Why Did Osinbajo Invite Chimamanda, And Not Soyinka, To His Book Launch? by Penguin2(op): 6:55am On May 07, 2023
You recall that Osinbajo recently held a book launch. It was in that book launch that the former Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, said, in a speech, that Nigeria lost in not making Osinbajo president.

That speech generated a lot of ripples in the Tinubu camp, as expected, but men of conscience know that the Emir said the truth.

But away from SLS’ speech, another significant thing that happened in that occasion is that the Vice President opted to invite Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie to that book launch despite her recent open letter to the president of the United States, Joe Biden, against the conduct of the just concluded Nigerian election which led to a lot of brawl between her and the APC camp, or should I say the Tinubu camp.

Now, before Chimamanda Soyinka was. And this expression is true both in age, attainment of literary success and in dabbling into the conduct of the elections.

Just in case what I said above isn’t clear enough, I am saying that when it comes to literary success, that Prof Soyinka won his Nobel Laureate in Literature when Chimamanda was still possibly in Primary School. So if anyone wants to honour or invite people who have achieved literary success, Soyinka should be considered first. But Osinbajo had other ideas.

Osinbajo opted to invite Chimamanda to his book launch after she had written an open letter against the conduct of the election, granted an interview on national TV against the govt which Osinbajo is the Vice President in, and even exchanged some banters online with supporters of Tinubu.

Now, not only did he extend an official invitation to her, he also posed for photographs with her and caused same to be released in the internet.

So, what message do you think was Osinbajo trying to send because only shortsighted persons would think it was just a book launch.

Osubande owed nobody any explanation or allegiance before doing what he likes.

He invited the brightest minds, not those political jobbers who you must send brown envelope to before they show up and Soyinka is one of those.

Osubande, owes buhari nothing. If he was not a gentleman to the core, he would have long fallen out with buhari in the Obj and Atiku fashion. Have you forgotten so soon, the hell yemi saw in the Villa? It can only be compared to wetin Musa see for gate.

Why should he be considering a Tinubu before inviting those he wants to relate with to his event?

Have we all forgotten how Tinubu and his lapdogs villified him for daring to aspire to be president?

As he winds up his tenure, no doubt he has carved a role for himself outside of government influence, he's going back to his chambers to face his business and spend more time with his constituent.

True.

It’s quite obvious Osinbajo did what he did to send a clear message of where he stands in the entire fiasco. That he’s not part of election riggers or part of those who would defend the sham election conducted by INEC.

And just yesterday, he was at an event of the PDP people.

If he had invited Prof Soyinka without inviting Adichie, you guys will still have something to say.

Common, why do some of you guys just like to be lamenting and complaining unnecessarily.

Life is too beautiful than that now

Confused incoherent Obidients, if not for Bola Ahmed Tinubu & President Buhari, would you have known who Vice President Yemi Osinbajo is?

Empty wasted Barrels, always imagining to reap, where they did not sow.

Don't read unnecessary meanings into things. How are you sure he wasn't invited. It's possible he was invited but he sent his regrets probably because he was already engaged for the day.

Besides, Osibanjo reserves the right to invite whosoever he wants to his event, without prejudice to anyone.

They are both great writers. Simple. Stop the controversy.

They don't even like Osinbajo. The sudden acceptance is just because he contested against Tinubu. Few years ago they have criticized him bitterly and sworn he can never be the president again because he's a Yoruba man. They have referred to him as slave, Aso rock house boy, tradermoni, mere commissioner etc....

They never loved him. They just hate Tinubu and Yoruba political progress. I could remember their common slogan then that "for any Yoruba man to get presidency in 2023, power should rather remain in the North". cheesy

Have you considered the fact that Wole Soyinka declined the invitation? What of a possibility of him being unavoidably unavailable on the book launch day? I'm sure if this your new found bride had won the primaries, you people will NEVER vote for him unless he's the only man standing! You would have voted an Atiku over an Osinbajo...stop pretending like you hold him in any high esteem!
