May 29: Politicians Should Be Sworn In With Amadioha, Ogun – Chuks Ibegbu by Odewaleadesoye(op): 3:56pm On May 08, 2023
Politicians should be sworn into office with African deities such as the Amadioha and Ogun, a former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chuks Ibegbu, has said.

Ibegbu stated this in a media chat with newsmen.

According to Ibegbu, using African deities to swear in politicians would prevent them from looting the government’s treasury while in office.

The public affairs analyst urged the National Assembly to enact laws that would permit politicians to be sworn in using African deities.

He said, “I advocate that all political office holders in Nigeria be sworn into office using Africa Oaths with our deities.

“Politicians are no longer afraid of the Bible and Qur’an and should be sworn in with African deities to instil fear and honesty in them. Unless this is done, our politicians will continue to loot us dry and mess up our lives.

“Politicians should swear with Amadioha, Ogun, Chockonoze, they will think twice before looting our patrimony. We, therefore, call on the National Assembly to pass a law to that effect immediately.”

Ibegbu also called for the abolition of security votes, adding that the “immunity clause and full-time national and state legislature, at Nigeria’s cost is inhumane and outrageous.

“80 percent of our resources go into servicing non-productive politicians and elites leaving the masses in agony,” he said.

These red cap people again?

So on what basis should a man swear with what he doesn't believe in?

It would have even made some lil sense if they say politicians who believe in juju should swear with their idols, but a Muslim or Christian swear with a stone or tree, which kind fuckery be dat?

This is a very lazy disposition.
Does he mean the gods that couldn't protect Africans from the ruins Europeans brought on them?
gods that were chased away from their shrines, and carted away as artefacts to be hung in museums?
gods that Africans regard as diabolical and powerless powers?

When I hear people say these kind of things, I sparogatively laugh at their level of reasoning
...What about not voting in thieves?
What about ensuring elections are free, fair and credible?
What about ensuring the electoral body issue certificate of return to the people's choice?
What about ensuring that the anti-graft agencies are independent and perform their duties efficiently?
What about ensuring the agencies saddled with prosecuting corrupt practices checkmate themselves (ICPC investigates EFCC e.t.c)?
What about removing immunity from all political office holders.

It's better we stop looking at God or gods to help us when we don't want to even help ourselves.

Many will refuse to swear with those gods citing religious reasons but in actual fact they are afraid of instant calamity and death.

People fear those gods more than they fear the Almighty God.

We are in a country where a thief will be the first to call u to swear if u wont steal. What kind of moral do these people have to call some people to swear with ogun or Amadioha. I'm not against swearing of our politicians with these gods but who among those raising this issue have never stolen before. They have all tasted power in one time or the other and they all added to the problems facing this country.
