an oncoming vehicle reflects on my windshield it takes me time to adjust to it. I guess I will have to see a doctor soon

It's a damn shame. He had fixed income in his hand for the rest of his life and chose to gamble. The emotional trauma is understandable

No definitive cure for glaucoma but it can be controlled with drops, tablets , laser, surgery.

That sorry saddens me anytime I remember it.

The guy was more tactically astute than Okocha but Okocha had the flashy moves. If not for the all or none politics they used to play in the Super Eagles that time both of them should have been able to have good national team careers.

Reminds me of how Yekini snuffed the national careers of Owubokiri and Ohenhen.
