festacman:True, but can we also say 20 is better than 4? 20 overdressed men would be nearer to the people than the 4 overdressed men. |

festacman:Emirate is not local government. It is an historic heritage that should either remain the way it is or be scrubbed. It’s not as if they are dividing it for easier governance. There is no governance. The Kano Emirate should retain its size for historical purpose |

Chinjo2:and you are doing as if you don't know this country, even after doing investigation and Ganduje is guilty of misappropriation of funds, who is going to arrest him?, is it the police or efcc?, why do you think he's closer to the president elect? Don't forget federal power supersede state power, Ganduje can only go to jail when APC is not on federal seat. |

festacman:Have you been to Kano state? I asked because you referred Emir as "one overdressed man." Kwankwaso tenure as the governor of Kano brought notable development to kano state, i ask again, have you been to Kano state? I encourage you to ask question about Kano before commenting on Kano issues. |

festacman:Na wah for u Ooo. There's only one king in England, what's wrong if Kano state has only one (strong) Emir? Our colonial masters have destroyed our culture and heritage. Besides, few countries in the Middle East (and other part of the world) are still practising their monarchy system and they're doing better than us. I'll choose "Quality" over "Quantity" . Peace! |

AbuAeesha:please tell your Country's Government to bring back history into your school Curriculum, so that you won't call an undiluted true history a Trash next time...I wasn't mad at you when you called it trash, because I Know it's totally not your fault but the Government who made a very deliberate effort to make sure you remained uninformed about your history... I rest my case. |

Exactly why this form of democracy we practice does not make sense at all. A lot of people were whinning about tribalism and people not voting specific candidates in Lagos because of their tribal inclination. They are well justified not to vote for such persons when we subjugate our Culture and Heritage to the whims and caprices of an elected administrative officer who is just temporal and doesn't represent the culture of the local people. There's what we call cultural genocide and giving a Governor the official leverage to carry such out without checks and balances is just ridiculous. Imagine Rishi Sunak having the power to sack the Queen of England? Appoint someone different. Abolish cultural laws or heritage with a pen? Create new Kings , Knights and Queens just from a pen. Now tell me if citizens of UK who aren't 2nd or 3rd generation children of immigrants would allow an immigrant to lead them. It's basic common sense that lots of you don't tend to understand. When we talk about how stupid the type of democracy we practice and how the basis of tribalism and mutual distrust is entrenched in the constitution. A lot of people just hoof and poof and want to sound posh and pander to certain groups without asking why people act the way they act or what exactly are their fears and if such are justified. Until we flesh out those areas of our Constitution and make Governors, Presidents etc just administrative positions. Restore the traditional councils and make them independent of whatever government does, we would not see real progress. I would be 100% okay to have a Sokoto man rule an Oyo state when I know he is just an administrative officer, what 99% of Oyo state indigenes would not agree to even if the Sokoto man is the most competent politician since agege bread was founded is the context that a Sokoto man could be voted in, has the right to remove the Alaafin, create new traditional titles and dictate how the indigenous heritage is profiled or even outright take over the culture of an entire race of people with the stroke of a pen. Unfortunately, that's what we have in place currently. |

Blue3k:Not really, but it is not unexpected that the cost of maintaining the Emirates will naturally increase as the number of Emirates increase. Assuming the income of the state government remain constant, the creation of three more Emirates mean the amount set aside for one Emirate will be shared with other Emirates or the budgetary allocation to other segments of government spending will be reduced to accommodate the new Emirates. Nigeria being Nigeria, the former is not possible. |
