Realmrsean:I don’t know o .All I know is he was doing yahoo at a time, then he failed and turned elegbon adugbo. Still relying on his parent’s money even after they had tried to set him up in business over time. I think he’s just lazy naturally . |

Seems like the Yoruba culture has evolved much faster than the igbo culture. Wow |

You see why I constantly advocate for liberalism. Funny that dayo who is a conservative is applauding the relative liberalism of his culture. ![]() But seriously, we must do away with our archaic culture and embrace the modern world. Anyone advocating for us to do things the way our forefathers did things is getting it wrong. That is advocating for retrogression instead of progression. |

Donjazet2:In Yoruba land, ask the elders when community land in the village was being shared, maybe in the 1970s or so, whether any woman received a piece? That's where this mentality stems from. When my village shared land in the early 80s, my father had to go and claim land in his name, though he had no intention of building in the village. Then his mother built on the land and lives there till this day. |

Yoruba culture has its own segregation and its more by age not by gender. If you see someone telling you I am older than you, He is likely a Yoruba person Even in Language pronouns Yoruba language unlike in English where you separate by gender He vs She. Yoruba its by age. The pronouns you use for your mates is not what you use for your parents When learning English Some of us found it odd to address our 65yr old Headmistress with the same pronoun for your 5yr old sister "She is calling you" was too demeaning for a 65yr old so we ill sometimes translate it like Yoruba "They are calling you oh" |

At the end of the day, nobody has the absolute ownership of anything in this world. When that time reaches, we surrender all. 😔 |

A40:Dem get A1 for that one. Na them girls dissapoint pass after spending money training these girls in school. Once an igbo man marries...all his wife's family financial problems becomes his. School fees of inlaws becomes their responsibilty. |

Realmrsean:Lol I think you're getting it wrong. It's possible to simp and still practice misogynistic traditions. They're not mutually exclusive For instance I heard there's nothing like paternity fraud in Igbo culture. Any child your wife has whether na you put am there or not is yours by default. Abeg tell me the Simpin wey pass that one. Why I say na Igbo men simp pass it's because even with their girls there is an entitlement to your pocket that is follow come. All the girls I've met in this life it's only Igbo girls that bill you with authority. If we count stories of 10 men that pay school fees I'm almost certain 8 na Igbo men |

Cromagnon:Subsidy has kept food stuffs and other commodities to d reach of an average Nigerian. It is what d masses enjoy irrespective of the amount being looted from it..... Our politicians have proven to be insincere and untrustworthy in all departments.....Trusting them with the subsidy fund is suicide...... |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by BlueRayDick: 6:46pm On May 01, 2023 |
Ibime:It has always been like that for long time. Yorubas usually share properties/inheritance using two main systems ; 1 . Idi-Igi system and 2. ori-ojori system. The IDI-IGI SYSTEM is one in which the inheritance is shared according to the number of wives the man has . Obviously it’s used in polygamous settings where the man has multiple wives . Each of the wives will get their own proportion which they will keep in trust for their children’s upbringing . The ORI-OJORI SYSTEM can be used in both polygamous and monogamous settings . Each of the children gets their own proportion of the inheritance . If the man has 3wives with wife A having 3 children, wife B having 2 children and wife C having 5 children…. The 8 children will have their equal share of the inheritance without any regard to other factors. Like Raumdeuter posted up there , Yorubas don’t really do much gender wahala . Na age and respect gangan be Yoruba headache 🤕 |

Realmrsean:Nope, It just flashed through my head again that my mum left several acres of land and didn't take anything along. That's how it will continue to be. Enjoy your life properly, while it lasts. |

Emaprince:Omo that concept has always blown my mind. You will see Emeka apprentice sending his girlfriend to nursing school or university and I'm like huh? If you never born like 2 for me I no fit train you go anywhere mo sorry gan. But for them it's the norm. I've seen Igbo girls wey dey school abroad na Igbo man from Nigeria dey pay school fees. Lool I cut cap for una men oh. Odogwu spender See na that aggression the husband family dey take storm house when their brother die because them believe say the wife 10kobo no dey for any property |

A40:If i hear!!!! I am not sure where you heard this gist but baba this one na correct "Lamba". Paternity fraud has led to divorce across the world and the Igbos are not excluded. |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by Realmrsean: 6:54pm On May 01, 2023 |
A40:Igbo men spend extravagantly, that's why.. not necessarily simping |

| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by A40(m): 6:58pm On May 01, 2023 |
Roland17:Hmmm. Na Igbo woman talk this thing oh. Not me. Of course paternity fraud can lead to divorce but by culture what I heard is the child is yours as the wife belongs to you so is the child that came from her |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by Ibime(m): 6:58pm On May 01, 2023 |
BlueRayDick:Una dey try sha. Although I associate disenfranchisement of the female child with Igbo people, I had to remember my great uncle who was our King and had 12 daughters and 4 boys and all his properties went to the 4 boys with no questions asked by any of the women. Then I remembered how both my grandmaternal and grandpaternal villages have been sharing land since the 80s and not one woman is included inside the sharing and it's not strange or odd to anyone. I know the Igbo one well but we too are guilty, but not as far as throwing a widow out of her late husbands house like you hear of with the Igbo |

| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by A40(m): 7:04pm On May 01, 2023 |
Realmrsean:Yes. Spend extravagantly on undeserving women. It's still Simpin. I've seen wealthy men simp. I've seen the men just managing to get by still simp. Struggling and Spending on your girlfriend to go to school while you have no certificates is that not Simpin? I know you want to defend your honor but we all know of the 3 major tribes na Igbo men simp pass |

Ibime:The house I stayed in school, the guy who collects the rent was a student. We graduated the same set. The house belonged to his grandfather, his mum inherited it and passed it on to him. Indeed we have diverse cultures in this land. Maybe if the founders of this country had actually listened to each other and try to learn our differences we would’ve had a much more prosperous nation |
| Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by BlueRayDick: 7:08pm On May 01, 2023 |
larride:Yes, a woman can only be a regent and not a king. But some Yoruba communities allows the female child pass on her royalty to her own son such that her son can be king in her stead . |
