What need to understand about GUNs in the USA, it's like your right to vote, right to life, and so on, it's enshrined in their constitution,the agency in charge which is the NRA na big fish in the country. Most of this is wrong.
1.) Before the "individual rights theory" took hold by Conservatives on the Supreme Court it was understood that the 2nd Amemndment didn't guarantee gun rights to individuals but to states via militias. So, in that past "assault weapons" were regulated. As the supreme court court more conservative they interpreted the 2nd amendment to mean an individual right to guns and kept interpreting the 2nd amendment to restrict regulations.

Text of the 2nd amemndment.

"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed."

2.) The NRA is a private organization or lobbying group. Their power is derived only in their ability to lobby (bribe) conservative legislators/Republicans.

3.)Other countries are more liberal than the US and have less gun deaths. It's not the culture but the easy access to weapons.
