About the glitched encountered during the presidential election on the IREV portal.

That glitch had no impact whatsoever on the actual conduct of the election.

I would liken it to somebody saying that because there was a problem with their television at home and they could not watch the Super bowl, they're now saying because their TV didn't work that Super Bowl was not played in the stadium. We believe that that's a foolish argument.

Ajuri Ngelale.

It is rather a foolush thought comparing superbowl and TV with election and BVAS.

Is it excusable that BVAS uploaded results in all the other elections except the presidential?

If you say yes, then there was no point using BVAS in the elections. There was no point throwing away 300billion naira because of a mere glitch.

BVAS is the VAR in Superbowl. It should have counted.

Unfortunately his story is also the story of most Nigerian businesses. It is almost as if the average Nigerian has negative intelligence where he will literally destroy the place where he is eating. Loot the company to bankruptcy, live off the proceeds for a few months, and then start enjoying poverty.

Don't confuse things up please. BVAS was the real deal.

BVAS eliminated

1. Multiple voting / Over voting

2. Ghost voters.

BVAS really really eliminated fraud to some extent in our just concluded election.

3. He is talking about the IREV portal and not BVAS.

4. BVAS is an accreditation system. Designed to read PVC and authenticate voters.

I will just say we had a run in with otedola in the late 2000s. The mans actions painted him as an uncouth barely educated power mad thug. Only able to bully those weaker than him, but unable to out think or outwit those on his level

Based on statistics, Happy Birthday was released in 1988 and was no longer in vogue by 1992. Only pre-indomie generation could have been dancing to it.

I won't say it's backstabbing per se, since it's business we're talking about, what Tony Elumelu is doing is very on brand with businessmen, and even on a much smaller scale it happens.

True, Otedola is clearly being outwitted by Tony Elumelu. What Tony Elumelu seems to be doing is to watch for Otedola's business moves, then react to it...he's employing that strategy because Otedola has way more social and political connect than he does, so Otedola is likely to always know where policy direction would drive investment towards, sadly he seems not be be as cash flush as Tony Elumelu, so once that one gets scoop of it, he either makes a move faster or bullies him out, and Tony Elumelu being the way better asset manager, becomes difficult to dislodge once he's made his move.

That times three pay out Otedola got from the failed takeover of Transcorp, Tony Elumelu would make that and more even if he's able to grow the business by just 10%, and all this drama that Otedola is doing is even making Transcorp more attractive to investors, so the share price is likely to grow that much, or even more. Investors don't care who's the nice guy, what they care about is who will make them money, so it's surprising that Otedola is playing this victim card.

Otedola has even cooled down. He also had a falling out with dangote back then. Next thing he started otedola cement in a bid to Fk with dangotes market. That time it was drama drama drama and paranoia. Remeber the issue with the reps where he gave lawan dollars, filmed it and then put it out on SM? A move that ultimately did nothing but get him enemies. Yes, we were all shocked and disappointed that lawan was ultimately just a poser speaking English, but it was a completely misguided move for a Nigerian business person.

Lovely long thread about the biography and story of Nico Mbarga as told by this White guy

https://twitter.com/DavidZabinsky/status/1641431868452270082?t=uxOp6Qn9rDfD-2_AYo4_ZQ&s=19

This part of the story was touching sha shocked

Nico never comes out with a hit like “Sweet Mother” again and slowly disappears into anonymity in his quiet hometown of Ikom.

But in 1997, Nico - and the Rocafil boys - get the chance of a lifetime…

To get the band back together and play a 50-state tour in the US.

For Nico, a chance to scrap his air guitar for the real thing.

And to swap his only listeners these days - his family - for thousands of screaming fans.

A goodbye tour of sorts.

Nico can’t contain himself.

He hops in his car to collect his visa required for travel to the US.

On the way there, Nico’s car runs out of petrol.

So he hails down an okada: a local motortaxi.

But an accident sends Nico flying.

He hits his head.

Badly.

Nico dies two weeks later in the hospital.

Never able to play “Sweet Mother” one last time.

Back in Ikom, when Nico’s mother - now elderly - hears the news, she falls in shock.

She’d never get back up, either.

She dies shortly after.
